I Still Love You

I STILL LOVE YOU.
Many times when I was with you,
And even now ,when away from you,
I did say to you, how much I loved you,
And even now, I still do love you,
Even when you walk away from me,
I still do love you.

I can dictate my mind,
What to remember and what to forget,
But for my heart, I am helpless,
When it beats, it beats for you,
Whatever it keeps, in its deep shelves,
I know , it keeps my love for you.

You got into my life,
You infected me, with this love virus,
And the further you move from me,
The more its concentration grows,
Making my body fragile, with a broken heart,
But still, I don’t lament ,
If pain is all love offers, that’s all my pleasure.

I do not wish to know, if you still care,
But I wish to let you know, that I still do care,
I live for you, I care only for you,
It’s the only reason, why I can’t follow you,
For if this distance is happiness to you,
I gladly offer it to you, for you are all to me.

For I still love you.

Sometimes

SOMETIMES
Sometimes we are hurt, but we get to heal,
Sometimes we are low, but we sooner get the zeal,
Sometimes we fail, but we still get to sail,
And when we are through, and all the times gone,
Then we get to know, that our strong will,
Always defeats these times, and we keep going,
For we are strong.

We miss some times, once they are gone,
For they were times, that made us glow,
For they were times, that made us who we are,
We long for some times, though they are gone,
For they were times, that cheered our hearts,
But still we go on, time after time,
May be, some times will come again,
To cheer us once again, like those times gone.

One Nation, One Blood

We are one nation, one blood,
In times of sorrow, we calm each other,
In moments of horror, we cluddle together,
When we slip on the way, we hold each other,
When terror strikes, we defend together,
We are one nation, one blood.
We shed it for each other.

(Dedicated to my beloved Kenya in memory of Westgate attack. In times of difficult we have proved our unit and boundaryless love - God bless Kenya)

It's a Campaign Season

Singing and drinking, with little or no thinking,
Cheating and mocking, with little or no care,
Exciting and deciding, with little or no storming,
It’s a political campaign season, it will be after five, to have it again.

Bribing and buying the voters, who cares who wins?
Corrupting and misleading, the hearts of the choosers,
The job of the candidates, who cares where they loot the cash?
It’s a political campaign season, it will be after five, to have it again.

Gifting and giving, freely from the “heart,”
Who even cares, whether it’s from the heart?
Decorative and luring speeches, paint the media skies,
It’s a political campaign season, it will be after five, to have it again.

And when the voting is done, the season is gone,
The frenzy is gone, we get back to pointing fingers,
To each other’s choices, again for the next five years,
And the cycle goes on, when shall we learn?

Independence Day

Today was independence day in our country,
I dint know the exact date, I just woke up on it in the news,
Don’t call me unpatriotic, because of that.

I went to the shop, got a share of my breakfast,
I noted, the prices had doubled,
I looked at the shopkeeper, I wondered if he knew.

I dint plan for that, now I was left with one way fare,
I walked to work, during the independence day,
Somewhere celebrations were being put in place.

In the independence day, I saw a notice in my mail,
Taxes and levies had gone up, it was circulated last week,
May be it was something to celebrate about, building the government.

How did it go? I don’t know!
Any difference from yesterday? May be none, may be worse,
For the first time, I had to think of it.

I went home at dusk, my wife asked if I knew,
“She so patriotic!” I wondered,
I sighed, and said I knew, just a lie she dint know.

I dint see any difference, just slaves inherited,
But to a worse master,
Don’t call me unpatriotic for that, it’s just how I see it.

I went to sleep, just like yesterday,
I saw it in the news, colorful celebrations,
Who knows what it cost, may be a hungry soul in the North.

I checked my site, and all other sites,
Cheers all over, with many “I love my country” texts,
I wondered whether it was for that or for independence?

Happy New Year

The new year is here, the long awaited,
How you look at it, it’s in your eyes,
How you see it, it’s in your perspective,
How you face it, it’s your choice,
How you live it, it’s in your will,
How you start it, it’s in your style,
How you will end it, it’s in your future.

Like a spinner with a spindle,
Design your patterns, and create a lead,
Like a basket weaver,
Choose your shape, and lay the base,
Like a spindle in a spinner’s hands,
You dictate the patterns, and how it spins,
Like the reeds in a weaver’s hands,
You dictate the way, and how they wind,
It’s all in your hands, how you will live it,
How you will live it, it’s all in your choices.

Happy New Year!

That's Me

Ove ages I wrote,
On the floors, on the stones,
On the boards, in the books,
                   Even now i do,
With all my mind and power,
With all my heart and soul,
With all my will and strength,
                                           I write and write,
                                                  And that makes me,
                                                                I love it all
                                                                      And that's me.

Insecure

INSECURE

In the evening, there was bad news,
In the north, a grenade had been hurled,
Hurled into a millitary station,
Six confirmed dead, ten badly injured,
And the minister said,
“We shall catch them, and they shall face the law.”

At midnight, sirens broke into the air,
In the south, an estate was in flames,
The cause of the fire is not known,
Eight feared dead, property destroyed, many left homeless,
And the minister said,
“We shall investigate this case, and the law must take it course.”

In the morning, we woke up on wails,
In the east, a terrible tribal clash had broken,
Forty confirmed dead, and the number is expected to grow,
Homes destroyed, and thousands displaced,
And the minister said,
“We cannot tolerate this! They won’t go unpunished!”

At noon , the whole nation goes dark,
In the near east, a massacre is reported,
A security convoy had been ambushed,
Thirty seven reported dead, others are to be traced,
And the minister said,
“We feel the loss, we shall deploy a military operation.”

In the afternoon, comes the breaking news,
At the central ,a passenger carrier has been blown into the air,
A life bomber was one of them,
There were no survivors, and passersby injured are in hospital,
And the minister said,
“We cannot be intimidated by terrorists! We shall pursue them.”

When it’s dusk again, we get into our homes,
With cold sweat on our necks ,and with hearts in our mouths,
A screech in the night, sends the heart racing,
May be, I’m next in the line!
And as we lie sleepless, the minister says,
“The security of our nation, lies in our hands.”

IT IS OUR MOTHERLAND.

Bulding the Nation

‘BUILDING THE NATION.’
They sit every session, to negotiate their pay,
They talk of how much they need,
They complain how taxing their job is,
As they sit ‘building the nation.’

They had a strategy this time,
To increase the taxes, charges and rates,
To cover the ‘government expenditure,’
They also tripled their pay, and accompanying allowances!
And said they need it, in ‘building the nation.’

In the name of building the nation,
They made legislations,
To cut down ‘other salaries,’
And increase the indirect tax rates,
They saw it a necessary move, in ‘building the nation!’

Those Days, When a Day Was Enough

I miss my childhood days,
When I would decide without worry,
When I never had to know 'what next,'
When I never had the burden of the present,
When everything seemed equal,
Birds, animals, plants, humans, waters . .
They were all a playground.

I miss those moments,
I never knew when I was there,
I never knew they will be gone,
I do not wish a reverse,
But I wish those there presently knew this,
I wish them the best of this moments.

In those times a day was long,
I would watch the sun cripping from the east,
I would watch and watch and watch,
As it crawls lazily to the west,
In moments like centuries,
I would do almost everything in world,
Just in the moments of a day.

I would water the grasshoppers in the field,
I would chase the butterflies in the garden,
I would hunt the birds in the trees,
I would watch the ants as they walk along their hills,
I would capture the raindrops for a counts,
I would monitor the clouds as they walk in the sky,
All just in a day.

And when the golden rays paint the west,
It is time to listen to the frogs and crickets,
As they welcome the night,
With their discordant croaking music,
And just to end the day,
I would lie in the field,
And count the stars, one by one,
As they lit the sky,

And when I lie to sleep,
I would get those sweet dreams,
That I wouldn't remember when dawn,
I miss those days,
When a day was enough,
To fill the desires of my heart.
