Omebe Rita Poem
My wrapper loose day after day
My motion and emotion unstable
I forget to think
But I wasn’t drunk
I remember in a trance
Stable I was
My wrapper tight on my torso
Not divulging the firm breasts
I remember vividly when it began to loose
Days turned nights
The sun withheld its radiance
I mourned unending
Breasts tumor I had
Oh! The pain hurts
One more ill has befallen me
A spinster at 50
Severally dumped I was
By men on trial
The life I live was wreaked
My heart fell apart
Picking up the fossils
Amidst courage and optimism
Dreadful incidence I traversed
Since my birth, early 60’s
Aargh! I’m bigoted
But utmost myopic
I wasn’t sleeping
Merely a spinster’s vision
When at 52
Men on trial returned
I had miscarriages
Pains were inflicted
53, I would be
The wrapper has slipped off
Revealing the sagging breasts
My legacy is gone
I’ve missed my menses
I’ve wept all day
I pled against miscarriage
But all hope is not lost
Because I’m pregnant!

Omebe Rita Poem
YOU CAN GIVE YOUR BEST
Today’s stench in today’s society
Today’s filth in today’s leaders
Today’s corruption in today’s nation
Are the ill-results of yesterday’s ill-attention
Fathers, Mothers, Guardians and Teachers
Invest in today’s kids your fishes
From the seas of wisdom and knowledge
For they will soon be your treasure
In that great and glorious future
Instruct them to fear God
Teach them to detest drugs
Encourage them with your love
And preach to them moral excellence the more
For a child who is well brought up
Will make a nation well built up
Young treasures of the glorious future
Do not treasure any negative pressure
Resist, refuse and reject all attempts
Less you fashion a mere nation for your generation
Be a well of truth
Build a world of honesty
Show the fruit of piety
It’s a mark of integrity
Be a man of accountability
And a woman of transparency
Let your records score your ability
And let the books show that you are good
For when there’s fire on the mountain
They become your extinguishers like the fountain
Let justice reign
Let fairplay rain
For equality/equity
Is a laudable quality
In any qualitative society
Embrace the rule of law
For it is made for all
Don’t release a Barabbas and imprison a Jesus
Because to be above the law
Is to be above the lord
Do the right thing at the right time
Avoid short cuts that cuts short
Make your hay while the sun shines
Make your stitch in time
And save nine
Tread the extra mile
And paint others with a smile
Attend to what others ignore
By doing the work like they’ve never done it before
Don’t join in shedding blood
Just to get to Aso Rock
Play according to the rules
And be ready to accept gallantly
Victory or defeat
Exchange hands of fellowship with non-victors of today
For most winners of today were losers just yesterday
Don’t be seen behind the scene
And don’t hide
Because your country is your bride
Drive her pride
Sell her wares
And be spent for her defence.
By not sitting on the fence,
You can give your best

Omebe Rita Poem
Tomorrow’s history makers
Future record breakers
Are the infants of this day
They should be taught well
In order to lead the way
They should be taken forward
In the fear of God
By the responsible one’s above them
Ye parents, guardians and lecture givers
Train them to keep of boozing
Instruct them never to go logger heads
Improve their knowledge of moral uprightness
So as not to make their regime
Bite the just
Our guardians of later days
Subtract yourselves from the disguised devils
Less they turn you into a bag of disgust
Make yourself confident in yourself
And keep a cold shoulder
Of relying on them
Or at last you become failure’s hosts
Disembark from the plane of the unjust
And board the plane of the just
Desist from hitting below the belt
And permit fairplay to rule
For it is a praise worthy value
Let the truth prevail in all you do
Let your attitude be reflected in your records
So as to be known as an accountable man
And a scrupulously honest woman
Always be on the level
So that they would be your face saver
When the doubting Thomas talks
Deprive yourself from going against the rules
Even when you fail
But move on gallantly
Till you win the race
Lend a helping hand
To those who lose
When you win
Cease to get satisfied
With where you are
Escape from the clutches of laziness
For it hinders your success
Put your best foot forward
And work as if your whole life depends on it
Don’t mask yourself from your responsibility
Express love and care to your mother land
Show her all the beauty
She possess inside her
Give her the strength of pride
To be a gallant bride.

Omebe Rita Poem
Relieved, lawless foxes in the jungle
The lawful lions have vacated
Freedom at stake, shattered
struggle
Some aree cast away, some
migrated
How wee are we before these ones
Harmful contrition and sympathy
Must be walking their gentle minds
How oppressed are pressed without
pity
Rarely rare to see but rarely as
kinds
How wee are we before these ones
Then when they came here anew
Things were new and harmonious
Then these depraved minds were
few
Then life was lively, never as tedious
How wee are we before these ones
Then 'man of means' means
morality
Then there was respect for chiefs
Now 'man of means' means
amorality
Now there is respect for thieves
How wee are we before these ones
Now let's forbear like our forebear
Now I reserve my comments here...

Omebe Rita Poem
We are Wee
The mighty
Wee
We are the
Leaders of
Tomorrow
Thinking of
the glorious
Morrow
We are
Children
that will
make a
healthy nation
For the best
examples of
God's
Creation.
We are...
