Eric Douglas Beard Poem
In memory of:
Tresa Ilene Collins
In God your soul shall rest
If We Could
If we could bring back yesterday
Turn back the hands, rewind
Would decisions made be different?
Could we change our thoughts of mind?
If we could bring back yesterday,
Would the rise of suns remain?
Could we capture all its beauty?
But leave behind the pain?
For years you’ve shown your loyalty
Your integrity… and your grace
The void you left stays open
There’s no one to fill your space
Sometime it’s hard to fathom
What one person must endure
Still the needs of those came first
To find who you could be there for
There aren’t many people in this room
You have not helped
Or have had a kind to say
That smile of radiance you shared with all
Left with you that day
All we have now are memories
To give us something to look forward to
It’s always hard to say goodbye
Tresa, we are simply missing you
So now…
Heaven holds your destiny
And all there is that’s best
You have received your invitation
In God your soul shall rest
Yes…
We have been given an angel
And though it’s hard we cannot fuss
But if I…
If I could bring back yesterday
I would bring you back to us
