The Darkness

If only it were so simple,
to cruise through life smelling roses;
but the obstacles blacken the countryside,
and we unwittingly crush them beneath our boots.

Dreams sustain us through the madness;
goals give a finish line to our race.
Yet they change with every turn, around every wall,
and remain elusive throughout the quest.

Mistakes are made, and regrets are our luggage;
we will drag them with us to slow us down.
The victories are flashes of light, sudden and unlasting, which allow us
to glimpse the road ahead before darkness descends.

Love is bitter, yet it is the bread that keeps us.
Over and over it fills us up, only to starve us.
The people whom we love shape our destinies and our strengths,
yet leave us cold and alone in the darkness.

There are others trying to race to the end;
occasionally, we bump into one or two.
The bonds we form help us down the path less lonely
but eventually, we lose each other in the darkness.

Alone is not a bad way to be;
it clears your head and focuses you on the journey.
Cherish the short intervals during the quest you have with others,
but be prepared to walk alone in the darkness.

A Daisy's Petals

As I was walking down a dirt road.
I picked a daisy along the way.
I thought of my true love,
And where he was today.
I look at the daisy’s petals.
They were each white as snow,
I thought that I should pull them
To see if he still loved me so.
He loves me, he loves not,
Went running through my mind.
Should I pull the petals away,
To see what I would find.
My love had gone away,
Many, many days ago.
For whatever the petals would say
I knew he had loved me so.
I did not need this flower,
To tell me what I already knew.
That he had loved me so,
With a love so rare and true.
I looked at the daisy once more,
With thoughts of my Love and what we shared.
Then I continued down the dirt road,
With the daisy in my hair

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

L,O,V,E

L, is for the Laughter I give to you every day
knowing you'll never go away

O, is for the Options we'll have when were together
knowing our love couldn't get any better

V, is for the Visions I have of you
knowing I'll never find anyone quite like you

E, is for Everything that's true I've ever said
especially when I said "we'll be together till were dead"

Through the Year

you helped me laugh
you dried my tears
because of you,i have no fears
together we live
together we grow
teaching each other what we must know
you came in my life and i was blessed
i love you friend
you are the best
release my hand and say goodbye
please my friend,please dont cry
i promise its not the end
cause like i said
your my friend.

Replacement

have replaced my pen
with a keyboard
my dell
with a mac
my heart
for a hole
my life
for a stagnant death
my choices
for a thing called fate
A season of change
and I am still the same
with the same issues
running in place on a treadmill
works on the physical
but not on the mental
my presence may be forsaken
but my poems can't be taken
the keyboard acts like
tiny little “easy buttons”
that act like
control rods
in a nuclear reactor
holding in every
****ing emotion
before I explode
I replace my emotions
with silence
because I simply
can longer release
the odor of that stagnant death
that surrounds my being
that gets held back
like a kid repeating the 4th grade
who never seems to learn
that if you put 2 & 2 together
you better get the same answer
although I often do
addition by subtraction
with my heart
whether it is a letter
or a phone call
saying that I am not good enough
my will is stronger
than any disappointment
than any rejection
because I will replace failure
with success
I will not be known as a have not
or a never will be
i will replace that death with life
that fate to choice
and my holed heart
with a whole heart

Fear To Write

Fear in my heart
not sure where to start
or where to end
i cannot pretend
that life is also
puppies and rainbows
but I can hope for something better
I recognize my privilege
because my life is not that bad
although better than yours
at least I can look
in the mirror everyday
and know who I am
and know how I am dealing with
there is no sugar coating
the truth
that all people suck
some just better than others
and while I may have had
a few too many
I know that I am thinking
quite clearly
you just choose not to hear me
my emotions rule me
and make me a better person
because I am in touch
with all the things that
any person should
but rather hide
according to the guide
all men are stupid
and I am more of the
sum of the whole
or the hole of the some
I just rather just freeze
my veins
and become like the rest
go from hole to hole
like a game on the green
but i know myself
I am not that mean
so that just leaves me
back a square one
with thoughts that are clear
and a heart full of fear

From My Heart

A million stars up in the sky
one shines brighter I cant deny
A love so precious a love so true
a love that comes from me to you
The angels sing when you are near
within your arms I have nothing to fear
You always know just what to say
just talking to you makes my day
I love you baby with all of my heart
together forever and never to part.

There Is No Name For This

Harsh words whispered,
Never meant to reach her ears.
They stare at her with disgust,
Just because she's different.

But they are just spectators,
Looking in on his troubled life.
Figuring he's just fine,
They watch from behind glass.

Never feeling her true emotions,
Never hearing her painful cries.
They laugh as she falls, down life's stone stairs.
she's at the bottom now.

Barley living she just takes it,
Each day another war.
When will her pain stop?
Or will it drive her to her death?

Depression's her best friend,
It holds her hand as she falls.
she's trapped within a spiral of pain.
Bleeding to escape reality.

To let death take her soul,
Far away from this world she hates.
To end it is her decision, suicide her fate,
And never again will i feel anything.

How

How does one gain strength
when deep down there is defeat
knowing that at times
you may fight a losing battle
where the odds are a million to one
how do you beat a formidable foe?
one that is ever changing & ever shifting
cannot stay in one place
cannot stay still
cannot give you a chance
to gain a grip on reality
the ever moving foe fights dirty
goes for the kill every chance it gets
you can block and deflect every blow
but sooner or later the knock out
punch will land and defeat will be imminent
How does one fight back?
