A Breath of Fresh

Suddenly I’ve walked out, into the air…
All bluely about, what am I supposed to do?
Dance! Dance!
Under the willow tree.
Blue air, fresh air, come in….
I welcome your necessity.
Around me.
In me. Through me.
Out.
Invisibly intimate.
Between all and all between, hold me tightly with your weaving winds.
I never knew I lost you, until I found you.
Your thankless endeavors…..existence.
Such is your glory.

My Daughter Says

as a mother, with a tenure of 44 months....this speaks through my fingers in the voice of my daughter.....let your eyes hear in the voice of yours.

"Mine eyes are green, like yours"

"I lub you toooo"

"I wanna wear that one, like yours"

"Putting on my shoes, like you does"

"Paint you nails? I wanna do it"

"Let me help you"

"can i go wit you?"

"You are my best friend, momma"

"a.b.c.b.’s"

"dance with me"

"Play with me, run with me"

"Walk the pass, this way like i do"

"You so bue full"

"I like’a da’lake"

"These shoes is really fast! see, like that"

"You said i could, yesterday - you did"

Winds

The winds are blowing strong!
Can you hear what they whisper?
Can you smell their intentions?
…I can’t either….but….I’m no longer afraid
of what they bring that I cannot see
of what I want but might not be
I am no longer.
So, blow on!
Winds.....
Change what you may.
I won’t stop dancing during the storm…
I won’t lose the sun, again…
And if you find the moon, on the other side,
kiss him for me.

My Heart

I used to think that I was strong.
I realize now that I was wrong.

'Cause every time you walk away,
a piece of me,
goes.

I closed my eyes the moment I surrendered to you.
Let love be blind,
innocent, and tenderly
true.

Lead me not to beguiled fate.

I'll protect your uncertainty,
appreciate your worth.

Invariably.

In the mornings when you go.
Wake me gently so I'll know,
that loving you was not a dream..

Mom

Her tiny hand in mine.
So precious, so innocent, so true.
Sacrifices I make – by choice or force….but ultimately for her sake.
Sometimes I cry, sometimes I laugh.
Loneliness, exclusions – mine to embrace.
To face, to accept.
With patience – I’ll learn to fly.
Again.
Break free of broken promises.
Take off the too big shoes.
Smile at adversity – win.
If only, in the end, to lose.

Sparkle

Take off the sparkle and what is left…?
Can you see it?
Will you recognize it,
for what it is…
Easier to see the stains, to feel the cracks and
to smell the fear.

Take off the sparkle
can you still love what is left?

Take off the sparkle.
And take a good look.
See what is there, not –
not what you want…
See,
what is there.

Take off the sparkle
and the rest of the world
shines.
And comes back to life.
Shines on you
and me.
