A Fair Game of Chess

Mischievous Puck,
your flower has once again struck
where it should not.
Beguiling the eyes and the minds to love those
that they should not.

Oh! Wicked Robin,
how dare you convolute something
so precious into a farce.
Making my love into your game
with players to take me down.

My dear Goodfellow,
i shall not play this game of yours, for my heart is at stake.
But with this rook coming for the queen,
the king evading, and the fair knight distracted from his duty...
what choice do I have?

Little Fairy-
i shall break your rook if you continue to advance it!
My white knight shall ride to me eventually
-and if my knight is lost-
then for certain i shall capture the king.

Silly fae-
if my knight is not lost then he shall become king
for it is this queen's decision and not yours
as to what moves i make inside the court of play.
Did I mention?

Checkmate

Catch Me

I'm falling, falling
waiting for someone
to come and catch me
and take me from
this place
i'm floating, floating
static in the air
still waiting
for someone to
take my breath away,
to sweep me off my feet,
to love me for me.

That Dog

-Dedicated to Abby (written in 3rd grade, okay.)

there was a dog
she was my friend
she wasn't "just a mutt"
she always came when you called her name
and she always looked left and right
before she crossed the street at night
i loved her so much
but now she's gone
that dog was special
that dog was sweet
she wasn't a "mutt"
she wasn't a "full-breed"
she was my friend
she's still in my heart
she's still in my mind
she's sitting, listening all the time
always with me
always there
not always licking my hair,
but there.

Falling

i'm falling, falling
head over heels for you,
but i'm invisible,
so what can i do-
to get you to notice me?

chorus: do you want me to jump,
from an aeroplane?
do you want me to climb,
the Himalayas?
do you want me to fall,
fall to my knees and cry?
'cause i'm already fallin'
already fallin'
and i feel fine...

you look at me and i melt into the sea of your eyes,
my breath taken away...
i can't talk and you don't get it
i'm shy around you and you don't get it
i twirl my hair and you don't get it,
how will you get it?

Chorus: do you want me to jump,
from an aeroplane?
do you want me to climb,
the Himalayas?
do you want me to fall,
fall to my knees and cry?
'cause i'm already fallin'
already fallin'
and i feel fine...

I wear cute outfits
to catch your eye
but i still see it passing by
in the hall or in the class
what do i have to do?

chorus: do you want me to jump,
from an aeroplane?
do you want me to climb,
the Himalayas?
do you want me to fall,
fall to my knees and cry?
'cause i'm already fallin'
already fallin'
and i feel fine...

i chat with you
in a friendly way
you stand up for me
against a wicked foe
i think that you like me,
 but how could i know?

chorus: do you want me to jump,
from an aeroplane?
do you want me to climb,
the Himalayas?
do you want me to fall,
fall to my knees and cry?
'cause i'm already fallin'
already fallin'
and i feel fine...

i see you, see you
with another girl
one who never cared before...
and i cry,
why don't you understand?

chorus:do you want me to jump,
from an aeroplane?
do you want me to climb,
the Himalayas?
do you want me to fall,
fall to my knees and cry?
'cause i'm already fallin'
already fallin'
and i feel fine...

but now i'm broken hearted
and now i'm falling
-now i'm falling-
and i don't feel fine...
contemplating
what we could be
what we'll never be
since you don't love me
and i love you
so what can i do?

Chorus: do you want me to jump,
from an aeroplane?
do you want me to climb,
the himalayas?
do you want me to fall,
fall to my knees and cry?
'cause i'm already fallin'
already fallin'
and i feel fine...

and i feel fine.....

Never and Now

i never believed that fairytales were real
i never liked knights in shining armor
i never thought wishes came true
i never thought i'd fall in love
i never believed i'd be shy again
i never believed in happily ever after
then i met you
now i believe in pixie dust,
Sparkling in the wind.
Cupid's arrow has struck my heart
and now your my knight in shining armor
your my wish come true
now i believe in happily ever after
now my fairytales alive
now that i've met you.

Two Words

Guilt-
Overwhelming-
Drifting apart
Like we never were
…
Were we?
Dropped,
Suspected dirty,
Addicted.

Fell on battered knees
With a bleeding heart.

Can we go back,
Please?

Lost innocence,
Forgotten naivety,
Now feigning ignorance.

Clock-
Tick tick tocking…

Acting;
Doing it flawlessly…

“All you need is love”
…Unknown…
First-
You have to get it.

Bearing my heart;
Stolen kisses,
Forbidden touches,
Allowed molesting,
Attempted rape
-regret-

Mounting Shame

Detrimental drought

B r o k e n
And broken hearted.

Tired,
Yearning,
Striving to be noticed

Invisible…

Universal Consensus-
Or is it?

Striking out
Have to go home now-
Right?

Unsure,
Confused,
Stumbling,
Crying…
Begging
…Saved?

Knight in shining armor!

Rejected:
Hopes dissolved

Ignored,
Hurt:
Desperation,
Depression.

Delusions of fantasy:
Wishing,
Dreaming,
Pretending,
To be fun and fancy free.

Forgotten

Face upturned

-rain-

Drowning,
Purging,
Reinvigorating,

Dying…

Resurrected

Back to purity:
Proud and free,

Just me.

Silence

i wish i could hear
what he has to say to me,
the frustration of life
always gets in the way.
my thoughts, my secret
and silent prayers,
spin through my head
distracting me.
i lean in closer, listening now.
he says, "my darling, my daughter,
my sweet, my love,
you are my child,
and i love you so much."

Spider

Painter of dreams,
Scribbler of thoughts,
your eyes
entrance and bewitch me,
caught in your spell
you taunt and you flirt,
laying the trap,
and me, unknowingly
got myself caught.
you are a spider
and you think
you've caught
a juicy little fly,
but I'm a black widow.
So.........................
Goodbye.

New

i know i try
way too hard,
but i'm new at this,
so isn't trying too much
better than not trying at all?
my dreams, i know,
are simply dreams,
and i know that nothing
could ever happen between us.
i still wished and hoped though,
and you crushed that small hope,
with that horrible little word,
no.

Haunters

What ghoul haunts my dreams,
and makes me toss and turn?
What ghost tells me
Not to trust the people I like?
What phantom convinces
that I am not beautiful?
What troll says that
“I will never be good enough for anyone?”
certainly not the Holy Ghost,
I know and I hear my savior say,
"Peace, be still, trust ME, you are beautiful,
You will always be enough for me."
