Austin Tenthani Phiri Poem
On this day, I want to say
Words that forever will stay
In your heart as well as mine
Words silky, smooth, tender and sweet as wine
You were a flower on a tower
Plucked and firmly planted in my heart
Protected from life’s harsh weather
Lady, you are a treasure....
The source of joy beyond measure
Your rare beauty, my medicine
Your sweet smile, my cure
Your gentle laughter, assures
Your firm love has made me sure
With you l am secure.....
Rip not my heart for it is yours
Yours I will not for it is mine
Together we 've been woven
Tangled....with love’s silk and twine
No one in between, can draw a line
Your hurts are mine as well
As are your pains and gains
Sorrows and joys
Come along with me
To our own paradise
Away from love’s parasites
Those liars, cheats and thieves
Who rob others
Of love’s joy and bliss
YOU ARE MY VALENTINE.....

Austin Tenthani Phiri Poem
A city where
Sky scrapers are rare
As is the city
So are its buildings, compact!
Scraped by the sky they seem
Yet intact is their splendor and grandeur
Modernity fused with the classic ancient
Decorates its highways and streets
Spell bound and enchanted
By its beauty I was to be
If it were not for the voice of duty
That called me back home
FAREWELL!!

Austin Tenthani Phiri Poem
Down he sojourned
On life's journey
Encounters upon encounters
Mistakes he made
Even offences...
To the people he met
"Apologize" ...he was told by some....
This he did
To erase his misdeeds
"Am I forgiven", he wondered
For others could not yield
To the gesture, so human
"Go get some counselling"
They advised...
Insinuating insanity
To such he said
"Apologize as well"

Austin Tenthani Phiri Poem
Perched on the shore of Lake Victoria
Is Speke....
Of its beauty I will speak
In any place I shall be
Granite stones chopped into bricks
Layered one upon another....glued by cement
"Monomutapalian architecture perfected" on the shore of Lake Victoria...
Of its hospitality I will tell
To all l shall meet
"Welcome" to me they said..."feel free"
This is your room...they guided
Some faults I saw
That prompted me to enquire...
"Do not worry"...they reassured..."this is Speke"
Warmly they pronounced..."You are our honorable guest"...
"We upgrade you to an Executive Suite"
"Do I have to add another cent?"...I wondered
"Nay" they said to my disbelief
"Come this way...this is where you will stay...
'til the closure of the errand that flew you here!"

Austin Tenthani Phiri Poem
There in a land foreign
Folks did not give us forks
Instead they said...
"chop the food with sticks"
The sticks stuck to my hands...
l could not eat
From across the table a voice said ...
"well then, use your hands instead"

Austin Tenthani Phiri Poem
INSPIRED BY THE PROPHETIC DECLARATION BY TB JOSHUA..".2014 has been declared as a year of crossing the bridge to Destiny"
Prevailed in the year past we have...by the reason of faith in Calvary's Cross,
To a year anew, we have crossed
Fiery fights were fought some we lost some we won...but no loss
Enemies in pajamas of friends undressed..disgraced...
Our pain again now is gain
Wounds healed, the scars marks of valour and favour
Lessons profound we found, amidst tyranny
These to us are new battle armoury
For savoring sweet victories in this new year
Of it has been said by a mighty Seer sent from above
It is a year of crossing the bridge towards destiny
For us to cross, lets walk in the way of Calvary's Cross
Those that abandon the way it will be to their peril and loss
For me l pray, trust and obey the Seer's call for it is a heavenly echo
Spurring us to tread with care, on the bridge ferrying us to our destiny
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Austin Tenthani Phiri Poem
Here is a tale
This tale, many will live to tell
Of the pains conceived by betrayal
If some will fail to tell this tale
Posterity will be their judge
Passing a sure sentence
On how they failed in their duty
Of telling the tale to a generation yet to be born
The tale is of betrayal
Conveyed on the auras of confessed friendship
Received by the deceived
On a plate of mayopic trust
Galvanized by selfish interests
The medium of this betrayal were words
That dripped from smooth yet subtle lips
Those naive in the matters of life
Pondered and wondered in amazement....
”how could they get caught in this circle so vicious!”
“Tell us more about this tale” some pressed
“Its aleady told” was the answer
“No...no...no...!” they protested
I answered...”Betrayal and its pain is the tale”

Austin Tenthani Phiri Poem
ROYALTY: VELENTINO PHIRI our Grandfather
From a place of refuge he trekked
to the peripheral of the throne
rightfully his
"Moses on the verge of Canaan..."
Endowed with a rare talent
potent of perfecting the art
that built pyramids in days ancient
A mighty man...
Though not enthroned
A KING he was...ruler of our people...
True as it was
He still is....ROYALTY!

Austin Tenthani Phiri Poem
Fig tree fruit...fig tree fruit...fig tree fruit
Eaten by toddlers...fig tree fruit!
Gave elders stomach ulcers
Be careful for this is a fishing bridge
Elders warned...
Play not here lest you tumble into the river and drawn
Adamant!....the fig tree fruit
Birds do not play on a sticky trap
They emphasized
Rebellion!....the fig tree fruit
That is sweet and also this!
“Made a jumpy greedy cat fall on its back”
Wisdom of ages not heeded....fig tree fruit!
That one is better than this one...
She said...infidelity!
Where is he now....tears!
“Snuffing tobacco is the one already in your nose”
A sound adage...”for the one on your finger belongs to the wind”
Regret!
A husband is worth your respect...treasure him
“Spite not a male grasshopper”...never forget...
Wealth is not love...love it not!...good advice
“A foolish woman tares down her home with her own hands”
Says the WORD!...a fig tree fruit
Guard your ears
For hearsay destroys the home
Watch your words
They are seed...in due time you will reap!
Tears you will shade...to your knees regrets you shall whisper....
No comforter
Naivety is what you are doing...warning!
Halt before you are haunted
Where you are staying keep your eyes open
For trouble is bred by those close to you....
In your sojourn...remember...
Jealousy, envy and malice abounds
Plotters and schemers are always around
To some places...revert not
For foes there your life can snare
The fig tree fruit!

Austin Tenthani Phiri Poem
A POEM
DIVINE
You are an eagle
That dwells on a mountain
Us the eagles on the mountain
Are calling you back to your fountain
Hear the echoes of our voices
Come back...!
Remember always that a chicken pen is not your abode
When you fly back here, you will be near
We shall teach you never to fear
When you weep we shall wipe your tears
You we shall train, even to gain from your pain
Us on the mountain
In our hearts we hold you dearly
Chickens will not force us to abandon you...
For you are an eagle that dwells on a mountain!
