Ashen Snow

An innocence we used to know
As morning dourly turns to night
Entombed beneath an ashen snow

A cell phone yearning for hello
With hopes of answer growing slight
An innocence we used to know

Within a stampede’s torrid flow
Bifocals lost in jostled fright
Entombed beneath an ashen snow

A playbill from three days ago
Once read with wonder and delight
An innocence we used to know

Pillars raised in commerce glow
Now broken pencils thrown in spite
Entombed beneath an ashen snow

So many hearts in fervent throes
So many souls in heaven’s sight
An innocence we used to know
Entombed beneath an ashen snow

Summer

summer's lavish brush
canvas stroked in billowed swirls…
    daydreams framed in blue

The Flower of Youth

a playground’s laughter
                  fragrant in its innocence-
                  jasmine soothes old ears
          whispered through a seasoned brier
           the perfumed blooms of childhood

Nocturnal Contagion

While it feels in the noontide, just steps through the trees,
As the sky bleeds to twilight – the sweetest disease.
On a walk through the maples, an itch of romance,
As a warm breeze courts Eros at gloaming's advance.

Just a glance woos the shivers, through come hither eyes,
Nervous hands - now perspiring, by moonlight’s devise.
Down a path softly swaying, then slowly a waltz,
Till a feverish tango as all reason halts.

Soon the knees start to wobble and vision subsides,
As the world falls from focus in dizzying strides.
There’s no end to the sickness on warm summer strolls,
Should the moon cast its toxin on amorous souls.

Frozen In Crystalline

Two bridges tease a cold solstice sun;
trees masked in ice, join in the fun.

Strings Attached

a gaze felt softly
     pulling on wistful heartstrings…
           your puppeteer eyes

Frozen Waterfall

winter’s fickle bride
    weeps behind an opaque veil…

Early Spring

winter cowers
             in shrinking shadows…
                pale and sweating
