Juaneco Torrente Poem
Awash by ripple of night's waves
the glittering starfish drifts
like an open flower on clay--
its plump flesh, a reddish lip
enchanting two lovers' soft kiss
through a glide of dusky sand.

Juaneco Torrente Poem
Moments in time, so precious to hold,
Effortlessly they fade each day.
Maybe, it's just a sign of getting old?
Originally, that is what I prayed.
Registering in my heart, what I was being told
You cannot prepare yourself for a Father slipping away.

Juaneco Torrente Poem
It was her forest bright as sunset -
a morning, slithering through wisterias
of lace, tendrils innocent and lush -
verdant the bush of ridges melts.
Is my heart giving birth to flowers?
Radiant you are, your body of garden.
Eyes to open the spirit.

Juaneco Torrente Poem
I hide the emptiness
digging a hole in the head, unending pain
bury a stiff smile
between huffs of breath
It's almost a mystery
it can almost be unheard
the cloud in my eyes, almost curling
too imperfect for words
I dig this smile into a hole
snatched by my last breath
as the wound reaches beyond
an imperfect heart
