Oyedokun Adejonwo Poem
We are travellers on this terrestial plane
where acorns are consumed in tinder season
oaks fell by angry hurricane
robust iroko mowed by lumbers greedy saw
haughty araba viciously murdered for standing
on progress impatient path
omo succulent spine constantly curry
carver's merciless scythe
okere's throaty tunes ricochets in the hunters pot
flaccid bellies beat rumbling rhytm
like agba drum on festival day
but turgid tummies growl like hungry hounds
bamboos nubile wist receive romantic thrust of
amorous wind
while obeche lay immobile on agbegilodos sturdy spine
Uncle Tunji and Demola, siamized brethens, your drum
slit in mid-throb,when feets gathered for cerebral dance of
consummation, the beat stilled by scarlet thread of filial tyranny
on muted noon, your blood, a libation on their carvenous
conscience, you raced to eternity, chasing hopes elusive light
on our treacherous terrain, your tender spine succumbed
sheepishly to their thirsty canine........................................
Musa,mauled in march after
the rigours of planting when harvest scent
fill the senses with delirious pleasure and
crunchy taste of sweat intoxicate the
mind, you were consumed in the hurricane of hatred
ignited by your passionate quest the for the light in this
mythic maze, your magnetic mien attracted envious arrows
another scalp in their wicked pouch.............................................
Dayo,a rippening fruit that attract envious
glance from salivating labial
dangling on the crest of lolling waves
plunged into
ancient gullet of seductive lips....................
Never again the tender hand that coerce comfort
into troubled spine, nor warmth to fan assurances
of reality into doubting souls,no more soft words from
your unending brook of care,
no more the listening lobe sifting through our ton of worries
no canopy to shade our earth from the scorge of merciless
sun............................................................................................................................

Oyedokun Adejonwo Poem
Aranmo laso Iseyin ni ohunso
Aso ti aro olowo faramo olowo
Iseyin
of harried hills and skyscaping rocks
of humming hurricane and haughty harmattan
of succulent virgins and tasty lasses
of fearless fighters and valiant warriors
whose pock-marked faces tell tales of
changing seasons and fading ethos
Iseyin oro
your looms weave history of a thousand wars
and countless strifes:
a kaleidoscope of sweat and blood
of bellowing ewiri and clanging steel
that power rippling biceps on virgin plots
and drape distant hills with a curtain of lush green
of rippening grain and swollen roots
that taunt and fatten western mind
Iseyin ebedi moko
where conscripted corps rouse sleepy road
mouthing patriotic choruses with con-fidence
under the shun or in the st-rain
of howling bigles and snarling commandants
between rationed meals and bedless sheets
educated urchins recarve stunted dreams and
swap affections under the blessing of a passionate moon;
culred in a fraternity of lust
Iseyin
at sunset
a million pestles beat doughy rhythm to
the drum of seasonless soup and
fumes of fermented wine
At night
shakabula cast eerie silhouette of
compromising customs and daring smugglers
every hut,a garage
every house ,a warehouse
every trail,an artery for the systemic draining of
a giang dwarf
Iseyin oh Iseyin
so benign your sonorous throat spurn
loric tales of crushing contradictions and
mesmerising oddities

Oyedokun Adejonwo Poem
She stood languidly under neon light
Scant -clad bossom shine in erotic glory
Her tresses dance flippantly like reeds of the niger
Rag and ropes hung carelessly-gorgeously on curvy cliffs
Her recklessly red lip
Draw lustymen from the possessive warmth of their wary wives
As tiro-ed lashes coquetishly
Lead them to sheol.

Oyedokun Adejonwo Poem
Where does love go
after the thrill of hunting
through jumbles of resentment and
thickets of fear
After whispered promises under
musical moons during nocturnal pilgrimages
nurturing teeny dreams
Where does love go
After the rites of 'I DO'
and ostentatious feasting of
friend and foes
Where does love go
After the ectstacy of dewy nights
feverish morn and nauseous noon
Where does love go
when sorrow wrench the heart and
trouble shred the soul
when tears pour like libation
when crises cripple faith
and raging hormone tear apart a peaceful lair
when couples brag and braww
brawl and brag
and frightened kids become helpless umpires in
domestic squabbles
when chop money dig galling holes, in
penuried pockets
and million hands grab few wads
when harried hearts beat discordant tunes and
suspicion sprout on famished ground
when words are hurled like rockets
and laughter clang like cymbals
when hate filled eyes gush with blood
and judges gavel inter once bouyant dreams
Where does love go?

Oyedokun Adejonwo Poem
Langbe jinna
When liquid crystals fall in spontaneous spatter
And earth release scintillating scent
To the face of a haughty sky
Langbe jinnaq
When watery diadems drop ceaselessly
And bonny limbs sprout in smart salute
jostlling for the affection of a resplendent sun
Langbe jinna
when heavenly dew cascade in musical torrent
mustards ressurrect in the ulceric womb
of a famished earth
Langbe jinna
When scorching sun mother roaring rain
And mayflower beget milky maize
coycobs peep under chiffoned robes
Langbe jinna
When loquacious cob invite salivating lips
for a kiss of death and life
buried in sizzling pots oir coutoured in a thousand robe
with hungry mouths munching in unison
Langbe jinna
When mouthed organ play jaw-ful rhythm oblivious
of draconian decrees
And moans from stripped neighbourhood
when blocked arteries gushed with uncontrollable anger
Langbe jinna
When toothy hard-mini-traitors marched through conquered
cities
sounding furious drums and promising choruses to
frustrated fellows
Langbe jinna
Even if NPK disappear in transit
And distraught farmers mourn inclement policies
fermented in fashionable conferences
The beat goes on
whether from the hiss of tortured wood
or the ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta of convulsing coal
Langbe jinna

Oyedokun Adejonwo Poem
My heart erupts like a volcano
bursting with scathing songs,for
the lobes of tyranny,fattened
by the deceptive lyrics,from
sycophantic lips
My tongue,a molten kalam,shall
consume the valve of fear,preaching
caution to frustrated souls,now
my music must rise ,from
the din of ancient sighs,remixed
in the swelter of pain and anguish, rehashed
in the gurgling sound,of
blighted bellies
My anvil honed labial,shall
spin arrows to pierce,their
stubborn ossiccles and
invade the cosmos of haughty drunkeness
My strident cry shall spin a noose, for
the drooling neck of despotism,hawking
chaos on our conflagrating land,where
swamp dwellers bath with spittle,and
princes pawn peasant's heritance
My touching tune shall rouse,fascist
minds to the scent ,of
our brewing anger,and
restless impatience
I shall continue to sing until, this
gathering storm harvest hearts,and
stir furious fists,to deal
deathly blow to the cenotaph of tyranny.

Oyedokun Adejonwo Poem
Not
the dripping words from rotund cheeks
Or
the mesmerized audience in fashionable conferences
Not
the frantic letters pawned from sacred pages
Nor
the cowering force of conviction in hallowed institutes
Neither
the skewed statistics manufactured on swivelling chairs
Abi
omniscient,omnipresent hard-mini-traitors know me
Rather,
I am the brackish fluid in hunger gorged sockets
the menacing cloud in the orphans eyes
the rumblimg rage in growling bellies
the taut thread on diseased diaphragms
the bloodless taste of conquered cities
the shriek from stripped streets
the chaos from breadless tables and passionless beds
and the repugnant smell of decaying dreams
I AM POVERTY!

Oyedokun Adejonwo Poem
The cock sounds its trumpet
inviting azuri maids to a duet
darkness slips away,
stealthily-silently
provoking the anger
of a sleepless sun.

Oyedokun Adejonwo Poem
Each dawn mother dusk
Every dusk murder dawn
In between
the world grope
shuffling and tapping
Perpetually inside maddening maze
Flashes flit through opaque cracks;
Load of laughter,tons of smile
Bale of affection,bundles of joy
Washed away in torrents of tears
Loneliness lurk behind soft lashes
And scribbled on salt soaked pillow
MELANCHOLY,writ in red!

Oyedokun Adejonwo Poem
I wheel to my corner
ostracised by your ebbing warmth
unyielding to my probing hand
in the eeriness of NEP's darkdom
Memories tumble down my quavering spine
images splahed on your rigid back
of moisture ladden dawn and thrilling nights
under the watery spell of your moan-istrations
Now,I watch the defiant contours of
your sensuous body
miles across the counterpane
protesting the pains of penuried existence
