The Three Categories of People

THE THREE CATEGORIES OF PEOPLE

At the zenith great men stood unopposed
Exonerated people of great wisdom and wealth
The earth is their point of arrival and departure
Terminus ad quo and terminus ad quem
Always excelling at the slightest opportunity
Success! Their pinnacle of glory
They make things happen”.

In the middle mediocres squat opposed
Thou they find themselves comfortable where they are
Making no effort to move forward
Always ready to serve the lords of the pinnacle
Yet they feel like waking up at the peak
Imagining the world to be a place of existence
They try to make things happen but lack the will”.

Down are struggling large multitudes of people
Who blame the world for what they are
They are mask men to themselves
Value can never be attached to their life
Surely existing not living in a world of theirs
Inferiority personified, pathetic without vision
Looking and not seeing, hearing and not listening
Ready to embrace whatever comes their way
Pessimistic persons with great dreams they can’t realize.
They watch things happen”.

WHERE DO YOU BELONG?

Goodbye Is the Saddest Word

GOODBYE IS THE SADDEST WORD

Am missing you though you are by my side
You are here but not here as I can’t feel your presence
I told myself you were right for me but I feel lonely in your company
I see your face disappearing from the reach of my sight
Hope you are not leaving; your goodbye will be the worst of farewell.

Mercy does not begin where love come to an end
Heard mercy prolongs love and makes it even more beautiful
It was happy beginning about turning to a saddy end
Look harder baby and see that different part of me
Don’t give me that look; it will break my heart if you say goodbye.

So weighed down not only by uncertainties but also by obsession
I made my entire dream yours & you looked at me and made it shatter
It is so hard to realize that what we have, we don’t have anymore
Am the soldier of your heart; am so ready to go to war for your heart
Hope not loose you to my enemies; hope am not hearing goodbye?

Don’t try walking away from my side baby
If I loose you now, everything will be gone may be
The thought of you leaving me has left me creeping in fear
I don’t want to wake up in the morning and not see you my dear
If you ever leave me at night; it will be the worst of all badbyes.

Now; if you like leave am no longer scared
It will be hard but whatever happens am prepared
I no longer care if we stay forever or remain forever apart
To someone else special; I will find and give my special heart
Oh! She said goodbye; it was the happiest of all goodbyes.

The Unwanted Visitor

THE UNWANTED VISITOR

He is slow and fast and always comes so sudden
If he pays you a visit, he will be an inevitable burden
He visits everybody he wants to, there is never exclusion
There is no age-bound; the old, young and the unborn are an inclusion
Everybody knows this visitor and why he visits and never wishes he visits
Death; the punctual visitor that leaves his host and hostess late when he visits.

If this visitor visits you, how will you welcome him?
He comes always to take not to give, what will you give him?
He is the time-keeper that doesn’t state the time and season he visits
If you happen to be the unlucky host, what time will you wish he visits?
The august visitor that visits every month unannounced to his timed hosts
Death; the wicked visitor that causes sorrow to all who relates to his timed hosts.

He does not just make things seem bad, he makes it worse
He is always the necessity that leaves every choice a curse
There may be but haven’t seen anyone who wants him around
In a twinkle of an eye, he can make a noisy hall absence of sound
For every suicide; seconds to go, anybody on suicide will wish to be alive
Death; the unwanted inconsiderate visitor that never leaves his hosts alive.

The Ruins of Lfe

THE RUINS OF LIFE

I sat silently listening to silence
Reflecting on how good life could have been but it isn’t
Reminiscing on how good it was before it all happened; life ceased to be fair
Realising how bad it is now and how worse it is getting
Thinking on how possible it is that life could still be restored to normalcy
Planning on how to prevent it from worsening towards the worst road
In all and all after the deep thoughts; I only see the ruins of life staring at me.

Woke up from sleep and felt like I dreamt of the end of the earth
Everything seemed so real; I have some bruises still in me
Looking so confused as I just realized that I have woken up in a new place
A better view in the mirror revealed more of me than I remember
I became so frightened that I so shouted and something happened
The echoes of my voice shouted back at me louder
Just then, I realized; I am the only one left in this ruin.

I thought there was hope until I saw hope running for his life safety
Then all became hopeless; the world is ruined and the ruin is the world
What is left of the ruin can’t be grasped; there seems to be no recovery
Women are faithly praying; men are fately striving hard
A quest of bringing life to order; a wish of normality
The hope of saving life from death and life from itself
The ruin destroyed life; all left now is the destruction of life...

My Africa

MY AFRICA

My Africa; oh my beautiful Africa
Words of your past glories gladdens my heart
History embeds in her heart; stories of you Africa
Ages through ages; you gave birth to men of brave hearts
Expectation didn’t expect much from you Africa
Yet, you tried your best to live up to expectations
Your 18th to 20th century ancestors suffered invasion of your lands
Helpless and ignorant; they suffered a lot from the invaders of your land
With eyes that can only watch; they watched your cultures drift away
Today, with my heart that can also love; my love for you Africa will never drift away.

I thank you God for having created me black
The blacks are Africans; Africa is black
It feels very natural to be a natural African; an Africa African
Beyond the deserts, out of the forests and above the mountains of Africa
There will never be a need for me to introduce myself as an African
Everywhere I go, anybody that sees me sees Africa
I am proud of our lands; the brave son of the soil
Some fools don’t take pride in our land; the name Africa they soil
Home and abroad; we all share the same ancestral lineage of the 3rd century Africans
Today, Africa is for all and not just for Africans.

Oh my lovely Africa!
I need not open my eyes to see the splendour of your beauty
The caress of your sun warms my black skin
I only need to look up and see the clearness of your skies
I cannot swim to swim enough of your charming waters
The birds sing in glory of your proud high mountains
Your land is so rich in minerals and natural resources
Not even natural disasters can cause disasters to us
The earthquakes and tsunamis are still myths to your people
I take pride in you my Africa.

The Church

THE CHURCH

History always does repeats itself in an unexpected manner
This dates far back to the Israelites in the wilderness God fed with manna
After six hundred years since we heard a pope resigned
This year brings back the history; The Pope unexpectedly resigned
Whatever may be the reason, everybody has personal divergent opinions
Last time we checked, he was the head of Catholic faithful numbering 1.3 billion.

Even if all should pass away with the doctrine of the church gone
Christianity will always forever remain the hand-work of our God
Different things are bound to always happen that many do not expect
God will forsake his church, that’s one thing many ought not to expect
The key to heaven given to peter does not have a duplicate unlike normal key
In times of tribulation and confusion one thing is for sure; Jesus is the only key.

There is freedom of religion as embedded in the constitution
What happens when the church becomes a center of prostitution?
Too many countless churches; may be what Jesus Had was last lunch
No matter what the constitution constitutes; in the beginning there was one church
What happened to the one church? Nobody cares to ask that rhetorical question
All said and done; do we serve the same God? That’s all to this rhetorical question.

Dream Not For Sale

…DREAM NOT FOR SALE…

Prior to the naked realization
I saw it, heard it, felt it, touched it…
I said to myself that I have made it
Yes! It was more than an actualization
It was all a self-made convinced realization
So perfect was everything, not at all fiction
This dream is not for sale
I swear not to loose it.

What a perfect potential life in motion!
So narrow it all seems, got to pick the better option
Time to live my entire life free from all disturbing emotions
Everything needed for everything is ready, sure to make it through
This self-amazing revealed prophecy seems all nothing less but true
Every critic, sadist… in my life, I made ahead plans to make them a throw
How possible is it for me to sell this dream?
Its sworn, not even a bit of it will be lost.

Poisoned

POISONED

Awww is all I feel
If only I could gaze at this everyday
I would become obssessed with you
Could it be you were talking about me?
Hope I didn't read about someone else?
Bcos now, I fantasize about certain things
Things am yet to believe I was imagining
What kind of scourging words are these?

I'm afraid that I might not sleep tonight
I would be staring at your naked face all through the night
What amazing smile I would see
Would I ever stop hearing that crazy laugh of yours?
What kind of dream would I be dreaming wide awake?
Tonight; I would be thinking about you.

You
Why you?
Why now?
You seriously want to poison me with your love
If I ever survive from this poison
Is it even possible to survive it?
You are really killing me
Since am dying slowly and happy
This would be a lovely death
Thank you!

Ocean of Tears

OCEAN OF TEARS

Things were good just yesterday
Till death took you away today
Now, we are feeling like we lost everything
Oh yes, we lost everything when we lost you
If only our eyes could pour out all the tears our heart holds
Your casket will be over floating on them
These tears hold no salt; our heart is laden with bitterness
We still wonder if the stars still shine out for us
When we look up; the very star we look up to has faded
Can you wake now? We are drunk in sorrow.

Worst things in life come free to us
Death sold us what we didn’t order to buy
It delivered itself to us when we didn’t give out any address
What kind of offline shopping is this?
If only we can return this ugly unwanted purchase
We may forever be stuck in this daydream
What a black Saturday; it was supposed to be a happy day for all of us
45th convocation ceremony! So many invites; yet, you didn’t turn up
It’s not alright to die; though, it’s the only thing you never tried
Prof. If only you waited billion days; trillion tears could have been saved.

Who? Where? When? Why? ...
Unending questions; heart-breaking answers
If we were to write about your death in an answer script
We will submit empty script because we don’t know what to write
How can we write what doesn’t have course outline?
Many will demand for extra script; to use and clean up their tears
Prof. you have left a big vacuum in our heart and in our department
Who will tend to your courses and your supervisees now that you are gone?
If these are my last words about you; I didn’t say them only in bitterness
You scholarly legacies are enough to restore us to default hope.
Requiscant in pace Proffesor Ken. Ifesinachi…

To My Dearest Brother

TO MY DEAREST BROTHER

On the quest to look for peace in a peaceful land
We embarked on a journey of no return
Looking for light to lighten our darkness
Tomorrow is way too far away; we left yesterday
The sea of our destiny is a busy road
We alone sail alone to our future; the destination
Strong winds of trials and pirates of adversity not minding their business
Always trying to be the obstacles in reaching our destination.

So many experiences out there to experience in this journey
What is adversity and trials that we cannot stand them?
So assured and bound to reach our destination as prophesied
God owns our ship; he can’t allow his captains fall prey to sea predators
Let’s believe in him and believe in ourselves strongly
Never you forget that I’m your co-captain as we will always co-operate
Will always be there with you to ensure that our ship doesn’t sink
will be too strong for them; not even the storm nor tsunami of life can stop us
