Speeding Ticket

There… he… goes…
speeding down the mountain,
he’s just enjoying life.

He just wants to share
TIME
with his friend.

To his provider’s misfortune,
TIME
varies her lipstic – I mean definition.

His description:
“I was just enjoying MYself,
it wasn’t MY fault.”

Her description:
“But you hurt ME.
What about ME?”

She was furious.
Her insurance rates became destined to go
THROUGH THE ROOF.

It’s so unfair for her,
she was just trying to provide for her man:
gave him a car and some freedom.

The interest her man once gave her, though,
sped off so quickly that it
deserved plenty more speeding tickets.

That interest
Deserved stars, road blocks, and helicopters;
and a much more somber ending than that of a life in Grand Theft Auto.

Once you’re caught,
you’re caught.
You can still go back,

though, once you leave,
you’re gone indefinitely.
Everyone else must pay your debts now.

She became dull,
she got fat,
every Christmas present gets old by the time Santa comes around again.

Not that any of any of those
physical characteristics mattered,
though.

It was true love,
so true that the betrayal was just as true.
But it was just a speeding ticket.

Coffee With Grandpa

I have 2 Grandpas.
One a lover of the Lord,
the other, I'm not so sure.

Both, awesome and inspiring men.

For years, they don't even
offer me coffee.

It would be abnormal for
me to drink it anyways
cuz ... I'm young?

Yet, had I broken through
all the barriers,
and just grabbed a cup
for myself -
moving so quickly and silently
to make all the noise in the kitchen -
it would've been
3/4 milk, 1/4 sugar, and a sip
of coffee.

That's how the Boyz liked it.

But now, I've since
acquired the bitter taste.

Oh, how sour this life is.

Now, I can share a large,
bold cup with my grandpas.
It's been life-changing.

I'm almost on their pillar.
Those pillars of wisdom.
If only I knew now
what they know from 60+ years.

I envy their serenity.
Lord, why can't I
HAVE PEACE?!
But when I sit with
them,
I'm right up there, too.

Delving into the wisdoms
that encompass the
utmost
love.

Jar On a Shelf

We filled our jar.
Our big, glass jar
on that shelf.

But it was never
meant to be big enough.

We made 5-star memories.
Rotten tomatoes were all over
our jar.

1st date:
Simple.
Movie & dinner.

Every other date:
Too cute for words.

We'd drive home
through the night,
burning away the starlight.

I would take back roads that
I, yes, had been down
before ... 10 years ago.

Just to be lost with her.

We stayed out too
late on school nights.

We overused that stupid
               .

OXOX meant much
more than just hugs and
                                 kisses.

And she kissed ME first.
I felt so unmanly.
But it was OK.

Now I'm back in this place.
Our glass jar has since fallen.

Pieces
              are
                        everywhere.

I'm slowly brining them back.
I cut myself on each edge.

The pain is no nice, though.
It makes the experience come
to life.

Oh, to have sealed, labeled,
and stored our jar.

In our pantry.

For our children.

Nope, you'll never return
those pieces still stuck
in the bottoms of
     your rubber soule.
