Summer Love

Lapping waves, boat gently rocks, lone seagull screams from overhead.

Sun setting on horizon evokes feelings of happiness

Wedding Day, honeymoon cabin, remembering night of love

Juliet In Love

Carefree spirits a smile away

encompasses a youth today

Noble bearing and light of feet

I hope there is a chance to meet

Passed by and by in crowded space

Our eyes caressing each other's face

Racing pulse and temperature rise

Which in blushing I tried to hide

High visions floating in mind's eye

Dissolves in realistic sigh

What will tomorrow's morning bring

If declaring, my heart, shall sing.

Tower of London

Conquering Normans in siege they lay
waste to all England
to pillage and slay.

William the Conqueror rode overland
with nobles and ladies
of high ranking band.

Surveying all territories with equal measure
His decision unanimous,
and at his leisure

Decided on Londinium, the roman town
By the river Thames,
his fortress he found.

Erected by labourers, a mammoth task,
A castle keep,
made to last.

In building this edifice of towering strength,
Quelled all resistance
at each wall length.

Forming a formidable structure to intimidate
all Saxon nobles
reduced to peasant state,

As centuries pass amid tales of woe,
from palace home
to fighting the foe,

Political prisoners held in the white tower
in angst deprivation
as they await the hour of their execution.

Queens and Princes murdered there
Heads lopped off
As the populace stare.

Beefeaters, knights and crows stand guard
at the portcullis, gatehouse
and inner courtyard.

Since 1078 the white tower stands
unaffected by seasons
and war-bombing strands.

The second world war brings chaos all around
From blitz bombardment
an ear-deafening sound.

Tower of London sheltered all within
Who seek to find refuge
from the annihilating din.

In peacetime came tourists from foreign shores
Keeping coffers full
As the river Thames flows.

Many visitors being guided around
listening to Beefeaters narrative
in awe spellbound.

Viewing medieval suits of armour along walls of stone
including a glass case
holding Henry V111's own.

Six feet four embellished in gold
Surveying Tudor artifacts
as their history unfolds

Quequing lines of people awaiting their turn
to see priceless crown jewels
all expectations confirm.

Gems of such brilliance in shape and size
from adorning royal personages
the nation's prize.

Scheduled archaeological digs still carry on,
uncovering hidden passages,
where our history comes from.

Should the resident clipped crows disappear through the gate
legend states London is lost
left to it's fate.

If walls could talk to be precise
what secrets revealed
to it's possible demise.

Longevity establishes a sense of worth
uniting the population
in the land of their birth.

Long forgotten enmities lost in the chronicles of time,
the Tower represents
a landmark fine.

As the keys approach at the designated hour
the bayonet drawn guard
calls out from the tower

"Halt who goes there?"

And answering comes the time honoured refrain
The Keys of Elizabeth,
our Sovereign Queen in name.

Pollution

To mill pond at dawn's new day

rippling sunbeams over the calm surface play
freely amongst the stately swans gliding there
in contented pairings, turning sees' a hare
and leveret munching on borage and honeycombs
breakfasting, as a polluted tributory stream foams
with poisonous effluence five hundred yards away

to mill pond at dawn's new day

Alien Invasion

Predator drone recording:- 6.00am

The dawn sky dramatic
Multi-coloured in rainbow array
Mutating flares of crimson reds
One portent Wednesday.

Overhead the predator drone motionless
Metallic silver it's planed wings
and tip pointed nose

Alarming to view it's presence
Though reassuring to see it remain
As alien activity increases
In newsworthy reports of the same

Covert surveillance monitoring
Is commonly known
Also equipped with combative technology
Has this futuristic drone

The troubled nations looked skywards
From parliament offices, homes and schools
No communication has been received or ventured
As a stalemate seems to prevail

At 6.30 pm on Thursday
A bombardment of ferocious intensity
Annihilated a mountain range
Within 30 seconds as dust cleared
The landscape now had changed
Once where there were mountains
Only a rising mushroom cloud

Panic was endemic
As satellite news worldwide spread.
Communities in the vicinity
Had collapsing buildings
and the people laying injured or dead.

Countless areas were targeted
Cities razed to the ground
People as headless chickens
Madness crazed were hunted down.

Total annihilation of the human race
Was the aliens only goal
Governments faltered and fell
Young destined to never grow old.

The authoritarian levels of society
In bunkers down did go
As the skyscrapers monopolise
stood as gravestones over the
crowded inhabitants below.

No help could be alerted
from the defence forces,
ambulance or police

People decided to die in their homes
With loved ones silent in their grief
The old order had been toppled
No-one could envisage the end

Then, Monday at 5.00 am

An ear piercing whistling
continued without restrain
Ear drums were shattered
No-one could withstand the pain
Making everyone left suicidal
that was the alien's game.

They entered the Earth's stratosphere
at midnight on Saturday

But there was no human civilisation
No-one left to positively say.

A Rose With a Thorn

Billy Bob had fallen in love

Consuming his entirety

Awakening his heart ached

Asleep his love passed him by

Though yearning he did not reveal

Valentine's Day loomed so near

Dare he reveal his true feelings

Nothing ventured, nothing gained

Was his one recurring mantra

He bought a card and wrote a name

'Stephan I love you, please be mine'

He inserted a deep red rose

inside the card and posted it

He waited on Valentine's Day

His quaking spirits were soaring

He received a card from Stephan

Revealing feelings were mutual

They arranged to meet after school

to Billy Bob's distress and grief

Heard that his love had that day died

from septicaemia due to

pricking his finger recently

from the thorn of a deep red rose.

World Wide Web

World Wide Web welcomed the world over

Computer communication consisting as a combined operation, though

Poised and positioned, pertinent persons are parodied, as

Caricaturists calculating cajolery creates challenges

Tacticians tantalises with tangible tall stories, though

Rules regulate racketeers and raging ranters

Friends and family Skype face to face in fellowship.
