A Noise Within

There is a sound only I can hear
a whimper really
that comes from deep within
a longing to return to my innocence
when my wants were few
and my needs were met
a yearning for a past I barely remember
to avoid a future someone else planned.

Tethered

tethered to her expectations so different from my dreams
unrealistic aspirations fuel my need
not wanting to dissapoint her I stretch myself again
pulled as far as I can go
I wonder will this ever end

Loss

I can feel your heartbeat
but I can't touch your heart
so close I can touch you
so far away I can't reach you
watching you walk away
there is a sense of loss that adheres to my heart
and a sadness so blinding it's all I can see

Motivation

My motivation for leaving rests squarely on your faithless shoulders
it's your flippant smile, your quiet disregard
the devalued way you make me feel
It's the many nights spent alone resting my head on your lies
the callousness of your hands, the chill of your touch
sending shivers down my spine
finally the goodbye you won't say

Deception

my lies are the river that divides us
my words are riddled with deceit
to tell the truth would be best
but I think, to much time has passed

I can't bare to watch you walk away
so I close my eyes and fail to see
the tears falling down your cheeks
as you take one last glance at me

honesty could make you stay
but you seeing the real me
is a price I'm unwilling to pay
so I just say goodbye and pretend not to care
that the biggest piece of my heart is no longer there.

Utter

She said

Until you listen to me

Talk will be empty I need

Time to heal from the wounds you've inflicted please

End the games you've been playing and

Return to the warmth of a love renewed.

Blood Stains

blood stains the sidewalk where I walk
broken hearts lie beating on the ground
tears are the only currency in this town
carnage surround me, human wreckage all around
anguished cries begging for a reprieve
tortured souls sorry for their misdeeds.

Nan

A single cell gone wild
cancer sucking the flesh from your bones
your still chest, my broken heart
hope lost on that still night
weakened and weary my future looks bleak
crushed by the weight of what will never be.

Collateral Damage

Her smile masks sorrow
His anger and resentment fester just below the surface
These children are collateral damage
Tears stain their pillows
Tiny voices ask why
I don't have an answer
So I just whisper-hurry and say goodbye

Hidden Lies

central to my life are lies
told to myself in the darkest night
meant to protect me from the beasts that abound
truth has become elusive
something I can't see in poor light
trapped in a prison of my own making
I long for the sun-the dawn breaking
