James Sessions Poem
her wings do spite her
her soft lips beckon
behind them, shearing mouth does wait-
her black and white heart loves to hate
her claws tear at my flesh-
with soft hand wrapped in lacey mesh
her skin glows with light-
her scales as dark as night
my heart she handles with gentle peace-
then devours with ferocious teeth
this angel, her wings do spite her

James Sessions Poem
In slumber I lay on white sheets in the barn.
Sweet thoughts of a lover from which I am torn.
I can still smell the scent of her soft fragrant hair.
To my side I find that my Cougar is there.
Calmly he paces.
He claws at my arm to warn me, beware!
The ghost that is floating just feet in the air!
I leap to my feet, my lover is gone, the sorrow I feel will forever live on.
I run to the woods and I turn to see that the ghost is closing in on me!
I stop.
Only a face, just mouth, just eyes.
But calmness comes over me as I realize,
The ghost is my brother
How is this so?
Perhaps it is love he is trying to show.

James Sessions Poem
I can’t digest it, but I must,
forced to the stepped on and spat on,
my ideals and my thoughts
I see no great dawn,
only the darkness of rage
- accept it I must,
captive in my cage
NO! – accept it I’ll not!
I’ll not live in a cage,
nor will I fear the darkness of rage
nor be stepped on
or spat on or worse,
my pride a gift or maybe a curse
I despise, it I hate it
It hates me back,
these thoughts and ideals,
which ones do I trust?
I despise it I do,
but digest it I must

James Sessions Poem
Tiring, in my bed I lay-
angels and demons will soon come to play
within my mind they wisp and wander-
their time, when sheets I am under
past and future are one and the same-
sometimes un-nerving and sometimes so tame
at times aware, but mostly unknowing-
anticipation and dread always growing
I want to and hate to with strong emotion-
but my soul and my mind can’t control the commotion
this time belongs to the angels and demons

James Sessions Poem
Time is a mocking bird, flight unsure
her path undetermined, but planned and pure-
the aged lust for her
the youth refute her-
her song is joyful, and sad at times
mocking us all with rhythmic rhymes-
death uncertain, but given due
her end, she prays, swift and true-
her length of flight, short or long
cannot be traced, lost is her song-
her wings tired
she falls to the earth, hated and desired

James Sessions Poem
I need it, I want it, I lust for it
with burning desire and wanton haste
I must touch and know and taste
these things for I wish, these things that I want
these emotions, my soul does it haunt
its’ children are greed and selfish and hate
I’ll not be a slave to this awful trait
my envy consumes like explosive fire
this need, this want, this terrible desire
alas, I’ll refute it and push it aside
this emotion, both foe and friend to my pride
