Spectacular

Spectacular

They insist we have to be better
When, in fact, we are better
We’re better than most
Without having to work at it

We do not have to be our best
For the sake of others comforts
As our worse is our greatest
And our best is spectacular

Our ancestors planted the seeds
Faith, prosperity, and strength
Has grown inside us, abundantly
And has united us in love

And we are engulfed by the roots
Of spirituality and hope
We have flourished in unity
Our ancestors have never left us

In fact, they are depending on us
And we shall not cause worry
For we are them
And they were spectacular

While in the fields
Surrounded by hatred hearts
They were at their best
In spite of expectations

Through humility they hummed
Sounds of greatness
And we are still listening
Each word embedded in our hearts

We do not have to be wiser
And we won’t be invisible
Because we are better than most
Even at our worse

For we are spectacular.

Atonement

ATONEMENT

I APPRECIATE THE LOVE YOU GIVE
ALTHOUGH I AM OFTEN UNDESERVING
YOU STAND BY MY SIDE AT WILL
MY LOVE, I AM RESERVING

KNOW THAT I HAVE CONTRITION
ALTHOUGH IT MAY APPEAR LAME
YOUR LOVE IS OVERLY SUFFICIENT
WHICH IS WHY I CARRY YOUR NAME

IN SPITE OF MY POOR ATTITUDE
I LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU KNOW
BUT I HAVE ISSUES TO WORK OUT
WHICH CAN ALTER MY LOVE FLOW

MY BEHAVIOR IS NOT YOUR FAULT
THOUGH YOU MAY OFTEN THINK SO
WHILE I WORK OUT MY PROBLEMS
MY LOVE FOR YOU STILL GROWS

SO BE PATIENT WITH ME, LOVE
TOGETHER OUR YEARS ARE LONG
IF I HAVE TREATED YOU UNKINDLY
FOR THIS I WILL ATONE

I Should

I should cry
But I can’t
I should jump
But it won’t be high
I should dance
But without synchronicity
I should go
To a unknown place
I should be
Somebody else
But I am not certain
Of who that is
I must find that person
So I can speak
About who I am
Without hesitation
I should soar
Over the mountaintops
Like an eagle
Or a hawk
But not be a predator
I should feed the young
And smile as I do it
And keep smiling
I should own that smile
Continuously
Without regret
For I should want
I should need
To be myself
Exclusively

The Seed

THE SEED

There is the seed
That must be planted
There is the soil
A refuge, a home
A nurturer a guide
A provider of tools

And with proper nurturing
The seed grows roots
by imbedding in the soil
With proper maintenance
A plant grows, a flower blooms

The leaves fall off the plant
Yet the plant continues to thrive
When the right time comes
After a season or two
It blooms again

And like that seed
We are grounded
The tools are provided for us
Which lead us to formation
of a foundation from which we grow

We plant our roots into our faith
And we grow, we bloom, we thrive

Our roots are our destiny
We are obligated to maintain them
