I Can Sacrifice For You

© Rodgers Roger
Every single day Sunrise to sunset I think of you, How whole And how well God endowed you With beauty so incomparable, Yet I can't stand going through a life, Knowing You will never be mine. To cherish you I will To treasure I shall To long for you I do, Just like your presence, Your absence tires me apart But you can't help it Who you fall in love for, Its not like choosing which taxi To carry you through, So I understand If I am asked to say the last word, I would go speechless Your story leaves me incompetent I see many things that leave me tongue twisted, As I slowly die away. I would courageously say it That you rock my life, But you wouldn’t care, So what would be left of me Than to kiss your soft lips and run away, As I risk the silence you would blow on me forever? But I can't keep this heart of mine dreaming, Things that will never happen, If we can’t make them happen, I will make one step back But not step away I will nail this love for you And surrender my last passion I will make a sacrifice I will do anything you ask of me, Even pull a sharp spear Into this heart that bleeds for you, So that blood can stream out this chamber, Since without you my life isn't worth the save. I would sacrifice anything for you my brainteaser, My early morning song, Yes I would sacrifice for you But only when you know, And believe I'll never stop loving you, Even to the deep dark grave I would go smiling If only I know You distinguish my love From other people

My Dad: Jim Carter

I have learned lessons
And a lesson
A lesson of love
A lesson of accountability
A lesson of trust
A lesson of Prayer
A lesson of family
A lesson of silence
These lessons
And this lesson
Have I learned from you
I get each word
And hold it so strong
Maybe you thought
By teaching me all this
We would be tone apart?
No way, Instead i have learned to treasure you more
I know what it means
To live without a dad
But I now also know how sweet it is
To live with a dad
A real dad, a real father and friend
I don’t think I would be what I am now
Without you around
You have sheltered me
You have dressed me
You have fed me
You have fathered me
Tirelessly
You have showed me the way
And walked there with me
You have comforted me
Always
Even in your silence
I learn a million lessons
In you laughter
I learn trillions
In your walk
I follow your foot steps
You're the hero of my life
The man I imitate daily
The hope i hold to
The miracle of my life
I love you dad,
And I can die saying that...
I love you my dad Jim Carter

Dedicated to the most wonderful man i know on the globe
My Dad, Jim Carter.. Happy Father's day dad... You shine my life

Love and Hatred

Twin brothers born of humanity
Raised in the heart land
Fed by circumstances
Shaped by choice
Same freedom
Different destinies

I saw Love grow with limbs
Stretching wide to pull everything
To himself even hatred
And i saw hatred grow with craws
Hiding them in his bosom
Till they grow longer and stronger

I thought this Love kid was too touchy
And i treasured Hatred he was for special occasions
Defending my weaknesses and flaws
Love was ridiculing my my all efforts
He was becoming extravagant, giving this giving that
Not like Hatred a sweet heart who measured
According to what he treasured

Years have gone by and
Love has prospered with many friends
Many people giving back to him
Yet hatred brought out his claws,
His fangs came out
And he grew three horns

One of rejection
another for despair
And bigger one with this word engraved 'loser'
I watched these twins
Walk different directions like light and darkness
Their waring grand fathers

I walked two their birthday parties
Few turned up, gave him crowns and called him Dad
For hatred the party was noisy
Many gathered worshiped him
In fear of the horns
Love commanded his servants to dress all that came
with compassion, faithfulness, and honor
Hatred commanded his subjects
To kill every one that came for the party
Many died few survived

Who Cares About Poets

Who cares about poets? Even when they turn difficulty into design Making worlds with words Shaping destinies with clauses Taming language with pauses Moulding life with form Who cares about us? Who cares about poets? Even when they turn ugly into beauty Defining ashes like they do gold Unveiling darkness like they do light Exposing hatred like they do love Cutting through grief like they do joy Who cares about us? Who cares about poets? Even when they tone out silence into reasonable sound Bringing the rumble of oceans on paper Enterpreting sounds of flowers and thirtles Making mountains laugh and rivers weep Shuttinng mouths of lions and making ants wail Who cares about us? Who cares about poets? Even when they reveal bleeding hearts without surgery Fighting wars without guns Conquering territories without armies Ruling empires without thrones Changing the world with only ink Who cares about us? Maybe Poetry Soup does!

Madiba Is Dead: Nelson Mandela

Giant of justice has visited Baba Umkulukulu
The lion that gave in to wolves like sheep
To be sheered for our own freedom has died
Father of the black and white
Mentor and hero of freedom
Our own Madiba has died
Anti apartheid hero sleeps with grey hair
As we dress in sackcloth to mourn the great Lion
Rolihlahla Son of Thembu has rested
Though We mourn millions with pain
But for the son of Xhosa
We pray for
Instead of mourning
We praise
Praise our own
Rest in peace Mandela

Dad Is Dead

So what?
No more new toys for you
No more bread at breakfast
No more noisy shoes on Christmas
And no more having more

Did i kill dad?
No!
Why then the corporal punishments?
Because dad lost the job
Dad lost the breath
Dad lost the plan
Dad lost you
Dad is no more

Why punish me not the job?
Dad got money from there
Can i go and get it?
Not now but one day you will
What about you?
I will go but i have to first make you know
That i am not Dad because he took off
Now he is sleeping
We have to spend less
Work a lot
Play less

Why don't you awake him?
He is dead!
What does that mean?
It means close your eyes
Stop breathing
Sleep in a big box
People dig a whole hide you there
And you disappear forever

Wow that sounds fun mum can i join the game?
Stop!
Why?
Its no game, its painful game of loss!
Mum, you cry when i climb trees
When dad wants to go with me you scream
But dad always makes cool choices
You don't understand son,

Your father has played the superman game
The monster broke his neck
And now he is lifeless like your toys
All the people that came here were on your Dad's funeral
Your father is dead
You are now an orphan, son!

Mum, dad is in the game
I know dad he will rise again
Kick the monster, break its neck and throw it in fire
Like what he used to about Jesus
And you will know he is not like my toys
I know son
Right now you cant understand but later you will

I know mum
Right now you cant understand but later you will

In memory of my late father who passed on in 1993 while i was a little boy

Just Speechless

Mom, Dad, How can i describe you? A friend of mine describes his parents as Clueless and lost Another said they are just mean and brat One who never wanted to hurt hers told me hers are Distant and lonely I met one who spoke in my ears That his mom is silly And his dad a drunkard Others call them evil, sinister, diabolical, and grumpy Though most choose to say it softly kind, giving, hardworking but unapproachable But how can I describe you, Mom and dad? Saying you are loving and caring Its an understatement How can i describe you? You teach me right from wrong, You encourage and support me , You laugh with me and wipe my tears away, when i cry Yes you are honest, You are wise, You are respectful, You are intelligent, You are a blessing, So warm, tolerant but patient, But that doesn't satisfy it all You're the reason why I'm so strong, Because you inspire You are the reason why am smart Because you nurture You are the reason why i believe Because you faith-filled When I need you, you're always there I hate defeat because you taught me victory Though today I have a confession to make When it comes to describe who you are to me I am just speechless
Dedicated to my dad and mom James and Cinda Carter Like with every relationship, they have had their highs and lows But no one can rule out that its the best couple i know so far They love God, they love each other and them love me Sponsor: Poet Destroyer A Contest: A poem you have not entered in a contest Poet: Rodgers Roger Carter Date:7/18/2014 Time: 12:00:00 AM

Mothers Day: Dad, I Am In Love With Mom

I cant write a better poem for my poet
I cant paint a better portrait for my artist
I cant sing the best song for my rock star
I cant tell the best story about mom
Though,
I can describe a little that I know

Simply the nicest person on the planet
Simply, that's what i know

The strongest of all I have met
She is the lead soloist who thinks she is just backing in a rehearsal
She is the real joy who thinks she is a supplement
She is the real cookie when i need one

So many times I thought
I would never find someone to love me,
The way I needed to be loved...
Then I found mom, just there, always there

There's a story behind everything.
How a picture gets on a wall.
How a scar gets on your face.
Sometimes the stories are simple,
Sometimes they are hard and heartbreaking.
But behind all our stories is always a story
Our mom's story,
Because hers is where ours begin

Dedicated to my mom Cinda Carter a woman who
has walked my heart and left love prints
that nothing can wash away
