Attitude of Gratitude

From the depth of my heart
springs forth a fountain of gratitude
reaching out to your majestic seat
in my most humbled attitude

I'm thankful for the moments I grew dim sight
and you stepped in to give your light
the moments I was imprisoned by fright
and you gave me wings to take my flight
soaring even to greater heights

I'm grateful for those freezing cold nights
you availed me shelter and warmth
also for the days my ways weren't right
yet, you never rid me off your breath

I'm thankful that I could still smile
despite situations that made my senses go whirl
you ensured i didn't become an imbecile
even when my heart was immensely Vile
you didn't petition me in your case file

I'm grateful for those awkward times
when I didn't get all I thought I deserved
you knew better that they were sour limes
rather, you served me chilled sweet Oranges from your reserve

If words were to be green grasses
I'd have offered you a thick forest
If I were to be a World-class artist
I'd have painted you my GRATEFUL HEART
If I was created as an Angel
I'd have sang you an incessant THANK YOU

Since I'm but a Writer and presenter
I've scribbled you these lines
presenting it before the earth's multitude
in expression of my utmost gratitude
to your existing splendid magnitude

Nigeria At Independence, Yet Hopeful

As the pride of our continent
rolls out her drum of independence
With great achievements clearly evident ;
to groove an extreme life of Indulgence
She blows the trumpet from her resident

Once enslaved,now liberated
She dances ethusiastically in triumph
Her vigour and victory no longer defeated;
Gradually as she outgrows her nymph
and mounts up on platform elevated

Her days ahead are even more green
Though now myopic to see the Big screen
She'll win her spurs if only we get really keen;
and quit venting on her our spleen
but esteem her as a Queen

blame her not for the on-goings in her abode
nor openly tag her good-for-nothing dry bone
encourage her instead to keep up with the high-way code;
and she'll sooner become the chief corner stone
yelling out in a more cheerful tone

Call her not a nonentity
for she firmly stands as a true identity
she yearns for true diplomats to uphold her dignity;
as she gradually unfolds her creative ability
to nurture heroes of her nativity

I mean Her, our country NIGERIA
a nation envied from afar by foreigners
endowed with so great a treasure on every area;
birthing diverse calibre of World-class designers
Hoist the Flag as you go for Goals,NIGERIA!

Oh, Sometimes

Oh! sometimes, how it feels so heavy inside
When words can scarcely express
When laying back on a recliner would barely do
When looking out the window Won't do
When singing a loved song won't do
When taking a walk won't do
when listening to music won't do

Oh! Sometimes, when it seems so grey out there
How reading a book can't help
When people can't come to rescue
When everything seems all screwed up
When life's story seems all jumbled up
Then will I run to you
To take refuge and anchor in your peaceful arms
Though I know those arms are always open
Still sometimes, it feels they are interlocked from me

Oh! sometimes, how it gets so hot around here
When the heat and pressure of life comes too strong
When it feels like I'm all scotched and hung
Steaming hot with sweat and tear drop dripping long
As though everything put together has gone wrong
on my ground I'll remain and proclaim "to you I belong"
Then will I run to your shadow for shade

Oh! those times, I feel so hungry and thirsty for you
But never get sufficient filling as desired
Rather left with deeper want and yearning for you
I could only hold-still and keep on trusting you
Inspite all these, I know you are very near
Though I can't see you with my eyes
I hear your fine voice saying to me... I'm with you
I hide only for you to get more desperate...
In all I've learnt not to trail you using my senses
But through faith follow you closely by heart...

Another Reason To Be Thankful

Lying helplessly in that hospital bed
is a fellow panting for air
though he pays dearly for an artificial one
He deeply yearns for intensive care

toiling behind bars is an innocent fellow
Convicted of a crime he never committed
restricted from the sunlight and freedom
living his days in waste and boredom

roaming the streets is that lonely child
in search of a friend and place to call home
hoping that life on her would be a bit more mild
and give her Love and Shelter with a dome

living in that admirable castle
is an extremely wealthy fellow
wanting for more than just a nestle
he craves for peace as he looks out his window

in a casket six feet beneath
lifelessly lies a fellow rid off breadth
once pregnant with fascinating dreams
but now terminated before birth

exclusively sited in this auditorium
are Royalties and dignitaries
descending from David's Throne
otherwise called the Root of Jesse

a generation saved with Amazing grace
and called into a rewarding race
approved to approach the throne of Grace
whenever in need to seek God's face

Let's now chant thankfully extravagant praise
that he may lengthen our days
and give us a wholesome raise
that we may in our generation set the pace.

Shall I, Shall I Not

At the waking of each morning
We are faced with two options;
to go back to sleep and dream our dreams
or wake up to reality and chase our dreams
It’s up to us to decide…shall I, shall I not

Default in everyman is the desire for a brighter life
Though the mind be stuck with the immediate
Oh, that we may take an angle and see with the eagle eye
Then will our vision pop up crystal clear
But then, it’s up to us to decide…shall I, shall I not

Between the mountain top and the valley low
Lies an adventure with rugged edges
To serve as a foothold or a scare bomb
Shall I draw up strength from within and ascend
Or shall I give in to the fear of the unknown and decline
It’s up to me to decide… shall I, shall I not

Down the lane of destiny
Poses the ditches of our inadequacies
Against the prowess of our valour
Our subconscious awaits a command to function
Again, it’s up to us to choose, shall I, shall I not

Lurked within the human hardware
Are programmed two indispensable soft wares
The flesh that wars and seeks its gratification
Against the spirit that seeks its sanctification
Who gains a reign is solely dependent
on my choice, your choice

As the journey through life proceeds
Will you for past failures regress?
For present pressure intensity, repress
Or against all odds, take giant strides to progress
The choice is all yours’…. shall I, shall I not.

Diamonds From Dust

Now, I understand better
How, God steps into my matter
all the while I'd thought He cared less
By letting me toil in Life's mess

He sat on his throne rather,
as a Loving Father gazing upon me
as my comfort one after the other
gradually was plucked off me

He had me strip off like a dress
all that seemed of great value to me
Leaving me in want and emptiness
that I may look deep down within me

In my distress I cried out in pain
feeling as though no longer existing
all efforts to put me together went in vain
as the components of me kept splitting

I lost a glimpse of my personality
clouded by my heart splitting mishaps
with fore-sight appearing miles away from reality
"Patience oh Child!" He said,the dawn is near perhaps;

Now, I rejoice and embrace those seizures
for they're here to dig up in me treasures
utilizing my most disheartening story
Even to ascribe God undivided Glory

Oh, Troubled Soul ''Grief''

Oh troubled soul, oh troubled soul

How wretched, how battered

Like an ass yoked with a cart

Art thou heavy and ladened?

Oh troubled soul, oh troubled soul

How grieved, how bewildered

like the beast of burden

Art thou beat and befuddled?

Oh troubled soul, oh troubled soul

How beset, how deserted

like a Rose trampled upon

art thou bleary and weary?

Oh troubled soul, oh troubled soul

How bemused, how beleaguered

like milk spilled over the floor

art thou in mess and helpless?

Oh troubled soul, oh troubled soul

How drained, how disenchanted

like a Broken Cistern

art thou fussy and thirsty?

Oh troubled soul, oh troubled soul

How priceless, how Prowess

like the Oasis in a desert

Thou art cherished and highly treasured.

Love Supernatural

Dearest Holy Spirit,

I'm grabbing this moment/medium
to tell you before the whole world
how so Dearly I LOVE YOU
More than words can express
You share the deepest part of Me,MY SOUL
You Love me to a Fault
You are the one for me
My Best Friend,
My ever Present Paraclete,
I'll LOVE You till when finally
I can see you with my eyes in Heaven.

                                   Love,
                 Your Mortal Darlin'.

Birthday Special

I'm taller
I'm stronger
I'm wiser
I'm better
Much better
than me yesterday.

Experience taught me
Failure encourag'd me
Challenges shaped me
Passion consumed me
Destiny preserved me
Yet, the Future awaits me

The Farther I flee from Mediocrity
The Closer, I draw to Superiority
through my life Journey of reality
I owe it all to You in Sincerity
My Pride and Dignity
Lord, God of my meaningful BIRTHDAY.
