Sara Giroux Poem
Excavation begins,
chisel strikes
hardened rock
surface
So uncompromising
that not a mark is made.
Another more
powerful strike
breaks through,
a small cranny.
Slowly,
precisely,
painfully,
the work pays off.
Layer upon layer
lies beneath,
how disconcerting,
so much more work
to be done
to reach
the core.
Steadily
each layer fragments,
revealing
yet another,
hardened more
by time's passage.
The digging down
seems endless yet,
with sweat and tears
and little sleep,
the work is done.
The journey
to the center
reveals the magma,
the essence,
the truest form,
beneath all
the hardened rock.

In the distance saws
Assault morning's quietness.
Tears fall like the trees.

Sara Giroux Poem
Down,down come the trees,
Forests ravaged by pure greed.
Is nothing sacred?

Sara Giroux Poem
Sioux,Saura once trod here.
Dwelling here on river's edge.
Their Spirits remain.
Quiet.
Hear them now,
Footsteps on the path we walk,
voices in the breeze.
This is hallowed ground.
Each tree,rock,mount,stream revered.
Let it be so now.

Steamy,sultry,lazy days.
River's cool relief!

Water droplets fall.
Eyes closed,they are my mantra,
Cleanse this weary soul.

Church confounds my mind!
Creeds,dogma,rigid doctrine.
I'll just walk these woods!
