Reality (Age: 12)

"The world is your oyster,"
Some wise man once said.
This wise man was nuts,
What was wrong with his head?

The world's a cold place,
Which is easy to see;
From our cool, mirky waters;
To our beautiful, dead trees.

They used to talk about soulmates,
When love equaled life;
Now they murder the husband,
Who cheats on his wife.

"Every man for himself,"
That's our new motto now;
And try finding a man,
That could pray or teach how.

"The world is your oyster,"
Some wise man once said;
I wonder if our wise friend,
Ever got out of bed.

I Lost My Parents (Age:8)

I lost my parents, oh what will I do?
Now who will be there to help tie my shoe,
Or help me to try and count six plus two,
I've got to go find them, it's all up to me,
I better start looking, but where could they be?

The first place I'll check will of course be the zoo,
Because Daddy likes "Mickey" and Mommy likes "Pooh".
If I don't find them there, the next place I'll look
Will be in the back of my pre-school book;
Mommy and daddy just bought it for me,
It was a present when I turned three.

If I can't find them still,
There'll be no way to stop it,
I'll have to go up and check in my closet!
I know it'll be scary, closet monsters are hard,
But I gotta go do it, and keep up my guard;
Mommy and Daddy are counting on me,
I better start looking,
But where could they be?

Could You Spare Me a Dime? (Age:11)

Day after day,
Time after time;
I see people on corners asking,
"Could you spare me a dime?"

All day long,
We all pass them by;
Some choose to give,
But truthfully, most don't reply.

"They'll spend it on drugs!"
"They'll spend it on beer!"
But what about those,
Who are truly sincere.

We all still need to give,
Even though it gets hard;
Because of the scams,
Society has been scarred.

We can't just give up,
And choose not to care;
Because there are people,
Still hungry out there.

A good rule of thumb,
When you give money away;
Think of the life,
You could be saving today.
