Changes

Change is the only constant - we know this to be true,
Some of us wait them out - to see what will ensue.
Still others try to fight them, happy with the way things are,
A few fall into day dreams and wish upon a star.

Some changes are rather easy while others are quite hard,
Which ones must we live with - which ones can we discard?
Changes come throughout our life no matter where we go,
A few come fast and furious, yet others subtle and slow.

When changes come upon us decisions we must make,
All the while juggling priorities - them not to forsake.
The best that we can do while traveling down life's road,
Is to help our friends and family carry their precarious load.

Where Do We Go From Here

Silence is golden they always say,
But I wish you'd talk to me anyway.
Do you somehow blame me for what was done?
Is that why between us there's no more fun?

One cannot always predict what for them must be,
But should you remain aware most things you can see.
We can rebuild this bridge or just leave it alone,
I'll leave it up to you to set the tone.

For this situation I don't know what else to do,
For peace and harmony between us to ensue.
The next move here is yours alone to make,
Our friendship to uphold and keep or for it to forsake!

The Other Side of Life

A loved one has passed to the other side,
Within my heart there to abide.
I know one day they'll be reborn,
That's why there's no reason for me to mourn.

Even though you've gone away,
In my heart you'll forever stay.
Next time around we'll meet again,
You may even be my closest friend!

From time to time I miss you still,
In truth I know I always will.
You've shown me love, laughter, and fun,
That I'll pass on before my time is done.

Death is not something that I dread,
Starting a new life is what lies ahead.
And when it comes my time to go,
I'll still send love to those I know.

Rebuilding a Bridge

Rebuilding a bridge that was blown asunder,
Should we start from above or way down under?
Is it really too late to try once again?
For the two of us to call each other friend?

A heated discussion, words said in anger,
Is how our friendship got into danger.
If we had only taken time to think before we spoke,
Maybe our friendship would not have broke.

We can not retract what we did in the past,
We can only start over and make it last.
I miss your smile - the warmth or your heart,
May we try once again or do we just stay apart?

Fair Weather Friends

It's very easy to be a friend- when nothing's going wrong
But when it does that's when some people- start singing a different song.
They make up fake excuses- or just outright lie
Which makes the one whose hurting- want to curl up and cry.

Some people then become hermits- as in their homes they stay.
Afraid to try friendship again- even keeping their feelings at bay
It's really quite a shame- that this happens all to frequently.
What's even worse is that from others despair and hardships- people find a sense of glee.

Some people cannot grasp the concept- of leaving well enough alone.
Filling their minds of malice- allowing their hearts to turn to stone
Whatever happened to forgiveness- or showing some sympathy
And if you've been in their shoes- where's your empathy?

When are people finally going to learn- that LIFE is way too short!
That their negativity and hatred- the need to abort!
You're only lying to yourself- if you think that from these things you can hide
And it's way too late to change yourself- once you've crossed over to the other side.

Gambler's Creed

Feed me, feed me the slot machine said.
You'll get lots of money and get really ahead.
Just a few more dollars that you won't miss.
My bright lights and sounds bring you such bliss.

Leaving the machines I sat down at a table.
The gambling here may just be more stable.
But try as I might - the cards wouldn't show.
Now what could I do - where could I go?

To these games of chance they say I'm addicted.
But truly I say to you I'm not afflicted!
Off to the races to place a bet.
Somewhere here I've got to win yet!

I've just won a hundred in Casino Town.
Now that only makes me four hundred down.
At a dead run I landed in Bingo.
And at the same time I also played Keno.

The day is over and it's time to rest.
Knowing in this I did my best.
My stomachs empty and my moneys gone.
So for now I'll just say - So Long!

Beltane's Passion

The Goddess and God are handfasted as one.
Before our Sabbot of Beltane is truly done.
The theme is unity - the emotion is love.
As they join us from their home up above.

Bringing people together who were once alone.
The warmth of our fire sets the tone.
Open your heart and your feelings too.
The time is now - for love you're due!

Feasting, laughter, and yes - there's romance.
Grabbing your partner for a quick dance.
Bonding together in heart and song.
Striving to help each other along.

Making your wishes as you jump the balefire.
Thinking only of your hearts true desire.
Joining together in this same fashion.
Every year - to celebrate Beltane's Passion!

Veterans Tribute

Veterans are those who stand up and fight.
Because they know this is right.
They cross the bright and shining sea.
To give us our chance to live and be free.

They leave their families and closest kin.
For God and country our lands they defend.
It's time we pay tribute for all they have done.
They are ALL Heroes - each and everyone.

They did not do this for glory or even fame.
They did not set out to be Heroes - but that is their name.
To those many people that are red, white, and blue.
We stand up proudly today and say "THANK YOU!!!"

Footnote: When I was working in AZ in Security at a Veterans Concert/Benefit I came up with this poem on 11-11-12. So you may also find this poem on their website. In response to the Riverside Resort and Casino Poem the casino is in Laughlin NV near the bridge that goes to Bullhead City AZ.

Mabon

The wheel has turned and the seasons have changed.
In Mother Nature's tapestry - the colors rearranged.
A long time ago we traveled from miles around.
Covering valleys, streams, and the roughest ground.

To celebrate this special day with family and friend.
We're not sure when we can gather this way again.
We've brought our crops from groves and fields.
Whatever to us Mother Nature did yield.

It's a day for thanksgiving with all who are here.
Bringing love and laughter to those we hold dear!
There are so many things to be thankful for.
We're never quite sure what the fates for us have in store!

Be happy if you're not suffering or are in pain.
Feel blessed if true love you've been able to gain!
Return to others what you have been given.
And find pleasure in every day that you're living!

Keep Your Spirits High

Forget all your troubles and climb a mountain high.
Take a breath of fresh air and look upon the sky.
Turn your worries into rainbows and let happiness abide.
Within your home and Spirituality - your problems to confide.

Let your Spirit soar - things really aren't so bad.
When you think about what you've accomplished - there's no reason to be sad.
Look up to the stars when doubts come your way.
Remember where you're from and you won't go astray.

When you see others who are about to lose life's course.
A smile and words of kindness may remove some of their remorse.
We're all put here for a reason - that's something to be sure.
So keep your wits about you and your thoughts of others pure!
