A Real Hero

A REAL HERO?
                                                          By: Synthia Miner

What does it take to be a hero?
Being a single mother, keeping a family strong.
or a single father, helping his daughter along.
Maybe a soldier leaving his newly pregnant wife.
or making the ultimate sacrifice, to save only one life?

                  What makes a real hero?
Knowing how to stop a drug lab or a bomb.
or having the power to save a child gone wrong.
Is it being able to help the hungry,
or saving everything that’s been lonely.

How do we define a hero?
Every way you look at it, people can say,
heroes come naturally…. in a way,

But; when you dig down deep,
          I see only one answer

           A real hero must have the will to live;
whether for him or her self,
or everything and everyone one around them.
Heroes have the courage to stand up for what they believe in.

From this I say, that my Uncle Jason Mullholand is a real hero.
He has fought for his life, not just to be alive,
                        but for raising his family.

So you see, heroes are hear everyday.
It’s the soldier fighting for peace,
        and the mother battling cancer.
And the kids you ignore hunting for food,
Just to feed their always hungry siblings.

A real hero values the life of everyone,
and charges with the courage of love.

To every hero out there
Please keep up the fight for life!

Father

I look around and all I see,
Are all my things you never gave to me.
You call yourself fair,
But you put me through despair.
As you ask me how I’m doing,
I look at you and see you fooling.
You screw around and expect me to care.

When I drown, I know you won’t care.
You say you love but you and I know you don’t.
You can keep pretending,
I’m done with the lies,
And I can’t see why your still here.
You say you don’t hear my cries,
At night when you yell,
God save me from my Hell!

I don’t like you Father,
Can’t you tell?
You call yourself my Father,
Well I don’t love you any longer.
I want you out of my life,
So bad, sometimes I might draw a knife.

Since you say you actually care,
Then why are you still here?
You say you won’t cuss,
Just to earn my trust.
Well get on a one way bus,
I don’t want to hear your fuss.

I despise you Father,
If you want me I’ll be with Mother
The one who really cares,
And won’t put me through scares.
When she hears my cries,
She holds me till the tears dry.

The man who is my Father,
I refuse to love you any longer.

Note: This was not outa hate, it was a past experience of how my father treated me. This is how i got over it, with out holding on to a bit of hate.

Sabbath

Some keep the Sabbath going to Church
I just keep staying at home
with thunder for a chorister
and an ochard for a dome

Some keep the Sabbath in Surplice
I just wear my wings
instead of tolling the bell for Church
our little Sexton sings

God preaches a noble Clergyman
and the serman is never long
So instead of getting to Heaven
at last, I'm going all along

NOTE: not my poem just a very inspirational and special poem to me.

Open Door

An open door may say come in.
A shut door says stay away.
Shadows and ghost go through shut doors.

If a door is shut, and you want it shut,
why open it?

If a door is open, and you want it open,
why shut it.

Doors say many things,
many doors say things.
Doors forget, but only doors know,
what it is doors forget.

NOTE: Not my poem, once again for college, need some feed back on what it is that doors think. Any thoughts, please comment.

When You Think Love

When you think love, what do you hear?
I hear the sound of whispers in my ear.
- It starts with guys and lies,
then leads to going to get fries.
-Eventually we'll go home for a drink;
and you'll throw up in the sink.
I'll go to leave while you sleep,
I learned the hard way that you're a creep.

You expect me to call you the next day.
Do you want me to throw my life away?
I wasted a night with you;
what did you want me to do?
Luckily i got smart and left.
Before you committed a theft.
You could have ruined my life.
I was smart enough not to be your wife.

But, love comes with choices and i was wrong.
I should have stayed with you, though it would not have been long.
Unfortunately, you died shortly after,
because you had cancer.
We were all so sad;
that you drove your self mad.

Your Nerve

If your nerve deny you,
Go above your nerve.
He can lean against the grave,
If he has no fear to swerve.

Thats a stedy posture,
never any bend.
Held those gentle arms,
the best a giant can mend.

If your soul should sea-saw,
Lift the flesh door.
The flame of love wants oxygen,
Yet nothing more...

NOTE: not my own poem. this poem i have to research for college, and want to know how it makes people feel. please comment if you want to it would help me tremensly.
