The Dragon and the Rose

Outside of civil man’s well tended garden,
A field of briars willfully encroached,
Threatening the peaceful flowers without pardon.
Oh these gardeners fought hard as the briars approached.

“You don’t belong here, you’re not good enough!”
“You are snarled with iniquity and with thorns.”
“You live a life so very harsh and rough…”
“What good can you bring?” they said with deep seated scorn.

And the briar replied that hot summer day,
“Deep within these unforgiving boughs
Lives a flower who doesn’t have much to say
Except a story concerning what you espouse.”

“You see there lives a dragon scorned just over the way,
Who tossed opportunity and harbingers to the wind,
Because life is glorious and he loves to play…
Carefree and cavalier is how his days were spent.”

“He playfully trampled gardens carefully tended,
By pious gardeners without wings who would never fly,
Until he happened upon a flower wonderfully scented,
Crimson in color, the flower reflected beauty in his eye,”

“Eagerly he reached forward to make it his own,
But this glorious flower was protected by thorns,
And gave the dragon a prick to change his tone,
And it was in that prick that true love was born.”

“Now the dragon is older and has spent his days,
Watching over this rose, the love of his life,
Learning about beauty and awe inspiring ways.
His world now protected by thorn and briar.”

“He has discovered great beauty and learned much,
And no longer does the dragon destroy with fire.”
“But should you gardeners even dare to touch
A single branch or bough in this tangled briar…”

“You will face both the Dragon and the Rose,
Who with great love now protect each other,
From pious gardeners who would have them go,
Because neither can be kept on a tether.”

“So snip your lilies and pluck your weeds,
Make your lives as perfect as they can be,
For in this harsh briar we continue to watch love grow,
That of a magnificent Dragon and the beautiful Rose.”

The Power of Pride

As I surmise all that is me strewn and cluttered,
My conscious lies casually shorn and shuttered,
For here lie the spoils of stubborn iniquity,
I shuffle and toil, floundering in frailty.

Oh what great havoc, what conscious so lewd,
Creates such traffic which now spoils the fruit,
Of truly righteous deeds committed by a scurrilous man,
Of whom I could no better know, no better understand,

For this terribly lost and forever forlorn soul,
Is none other than me shivering and sniveling so,
And as helpless as I suddenly appear to be,
I now understand the strength pride provides so easily,

For there is purpose in pride, yet none in shame,
As ambition carries us blind to who’s at blame,
And just where is the woe when the devil may care,
For we are soon found alone, our conscious left bare,

And as I embark into this desolate place,
My horrors so dark, my fears crimson in taste,
Forward I race into the perilous pit,
With none other to blame for this simple life I quit.

Poetry Soup

Since joining just yesterday,
I have not had much to say,
As I sit here idle,
Waiting for a title,
I watch as you pass my way,

I am honored to be here,
While a select few may jeer,
Mostly I can see hope,
From the end of my rope,
Bringing about a joyous tear,

For all poets who have been called,
Disenchanted or enthralled,
Our mission always true,
We inform and move you,
To make you act or make you halt,

To rise above and expound the truth,
Or to lose ourselves in a groove,
Whether blatent or far out,
We live to learn - live to shout,
About love, laughter or the blues,

For although I may be new,
To this small poetic group,
I see what you've built,
With talent and skill,
Namely this Poetry Soup,

The Scholastic Mechanic!

Please allow me to introduce,
Without any pardon or excuse,
A man who needs no introduction,
To those he’s given instruction,

A man who has always helped me,
To understand extreme fallacy,
Through guidance and edification,
He spreads his extreme education,

Now he never reserves his lessons,
And always leaves his impressions,
Upon those he teaches his schtick,
For he is our scholastic mechanic,

Always he tinkers under the hood,
To find the best of what is good,
And now without further adieu,
I am proud to present to you,

A man who’s mind always races,
And affords us other head cases,
A view most definitely skewed,
By great wisdom and high I.Q.,

A man whom I proudly call my brother,
Who’s humble wit makes him tougher,
Than my boastful wages however manic,
…Our G-Man the scholastic mechanic!

A Better Life...

A Better Life

I don't know why she hides,
I don't know why she shivers,
I don't know why she cries,
I don't know why she quivers,

Daddy's girl is all alone,
And I don't know how to help her,
Daddy's world is all but blown,
And I don't know what to tell her,

What happened to her confidence,
And her self assured way,
Which used to be so prominent,
In all she did or would say,

Who stole my little girl’s heart,
And drove her to such confusion,
She now slowly does her part,
As if all she has is illusion,

She knows I would kill any other man,
For doing such harm to my little girl,
But this is much more than I can stand,
As it has forever blown apart my world,

They took ‘steps’ to the next level,
And now they each look to me in despair,
I warned them each to be careful,
But the forbidden fruit they shared,

Now I look at one without trust,
Yet I still love my son so very much,
I still hold her distant as I must,
But she needs Daddy’s healing touch,

Why do I have to be the bad guy,
When my children need my help,
I pushed one out and I still cry,
While I can't help her help herself,

There is no way to win here,
And my tears won't stop falling,
I have lost them both I fear,
And my fears won't stop calling,

I don’t know what to do anymore,
Or how I can help either of them,
Both children my heart cries out for,
But the truth is neither can win,

And for this my darling kids,
I am so sorry I can’t decide,
Which to disown or which to kiss,
When I am actually on both your sides,

So I pray that both her and him,
Of whom I am so very proud,
Do not give up and become victims,
Who wear this pain like a shroud,

I pray both of you hear my advice,
Get over this hardship and understand,
This lesson with its terrible price,
Is one where you do as best you can,

To forgive and move on from here,
Without Dad having to choose a side,
And to let go of all that you fear,
If you want to grow to have a better life.

Americans For Fair Elections

Americans For Fair Elections

Who is it now that pays the way,
Of politicians gone astray,
And who now will pave the way,
For that which they were paid,

We are Americans who stand true and proud,
Witnessing incredible devastations,
So we shout our mantra strong and proud,
We are 'Americans For Fair Elections'!

One contribution from those who vote you in,
Is all a candidate should be able to get.
To fund a political race to represent,
America for the people within their District,

People who no longer have a voice,
People now easily disregarded,
Who now find they have less of a choice,
Than when this democracy started,

No more party or government matching fund,
No special interest groups or big business,
All lobbying our district reps one by one,
And deciding who will lead our districts

These contributions have stolen our choices,
And all that we Americans hold most sacred,
These powers have now stolen our voices,
And our democracy now sits degraded,

We 'Americans For True Representation',
Now must take action and take back the reins,
We 'Americans For Fair Elections'
Must now rid ourselves of these stains,

And with the help of our fellow Americans,
We shall return the power to the people,
With every one of us taking a stance,
For together we are indeed powerful,

Through calls, letters, and petitions,
Once again we will make our voices heard,
Offering no retreat and no concessions,
We remain staunch and true to our word,

So be warned you who stand in our way,
For we will remember those with questions,
And those who will stand with us this day,
As 'Americans For Fair Elections'

P.S. I'M the Salesman

I spill my heart,
I spill my guts,
And you may ask,
Why all this fuss?

Owners Selling Dogs,
Owners Selling Guns,
Oh there is more,
And it's been great fun.

Day after day, month after month,
Countless are the hours I spend,
To create this behemoth,
Seemingly to no end.

Owners Selling Cars,
Owners Selling Trucks,
Oh there is so much more,
But I'm having no luck.

So to you I turn,
To seek your advice,
Do I have more to learn,
Or will this suffice?

Owners Selling Motorcycles,
Owners Selling Motorhomes,
But one thing I just wish is,
I didn't have to do this on my own.

No brokers, no dealers,
No agents or salesmen,
You'd think that clients,
Would now be rushing in.

Owners Selling Businesses,
Owners Selling Real Estate,
Look and you will find,
The greatest I could create.

So if you have the time,
To surf the net some,
Check out my sites,
And just add dot com

Owners Selling Boats,
Owners Selling Land,
Please just take a look,
P.S. I'm the salesman.

The True Christian's Mission!

In my quest for this mission,
Many days and nights I prayed,
But plagued by selfish visions,
I asked what the Spirit had to say,

The battle engulfed self and spirit,
Screams of desire flooded my mind,
While fierce haunting demons appeared,
My voice of reason was such confined.

Yet the Spirit moves in silence,
And while this Spirit ever grows,
It ever gently reminds us,
By whispering gentle blows,

Thus the tranquil wind,
Burst in upon the storm,
And the quieting din,
Deafened hellish horns,

And in hush's sweet embrace,
The Spirit within me said,
Messages filled with grace,
Of how others must be fed.

Give them glimpses of wonder,
Inspire them with your faith,
Yes, give them much to ponder,
Yet in a much more simple way.

Don't lose them in scripture,
But to the word remain true,
Only teach that which is sure,
And that which you can prove.

There will be those who oppose,
All that I would have you say,
But this is why you were chose,
For this great mission today.

For you have been surely blessed,
With a faith complete and whole,
You've been prepared for this test,
Now go and share what you know.

And keep in mind your quest,
To gather the children who know,
That love's the answer to this test,
Upon which a true Church can grow.

Now I come before you today,
For help in spreading this word,
For its the Church we must save,
To find a path true and sure.

The end times are now upon us,
We need to be better prepared,
With a Church which is more just,
To embrace those lost and scared.

Our Church should always be righteous,
And offer salvation's warm embrace,
It should help the groom to find us,
And with our lamps full we will wait.

But our task reaches further still,
As there is much work to be done,
For we need to ensure God's will,
On earth as it is in heaven!

We'll teach love and forgiveness,
Of both trespasses and debts,
Our mission does not glorify us,
Rather the Lord who gave us this quest.

Once we believe our mission complete,
Humility will show us we have more to do,
And we will always endlessy seek,
That which the Spirit tells us is true.

And above all we will keep in mind,
That it takes a heart wide and great,
Filled with all the love we can find,
To pass through the narrow gate.

So a call to action must be made,
For our great holy quest has begun,
Visit us whether or not you're saved,
At True Christian Church dot com.

A Saga Awaits You

The crowd pushes as your soul pulls,
You along your path to obscurity,
Where the light is engulfed,
By the clouds of eternity...

Timidly you lag behind,
Lost in the eddies of time,
And slowly you trudge,
To the same old grind...

But for the one who sees,
Dreams in splendored color,
The seeker holds the keys,
As one searches for the other...

Sparks of desire flood your mind,
While the cold dark streets glow,
From burnt embers lost in time,
And mounds of dashed hopes below...

You thrash and flail in utter desperation,
And you need that which can not be known,
Unless one is seasoned by your imagination,
When the dream is passed and the hope is grown...
Then it comes to you in a flash,
Love must be shared to exist,
So to others your hope is passed,
And your light escapes the mist...

The seeker surveys the vast multitude,
To find the source of the light,
Where the gift of hope was shared and grew,
Piercing the thin veil of night...

And to these dreamers is dared,
A glimpse of wisdom anew,
For you who love and share,
A saga awaits you...

Prepare to finally see,
The source for finding purpose,
In all that you do and can be,
Lies in what you can do for us...

For selfish deeds trap us,
And kindness offers you much more,
Once you apply this to practice,
Blinding light will pour forth...

And as the secret is shared,
Love rekindles the awakenings,
Among all those lost and scared,
Wonder and awe the new day brings...

Remember the grandness of this tale,
The next time you find yourself lost,
For what you offer is the holy grail,
So much hope... for so little cost!
