Beth Bresnahan Poem
And here I sit,
In tears yet again
Wishing I could let it all out
Emotions ready to spill
In salt laden streams
While in my head I shout
Old wounds are opened
And new ones are made
Each time I mull over the past
Strong is my will
As I duck tape the cracks
Not knowing how long it will last
When there is no other fix
The dam will burst forth
And a river of tears I will cry
My soul misses that touch
Of soft fingers and lips
Never felt but for in the minds eye
There is really no end
To the yearning I feel
So I'll accept what I must face
In my dream you will stay
Till fate brings you to me
To rest in my loving embrace

Beth Bresnahan Poem
(Title tentative)
The gate was lowered, the path laid before her
But the journey would not be a simple task
Traps had been laid, tests waited at every turn
Each step would be perioulous, so little to ask
The heart was at stake and the price would be high
And all it would take is a little sacrifice
It was thrilling to watch as she passed each hurdle
She knew what she wanted was well worth the price
Victory! Hurrah! The sacred heart had been won
Time to revel in the love being rained from above
Each day passed in bliss, each moment divine
Songs would be written of this enduring love
The honeymoon period was brief, I'm afraid
And darkness hovered about the happy pair
Jealousy was playing it's ugly little game
Suspicion floated full and thick in the air
Possessive souls, these two lovers were
Passions would flare and anger would boil
Emotions rising and threatening to spill
The differences mixing like water and oil
Years would pass as the battle raged
Neither one yeilding or ending the fight
It still goes on, to this very day
Both battling for what they believe is right
The lovers have tried to go seperate ways
It never succeeds except to cause pain
Each one has realized, there is no way out
Too much would be lost, with nothing to gain

Beth Bresnahan Poem
As I look back down the road we have traveled
I can see all the cracks in the pavement
Each one a reminder of what we've endured
If you look at each one more closely
You can see the tears and the laughter
You can hear every sigh and every scream
Some of them are deeper than the rest
These are indicators of the hardest times
Those made us stronger than we realized
What we have cannot be broken or burnt
It cannot be severed or laid to rest
It is enduring. It is for eternity.
Looking forward on this road we walk
I can already see tiny fissures forming
Trials to come and hurdles to face
Faith in us and in what we are together
That keeps me from veering off course
You are my fate and my evermore

Beth Bresnahan Poem
Written in 2004
Intangible emotion that crests on the horizon
Leaving me reaching in vain
Impossible dreams that haunt my slumber
Leaving me in nothing but pain
Your words fall cold upon my aching heart
Chilling me to the core
Making each moment spend in your hold
A bloody, emotional war
My fists wish to beat upon your chest
My lips wish to scream out their hate
But what good would it do to act out my rage
Would it change the course of our fate?
Helpless, I wait, inside of the void
My love for you has created
Watching from a distance as you slip away
Into the darkness your own will has fated
love brings pain
turns to hate
becomes indifference
...and the light dies

Beth Bresnahan Poem
(Circa 2012)
Exhilaration overtakes us
Energy pulsing deep within
Fire burning at the very core
Exploding with our every sin
A single touch ignites the spark
And it travels along the skin
Setting the very flesh on edge
As the passion slowly sinks in
Few words are spoken from our lips
Feral are the noises that we make
In tribute to each others lust
We give completely and then take
Once sated and basking in the glow
Speaking softly of the love we share
Our limbs entwined with one another
Souls open and feelings laid bare
