Wishful Thinking

My flesh yearns for your touch
As my soul cries out your
name
In my heart, I miss you
Although my mind wants to
send you away...
Our honest words hurt
Is it to late to take them back?
I wanted to hear you say
"I love you"
But you regretted that fact.
I dedicated songs to you
Because I felt that the lyrics
were true
But now when I hear the songs
on the radio
I feel like a fool for missing you
Wondering if your foolish
enough to miss me too.

Blessing

Priceless pearl
my hidden diamond
love's sweet jewel

Heaven sent
Angelic countenance
Beauty so pure

Lovely daughter
your character delights
my devotion forever

Heartbeat on screen
My unbelief ceased
the moment
You
first squeezed my finger

More Than a Conqueror

I Am Success
Indeed, I Am Blessed
Inside and Out
I Am Beautiful.

I Am an Achiever
Most Definitely a Believer
in the Most High God.

I Dream Big

I See Far

I Know MY Destiny Awaits

I Am Wisdom
I Am Knowledge
My Experiences are named Pain

My Yesterday's were filled with Rain
BUT
An Eternity with my Savior is what I will Gain.

Autumn Is Here

Electricity is in the air

as the wind kiss skin and tease hair

and Red and Gold leaves float

to the ground

as the little squirrels scurry around

Autumn is here

Pumpkin patch field trips

as apples are dipped in candy

with caramel and buttered popcorn

and savory turkey legs at this year's state fair

laughing on

hay rides and carving pumpkins

while eating pumpkin pie

sitting near a bonfire as the smoke stings our eyes

Autumn is here.

Ghost tales whispered

and

marshmallows roasted

while sipping hot apple-cider

giving sweets to the sweeties knocking at our door

exclaiming "TRICK OR TREAT"

and

"MAY WE HAVE MORE"

Autumn is here.

Families gathered together

seated from great to least

with humble head's bowed

in blessed thanksgiving

as a kingly feast delight senses

and conjure up images of the next season

Autumn is here.

Prayer

Jesus,

Keep me in your presence

and bless me with your grace

Allow me to walk in your will

and hide not your face

Teach me your precepts

forever and always

and I vow to follow you all of my days.

Shield me with your power

Keep me in perfect peace

Cover me with your blood

Do with me as you please

Let not my enemies overtake me

as I seek your face

Love me Lord until infinity

so I can run this race

Hold me in your hands

so I may proclaim your name

HIS plans are greater than my plans

because Jesus deserves the fame.

Weeping Willow

Elongated branches
Lingering...
Poignant yet picturesque
Pointed little leaves
So comely and lush
The breeze
makes them dance
Quivering and shiver
Intricately entwined tree stalk
Robust and rugged is its center
The gust
makes it sway
As if it hears music
Distanced far away
Or...
sweetly whispering
To stay and pray.

My Rage

A tornado tore through
this place
Left us dazed and confused
You refused to stay while I refused to leave
Left this place in disarray
Let’s leave it as it is
you say
While I say let’s fix up
our space
Maybe
At first, you said the opposite and
I thought different
Checked myself in the mirror
And began to listen to my heart
And your voice until
It stilled and you just stopped
Speaking…
Or maybe your voice is my heartbeat
And
It stopped ticking…
A tornado tore through this place
And in my mind we both are prisoners
You unleashed me from your life
As I kept you chained to my soul
A tornado tears through this mind
Shifts me to and fro
Memories upon memories in this
shabby space
Left me picking up these pieces
Of our life as they lay.
Trying to fix “us” when there is only me
Crying over “we” when there is no you
A tornado tore through this place here
Inside my heart
A gaping hole is there
Cold and dark
Picking up my shattered puzzle
Years later
Like pieces of glass from a faded picture
In our broken life.

More Than a Conqueror Pt 2: Quiet Strength

Who am I
You ask?

I am success
Indeed, I am blessed.
Inside and out
I am beautiful.

I am an achiever
Most definitely a believer
in the most High God.

I dream big
I see far
I know my destiny awaits.

My knowledge is power
I am wisdom
My experiences are named pain.

I am worthy
Quite trustworthy
My trust is in the Lord

My yesterdays were filled with rain
but eternity is what I will gain
for my quiet strength.

Love's Blues

Why do I fight against myself?
When all I wanna do is love you.
Why should I feel ashamed?
When all I wanna do is hold you.
My mind keeps repeating no
And I’m afraid to just let go.
Why am I hurting?
Am I hurting you too?
So many things I wish I could tell you.
And oh so many times I would run to you.
My heart is breaking
When I am near you.
Wishing I can reach out to feel you
And whisper how much I adore you.
Things are happening so fast
Beyond my control
And I cannot fathom why I anticipate your
Smile
because when I am graced with your presence
I simply wish to be
Miles
away from you.
Why am I hurting you?
Why are you letting me hurt you?
Love makes my heart blue because I’m in love with you
Happiness does not equal joy
It’s a ploy to get my heart open for receiving you
And I am not ready for it
I am not ready for you
I am not ready for love just yet.

In My Feelings

In my feelings

What happened to us
When and why
It all fell apart
You and I

Your love went away
Like a pond in a drought
Leaving me to question
How it all started out

Blaming myself for our mistakes
The reason you lost interest in the first place
And no straight answer will come from your mouth
Just excuses full of unreasonable doubt

You just took your love and carried it elsewhere
And left me here pitying myself
Yes, I ended it for our own good
But damn it, I thought you understood

Someday, I will get over you
and start this love thing brand new
I won’t make the same mistakes with him
Like I have done with you

I’ll be better and stay true
To what is important to me
Something you couldn’t do
Because you simply didn’t want to.
