Lost

Lost
Lost in thought.
Lost in prayer.
Lost in life.
I know not where I am going.
I know not why I care.
Who can know what tomorrow brings.
Who can foretell the future.
No one can for sure.
Not I.
No Not I.
All that I know is that I am lost.
And find the words I know to be inadequate to tell.
To tell you how I feel.
To tell you how I care.
I can only hope my prayers will reach you.
I can only dream that you'll understand.
For if I am lost you'll find me.
For that is what you promised you would do.
I believe you'll keep your promise.
Because you have before.
I will close my eyes now.
And rest in fact that when you find me.
I am lost.
Lost no more.

First Time At Poetrysoup Cafe

As I enter, I look around taking in how the seating is arranged. Not merely looking for a place to sit and rest or eat. I am looking for a place to study. No, not from a book or laptop or tablet. But from those around me.

I look for a seat that will set my back to a wall. Not because I am afraid of whats behind me. But merely because if a wall is behind me or better yet a corner I will know that I have a view of everyone. If I can view everyone it is less likely that I will miss the story they have to tell. Everyone here has a story to tell and I for one would rather not miss a single one.

I believe that all stories have merit. Whether it be to entertain or teach a lesson. All stories deserve to be heard. That is why I am here. That is why I came.

I came to listen and observe. To hear every story. To be entertained and Learn.

I may even tell my tale. Maybe even a story or two. Though I am not as eloquent or well versed as others here I am new and I am learning so bear with me as I will with you.

As I spot the seat I am looking for I walk over and before I can sit I am welcomed by Thomas Simunsen and several others. I apologize for not getting their names because my memory is crap. They laugh and I immediately know I like here, especially when I find out they serve beer.

I order my beer and I sit down.

I listen and I drink.

I sit there until closing time. Never did really want to leave.

But leave I must and come back I shall.

As I walk home I hear my stomach grumble. I realize I never ordered any food. I just sat there nursing my beer all night, listening as everyone told their stories.

I may not have eaten any food while I was there but I realize I am leaving with a warmth and fullness of spirit that will bring me back for more.

The Makings of a Man

What is a man?
Flesh and bone?
Heart and Soul?
All of these
or none

What is a man?
How are we to measure?
His Actions, Words, Appearance?
All of these
or none

A Man Cries

A Man Cries

(Tear)
Runs down my face
(Tear)

Broken
This I clearly see
Broken
However it may be
Broken

(Tear)
I like to fix things that are broken
(Tear)
How do you fix whats broken
(Tear)
If it doesnt accept it is broken
(Tear)

This is the problem
The problem that plagues me
This is the problem
The reason for the tears
This is the problem
The conundrum that I face
This is the problem
The pain that makes me weep
This is the problem

(Tear)
I cry because I care
(Tear)
I cry because I fear
(Tear)
I cry because your broken
(Tear)
I cry because I cant fix you
(Tear)
I cry because you dont want me to
(Tear)

These tears I cry
in darkness
These tears I cry
in light
These tears I cry
in sorrow
These tears I cry
in hate
These tears I cry
in agony
These tears I cry
in all my might
These tears I cry

(Tear)
I cant stop crying
(Tear)
I really wish I could
(Tear)
I am a man
(Tear)
But men truly do cry too
(Tear)
These tears I shed
(Tear)
I shed them here for you
(Tear)
I shed these tears because your broken and I cant fix you no matter how I try
(Tear)

Words

Words can be written
Words can be read
Words can be spoken
Words can be heard
Words can be meaningful
Words can be meaningless
If a word can be all of these and more
Then truly what is a word?
