Lonnie Freeman Poem
I heard the click and the window did open
Into the garden of full lettered words.
All were filled with various emotions
Causing the strings of my heart to be stirred
Drawn, I crawled into the garden
Into a maze that picked at my soul
Further and further without pardon
I sunk deep into a bottomless hole
Thousands of words filled with wonder
Filled with terror and pity and need
with every letter they tore me asunder
Choking my heart, filling me with weeds
But slowly a trickle of laughter I heard
drifting like tiny life lines from above
Lifting my spirit on the wings of a bird
Home through the window with words of love

Lonnie Freeman Poem
TOO LATE
By Lonnie L Freeman
Did you my friend know, long before the easterly glow
Of my sleepless plight on this ungodly night
Did you my friend, ever even slightly, understand
That the friendship we once had is what drove me mad
More than Friends, I felt, as my heart away did melt
Until that last day when the sun did melt away
Into the deep blue sea, taking you away from me
I think you never knew of my eternal love for you
You're my friend you know, as the sun sets the east aglow
To shine without a sound upon your cross in the ground

Lonnie Freeman Poem
the time has come to express my words
and I ponder from where they should come
for many a day I have thought with my mind
while I consumed many bottles of rum
but my mind became befuddled and confused
so slowly I started to feel from the heart
finding words never spoken or used
by the grave I sit not knowing where to start
I have loved far to shallow
and shared far to little
to have you understand
but I sit by the grave
not knowing the way
to express the feelings I have
Is it my time to go?
or have you gone before me?
this I must know
for on the stone at the head of the grave
i find your name and mine
by the grave i sit without any wit
to share the love that I find.
forgive what I've done I am coming home
the angels are waiting for me.
but by the grave I sit
expressing bit by bit
the love I have found to be.

Lonnie Freeman Poem
At the end of the road
Where the darkness lies
There is but a choice
That will arise
It will come to us all
At the end of the road
What call will we hear
As we dump our load
There in the darkness
Which all around lies
Will we hide forever
With tears in our eyes
But there also shines
An alternate choice
A speck of light
A soothing voice
At the end of the road
A choice will arise
To hide in the darkness
Or follow the light in your eyes
