Hooking Up Is Mad

She is a Ugandan girl
The odds are stacked against her
That is her first hurdle
She is also a Christian girl
That is her second hurdle
Clearly, hooking up is bad

She goes ahead
She braves the storm
She hits the bar
Try as she may
The good ones won’t play
Clearly, hooking up is hard

She lays out her cards
Rack, arse and eyes
She works it, oh does she work it
Her trap is set; at last a rat is caught
Off to bed with a barely a name known
Clearly, hooking up is mad

Come the morning
Exposed in the harsh light of day
Sneaking out with shoes in hand
Breath laced with the stale smell of booze
Shoulders low under the weight of regret
Clearly, hooking up is sad.

Dreams and Third World Countries

Achievable
If your parents are corrupt public officials

                                Attainable
If you embezzle some public funds

                                Acceptable
If tis what your parents do

                                Doable
If you run a pretend NGO and divert the funds

                               Reachable
If you warm the beds of some well-placed fellows

                               Probable
If you have very generous relatives in the diaspora

                               Possible
If you are exceptionally optimistic by nature

I Cannot Settle For Less

I cannot settle for less
With passion and drive
ambition and brains
I say, that he is best

We laugh, we play
We fight, we mend
The left, the right
The top, the bottom
I feel, tis meant to be

Honest to God
Tis answers I seek
My mind made up
For sure tis not
So help me God
I need your grace.

How Much More Greedy Can You Get

If its minerals, tis you taking from there
If its oil, tis you taking from there
How much more greedy can you get,

If its exports, tis you taking from there
Even imports, tis you taking from there
How much more greedy can you get,

In government, tis you taking from there
Investment, tis you taking from there
How much more greedy can you get,

Oh, you sure have no scruples
As even in church, you are taking from there
How much more greedy can you get.

Tis Our Fate

Some call it a hole
I call it a hollow
For without you here
There is only a memory
But even if you are gone
I believe you are home
I wait for that day
That day we’ll all reach the gates
For tis all of our fate
To face the angel of death
For you, for all I pray
That the Lord will let us stay
For He alone can say
You have truly earned your stay.

Good Wins the Wars

Be it Hitler against the world
Be it Rachelle against the Musketeers
Or even that blood thirsty rebel leader
Somehow, evil loses the war.

Be it Superman against Lex Luthor
Be it Batman against the Joker
Or even Ben 10 against Vilgax
Somehow, evil loses the war.

And in the ultimate battle
Of the greatest good against the greatest evil
Satan has always lost the war.

This Chance

Tis a slippery slope they say
Tis too complicated they say
Tis sure to fail they say

But what in life is easy
Commitment tis never breezy
Divided we stand sure is messy

Pursue my love I shall
Right or wrong tis my call
This chance I’ll give my all
