Conscience

Conscience
Lub dub lub dub
Do you hear that?
That is the sound of your heart beating
That and me is all that you should hear

You’ve never cried this much since you were kid
You’ve never felt this much since you were a kid
You’ve always thought you were brave, though, strong
A lioness capable of bring anything down that hinders
But now you’re at your most vulnerable
An open wound is your heart
You want the earth to tear apart
The soil to eat you whole
This is your only salvation from her judging eyes
But it will never happen
Life doesn’t work that way
Look at me
This is you
Without you mask of emotions
Without all your façade
Bare and stripped
An exhibit of all your secrets, lies and all your demons
Guilty, ashamed, disgusted
Are you not?
Can you bear to see your parents weep of what you’ve become?
All their sweat of hard work,
Tears of heartbreak
Wasted on the rubbish that you are
Your tears are nothing now
But there’s still time
You still have this chance
There is only one thing left for you to do
Change

Lub dub lub dub
Do you hear that?
That is the sound of your heart beating
That and me, your conscience, is all you heard.
