True Worth

sitting with his legs apart
raised up by the knees
and his head slightly bent over
like a Bushman
up against a rock
with hands rolling
some or other
desert leaf,
his concentration
never wavered
from the cellular
device
he clicked
his message on

simply sweet
someone sprinkled
icing sugar
in the aircon
Sally Sweeny
managed to fool
like
the entire planet
‘if you’re not selling them
they're selling you’
her personal
motto
and who wants to get sold
down the river?
‘certainly not me’
thought
sweet Sally Sweeny

I rock I rule
I’m eminently cool
the king of…
my own delusions
definitely a legend
only in his own mind
still boasting at forty
about what he did
in his prime
there’s no telling this guy
I mean he is the proof!

she
watched
the grains
of sand
fall
as if
one
by
one
through
the hourglass
of Time
as entire lives
passed by
bl u r ry
benign
but for a few

the ones
who recognised

the worth
of what is
true

The Pig

It was a cold and muddy day
as Gertrude lay smiling.
Just the kind of weather
that she adored.
She could splash around
for hours in the glop
and guzzle up
all her shlopp
when it was time.
Oh how she loved
the sound
of the hog-call.
It would signal
that special time
of day for her
when she could literally
pig-out!
Her delicate pink skin
did not tan too well,
always needing
a good coating of oils,
hence the perfection
in the weather described.
Her trotters,
she thought,
were possibly
her best feature –
could they
be called dainty?
Unlike her large snout
that she sometimes wished
could have been
more discreet-looking.
She valued her large ears
because they were
indeed an asset,
especially close
to supper time
and her eyes,
well, they were
the eyes of
an intelligent creature,
somewhat underestimated
by Man,
simply because
of the sweet tasting
tantalising suppleness
of the flesh
of the animal.
What to do
thought Gertrude,
but eat,
eat, eat,
eat, eat,
while you still
could eat,
at least.
Because one day –
every pig knew
as all pigs know –
we would all see
the blade descend
on us
and
then
splat!

The Gate of Love

I’m wandering through foreign sands
To find what I am looking for
I’m looking for a promised land
To uncover territories unknown

The search goes far and yet I’ll say
I’ve never felt another way
I’ve never known
That love could be like hate

Please why can’t I enter through the gate?
I look into the light that leads
And yet I try to be the same
Yet still I cannot enter through the gate

So Be It

The walls are crumbling piece by piece
But I don't hear a sound
My eyes are steady, gaze is set
Although the chaos hounds
Its good to be within your grace
Your peace, your light around
Soon a lost one will be no more
I am ready to be found...

Farewell

It has been a long road travelled
and yet the journey has just begun
I would have had more laughs, less tears
and danced till morning comes
but whatever happens, happens
just know I tried my best
a fool I am not prepared to be
it's not my chosen quest
I will always love you
with every breath I take
let's hope its all a senseless dream
when tomorrow we awake...
