As I Lay Down

Thoughts racing through my mind
As I lay down to sleep at night
Playing through the events of my life
Darkened shadows dance on my wall
Dreams have no fast forward or rewind
Trying my best to not sleep, but slowly losing the fight
The pain in my heart as sharp as a knife
Holding on, hoping not to fall

Where did my mind lose my soul?
Searching for answers I do not know.
Lost in my own confusion and pain.
Emotions suppressed causing strain.
Somewhere my heart, soul and mind will meet.
Once again to find their peace.

As I lay down to sleep at night.
I cannot help but wonder, where I'm going to
I can see and feel where I have been.
Which causes so much fright.
At the crossroads of my life, not knowing what to do.
My head in a downspin.
………As I lay down to sleep.

Reflection In the Mirror

As I stare into the mirror, the reflection I see looking back at me
fills my heart with sadness and pain.
I've forgotten what it's like to be strong.
I look into the mirror for answers I cannot see.
Staring for so long my eyes strain....
Where, oh where did I go wrong?

I remember the better days.
The ones filled with laughter and happier times.
The days when I was me and only me.
I've learned a little about being hard in many ways.
Somewhere I lost sight of the signs.
As if I were blind and could not see.

The reflection in the mirror of someone I used to know
She's laughing at me through my tears.
It's more than my heart can hold.
The feelings of sadness overflow.
Reflection I pray take away my fears
and make me feel forever bold.

I Already Know

I was walking along the water's edge;
the sky stardust.
Occasionally a shooting star falls into the depth of the night.
The moon casts a glow across the rough sea.
Here is where I search to find the answers to the questions inside my soul.
Looking deep into my heart, staring ahead until all is out of sight.
What I see now is only me.
The answers to the questions in my mind;
I have had withing me.
The beauty of the place I'm in surrounds me and gives me serenity.
My thoughts racing against my mind.
Just like the waves of the sea.
Almost in synchronized time.
The rumble of the water; the intensity of the waves crashing at my feet.
Here is where fantasy and reality meet.
Walking along the water's edge.
Here is where my answers find me.
Inside my soul.
This, I already know.

Rewind

Missing the days we used to hold hands
Missing the days we couldn't bear to be apart
We used to kiss each other everyday
In our world love had no demands
You still hold the key to my heart
But I feel like our love has gone astray
Please baby tell me how to get you back
      I'm losing my mind
My soul has jumped its track
Pause to forward, skip to rewind
I hope your heart is still one with mine
I would give anything to have you back in my arms again
Just waiting for you to give me a sign
This isn't the love with you I planned
Please baby tell me how to get you back
     I'm losing my mind
My soul has jumped its track
Pause to forward, skip to rewind

Only a Dream

Walking together on a cool and breezy
night beneath the light of the moon.
Gazing off the pier at the glistening sea.
On one side fishermen fishing
the other side lovers kissing.
The wind rustling through your hair.
Politely, I brush it from your face.
Our eyes lock it seems as if it were
only you and me.
Your eyes sparkle from the lights
illuminating the sky.
A flushed feeling came over me
expressing it across my face.
Your beauty strikes me and for a moment
time stands still.
You reach out to hold my hand
without a second to hesitate our hands
meet.
My lips dry as if I had no words to speak.
I lick them to moisten them; your words
sound so soft in my head.
It makes my knees feel weak, if we
might we will. The kiss so soft and sweet
unlike the lovers to either side. My soul
is surfing with the high tide.
The night ends as I can see daylight break.
At the window I stare...
only a dream,
I did make.

Without You

There's no me without you.
My life would be lonely
There would be no moon, no stars, or sun
My soul would be empty, no beat in my heart.
Without you I wouldn't be
My world would be full of despair
My life would be done.
I'm so deeply in love with you.
I want to feel your heart and soul within me
I can't stop thinking about you
You are my world, the meaning of my life
There would be no me without you
My heart would break in two.
I would be so lonely.
My world would be forever blue
if I didn't have you.
Without your love I would be lost
There's no me without you.
