All They Could Have Been

Little lights begin to shine
Tiny heartbeats in the dark
With a glowing hope inside
To shine brighter than the stars

But their possibilities.....
Suddenly come to an end
Echoing in their silent screams
All they could have been

I see a doctor, I see a preacher
A loving nurse...A home school teacher
A little boy rounding third base
That home run smile all over his face
They would change the world we're living in
If only they could be.....
All they could have been

We explain it all away
A thousand reasons for their fall
But they can never be replaced.....
Listen close....and hear the call

'To welcome all the angels
Heaven chose to send....
Let all God's children be
All they could have been

I see a priest...a president
The hands of an artist...a pilot's accent
Mom's joyful tears--graduation day
As her baby girl walks 'cross the stage
Yes, they would change the world we're living in....
If only they could be.....
All they could have been

Just a chance to be....
All they could have been

Muse Blues

I got the Muse Blues
Where did my muse go
I got the muse blues
Tell me where did my muse go
Maybe down 'n Louisiana
Hangin' out with my friend Flo

I got the Muse Blues
My heart in a rage
I got the muse blues
My heart in a rage
Sayin' if muse try to act like Flo
Well He's gonna be upstaged

I got the muse blues
He's back but kinda sick
I got the muse blues
He's back but kinda sick
He tried to dance with Flo
And got his old butt kicked

I got some muse queues
If muse ever leaves again
I got some muse queues
If muse ever leaves again
Steer clear of Louisiana
And my pinnacle poetess friend

Nothing Left

Chorus:

If lonely is a prison...
Lord knows I've done my time
From my lying destination,
To the truth I've left behind

There's another losing diamond,
In every card I'm dealt
I'll be holding on to nothing
Until there's nothing left

Verse:

Every word my mama said
Keeps exploding in my head
Son, it's not too late to turn around

Remembering...when my daddy left
With all those promises...unkept
Me and my old man..... share common ground

Bridge:

Silence is the hammer...
Memories are the nails...
Every path to freedom
Becomes an empty trail

Heartache is the music
Every day... the fear
Too early for confession
Too late to form a tear

Chorus:

If lonely is a prison...
Lord knows I've done my time
From my lying destination
To the truth I've left behind......

The Valley of the Song

Inspiration.........Heaven knows
Slowly comes.....and quickly goes
Restless nights....forever long
In the valley of the song

Illusive notes....for the refrain
Hide like fireflies...when it rains
While the search goes on and on.....
In the valley of the song.....

The answer whispers...from afar...
Another notch on my guitar
'Struggle bows...to glory's dawn
In the valley of the song

Ride

There's an urgent feeling, sweeping 'cross the land
Could the hourglass be approaching, it's final grain of sand
Terror pulls the trigger, hearts begin to quake
Searching for a way to escape.......

There's a Revelation in the back of the book
'Talks about a tribulation, It's bad everywhere you look
But down at the Station, folks are boarding fast
Leaving from what's gonna come to pass

To the restless, the rejected, to the broken and the blue
The Messenger's still shouting all about the Good News
Thank GOD some have listened, they've heard the whistle blow
As angels sing "Sweet Chariot Swing Low"

On that train ain't no tension, ain't no talking trash
Ain't no poor folks section, everybody rides first class
See that light in the tunnel, the redeemed are coming through
And the Redemption Rail has room for you

But you ain't got enough money to buy a ticket on that train
'Cause they've all been purchased in a Carpenter's name
But if you want to claim him as your destiny
Come on!! You can ride...for free!

How To Fall

'Saw you fighting back the teardrops
All by yourself........
You didn't have to say a word...
I knew just how you felt

So, you haven't been here either
Just happened in...like me
Well, if you're feeling blue and lonely
You've got company....

We can dance....or just sit here and talk...
We can laugh or cry..I'll let it be your call
This new found freedom..lets us rise above it all..
'Cause we both know....How to fall

Yeah, I'll have another...Girl what would you like
Something to warm your heart...Sure is cold tonight
I'll ask the DJ, to play some songs that ain't so sad
You're beginning to make me feel...like heartache's not so bad...

We can dance....or just sit here and talk
We can laugh or cry...I'll let it be your call
This new found freedom...Lets us rise above it all..
'Cause we both know....How to fall

The Song of the Night

My sanity has crumbled
Under the weight of the day
If only that old morning sunrise
Could just fade to black...and stay

'Cause, if darkness conceals
And emptiness heals
I'm gonna be alright

Ebony melody....Whisper to me
'Til I'm lost in the song of the night

Oh sweet refrain of the evening
Cover the carnage...she made
Give me a reason...for being....
So my hurt won't shine in the day

And if darkness conceals
And emptiness heals
I'm gonna be alright

Ebony melody....Whisper to me
'Til I'm lost in the song of the night

Come soft shadows... sing with me
My pain has perfect harmony
Come soft shadows... sing with me
My pain has perfect harmony

And if darkness conceals
And emptiness heals
I'm gonna be alright

Ebony melody....Whisper to me
'Til I'm lost in the song of the night....
Still lost in the song of the night

Promised Land

She told it this way.....

He said...San Francisco......
Then up to Mendocino
I said...can I go
He said...I guess you can

'Cause, long since Albuquerque
That's when he first hurt me
My heart's dying to divert me
To the promised land

And...oh, the nights are long
When you're playing tag along
And this old heartache..hanging on
Is getting out of hand

'Wish he would turn this car around
California...feels like shaky ground,
Why is it always one more town
To the promised land

Silence speaks behind the wheel
A change of plans....to Bakersfield
Where Merle Haggard got the feel
Of the lonesome legend man

"Can't say I'm having fun
In this California sun
But,I'm praying for another run
To the promised land

And...oh, the days are cold
When empty's all you've got to hold
And chase love down another road
'So hard to understand

This oak just ain't gonna bend
Maybe, as the story ends
I'll catch another poet's pen
To the promised land

How Could I Not

I cry Jesus...and you're there
Lord...nobody cares...
For me....the way that you do

When peace floods my soul
Like I've never known
How could I Not....love you

On the turbulent sea
There's millions like me
Searching...like I used to do

You said....if I cared
Then your way I'd share
And How could I not....love you

How could I turn away
How could I never say
Thank you..for all that you've done

For laying your life down
Turning my life around
For God giving his only Son

For taking my place
And amazing grace
For healing my heart through and through

For.....forgiving my sins
And being my friend
How could I not.....love you

Hallelujah

Rising from a dust filled hand
Walking through such beauty grand
Offered the forbidden....and.....
Should you?

Perfect...you could never be
Tablets broken at your feet
One of ten, you couldn't keep...
Could you?

As promised, the transfer began
The wounded GOD......LOVE'S bloody hands
And still, you don't understand....
Do ya?

The shame was worn, there in your stead
The Father turned his saddened head
From His gift.....soon wrapped in red...
Sent to ya! Hallelujah!

Will I be once again denied ?
Come thrust your hand into my side
Your unbelief is crucified!
Power to ya! Hallelujah!

Ages pass and in despair
darkness burning everywhere
You don't know what you're doing there
Do Ya?

Awakened from your sweaty trance
Another day...another chance
And to a dusty book, you glance
Should ya?

The pages turn through the battle scene
The enemy is strong and keen!!
Just ask the Lamb to intervene
Would you? Hallelujah!!

You pierced his hands, His back you beat
Now you've become his hands and feet!
Go tell the world of love so sweet!!
Gave to ya!! Hallelujah!!

Hallelujah!! Hallelujah!!
Hallelujah!! Hallelujah!!
Hallelujah!! Hallelujah!!
Hallelujah!! Amen
