Premier Amama

Daily wakes in the cold darkness
wears spectacles and looks at Uganda in sadness
All the lazy Ugandans criticize him; madness!
Insane crazy they are,
him the hardworking they paint corruption
in wisdom he laughs them off
higher and higher like a rocket he takes off
I got my land on sale,
a rich organization offers me a good pay
yes, I seize the opportunity without any delay
I got a role for my retirement I need to play
why then is he condemned?
Look, he is a hard worker
his most critics are hard talkers
with empty hands, no stone laid for
Uganda's building, instead demolish his work in the night
and pretend to be good in the light
I laugh, ha ha ha... things are just tight
they are typical barking dogs- never bite
Amama is the mama of peace
Daily wakes in the cold darkness
wears spectacles and looks at Uganda in sadness
All the lazy Ugandans criticize him; madness!
... Insane crazy they are
him the hardworking they paint corruption
in wisdom he laughs them off
higher and higher like a rocket he takes off
I got my land on sale,

yes, I seize the opportunity without any delay
I got a role for my retirement I need to play
why then is he condemned
Look, he is a hard worker

with empty hands, no stone laid for
Uganda's building, instead demolish his work in the night
and pretend to be good in the light
I laugh, ha ha ha... things are just tight
they are typical barking dogs- never bite
Amama is the mama of peace
he deserves respect please!
he is the real premier.

Little Son

Atisa Nicholas
Little son

my hands were too short to reach out far
legs summarised to throw long strides
eyes too small to see wide
with a pure heart to bare sins
then I grew;
have you sitted on my laps
straightening you in a clear path
to leave you a man on this earth
you remember,
what I said at your birth
'you will be great among the great'
I meant it never despaired
you my only, one I inspired
a sunny day to you I aspired
its time!-it hasn't expired
this big world is yours,
me I'll soon be retired
do always good, never get tired
you are a Christian not a triad
pray to GOD to show you his gold
all belong to him am told
get good friends and a better future mould
fight, fight! always fight like a lion bold
now, tomorrow till you are old
then in all corners you'll have your legacy sold
..........my son my son my son...
do as I said and my little son,
you'll shine like that huge sun

Be Aware of Kampala: Part I

Be Aware of Kampala. Part I

Pavements are not for pedestrians but Boda Bodas, you will be knocked down.
Zebra Crossing are not for safe crossing unless you want to be asked if you are a zebra, at worst knocked before questioning.
Traffic lights don't mean anything, even when they do, Boda Bodas take the first priority.
Taxi men are the only ones who know how to drive, in fact it is said you are supposed to drive your car only, your way.
Many have sirens just in case they find two cars ahead of them, then urgency escalates.
No matter how they drive, don't bother people with special number plates.
You are always in wrong before a traffic officer, better fold your palm and speak Luganda if you have no call to make.
Standing on a roadside with heavy jam is a death sentence, you can easily be knocked by a car or boda boda which has better things to do.
Road side markets mean stalls in the road, crush a vendor's tomato laid in the road and you will compensate with a sack.
Absence of traffic officers means absence of traffic rules on that road.
Heavy rains mean flooded roads, no matter how they pretend to maintain the drainage systems.
If you survive dust, potholes will always serve you in one ride what the gym does in years.
Be aware of Kampala

Eclipse In the Pearl

Too early, too late
the sun sunk deep
all gazed, all amazed
what a clash!
Moon-sun, the titans
wow! eyes open, ears loud
all shouted.
at the break of dawn
A new beginning

Big Father

Big Father

I try to figure out, read these lines and try to get up
comprehending the lie that you care for me
appreciating the fact that you've been there for me
though I'm not just little as you said
I'm a big boy trying to be on my own
for only memories of a drunk dad I own
heavy punches and shouts on phone
I don't want to remember that,
No.
Not about to talk about that
coming home late each night
thronging mum and dragging her on the floor,
my heart bleeds as pains flow.
O.k, I know nothing for I'm just a kid
but I know that cruel man you are
a beast in a sheep's skin you are
I love your words
I like your talks
For you are a good preacher
yet definitely the worst christian
for christ sake,
I'm sorry dad.
and expect you to be too.
Besides all,
I love you dad and honour your words.

Far My Love

I am trying to run this race
Reach to your pace
beating all odds,guess...
My love, my half

I fight hard to forget,
your smile I always get
then my heart sprints miles
innocent like nuns in veils,
missing you in my soul her hails

Lonely, I don't care
for your love is rare,
I know I am here and you are there,
sacrificing my love, I don't dare
I am fresh like a desert- bare
At your photo I stare
Never forget me, it isn't fair
doing that my heart you tear.

To lose you is my fear,
I will always remain in tears

Lust Never Lasts

It creeps in like a careless whisper,
in cold nights and sleepy days.
It likes busy streets and hides in lonely places.
It rages a soft war, mind blowing to drive great warriors crazy.
It itches, pierces, tickles, oozes, urges and suffocates deep thinkers.
It is loud in deafening silence and quiet in thunders.
It despises kings and corrupts nobles.
Young, old, man, woman, it respects no titles.
It gallops saints furiously and cunningly consumes sinners.
It scatters families and winnows love.
It feasts on idle minds and mingles in merry making
It is sold in excess wine and loyal desperation.
It creates satisfying imaginations and grows swiftly.
It finds no better reason, no better person, no right time, no appropriate place.
It sweeps worship places with the same normal blow it uses in bars.
Lust knows no height, and to it size is just a number.
It betrays beauty and sacrifices intellect and affluence.
It breaks trust, creates bonds and memories.
It is as fast and delicate as a bubble.
It listens to rumors and prides in wasted lives.
When it is done with the soul, it takes the body too.
Giants look worthless while subdued good men become monsters before appeasing it .
It mixes reality, truth and deception.
Overcoming it in a mind wrestle is a task equal to purifying gold because it never gives up, only retreats to fight another day.
It is a usual visitor and always disappears like a mist at a bad reception.
It is as weak as it is powerful
It never goes forever, lust never lasts

Love Bird

Love birds

Last valentine I was counting,
tik-tak with heart pounding,
waiting for my belle,
ears vertical to hear that love bell
oh God, that day turned hell

I love, I said I love you
I believe that tomorrow will come
but doubt whether you'll be gone
It's my hearts prayer, I pray
be mine, I am yours I swear
my love, my touchy nerve
my peace, my dove

Come let's walk,
come let's talk
Besides these quiet waters
see those beautiful skies
our emotions written on the stars
hear the lovely singing birds
For this time, I wait for you
till you come, I'll keep patient
come beside me, nearer dear come

Smile, my weakness will be gone
Glance at me, I'll know your heart I won
Beloved, walk and joy in me will be born
Heal me with your soft tone
I have you, I have all
It's a dream come true;
that dear you are mine
It's only one thing I'm having that day
please be my valentine...

Tribute To the Lion of Mogadishu

TTribute
With many echoes I step my boot out,
To go and make our country a better place.
I smell smoke, hear war drums and see fatalities
I do it for you, myself, our predecessors and descendants.
I will surely blow the horn of victory.
I will surely return home in colors.
To my comrades (my responses) in the fog of war:
If I go down after the victory:
Put me in the colors of my country, take me home.
Tell my father that I was the man he always wanted me to be.
Tell my mother that I always remembered her in detail.
Tell my wife that she is beautiful and I kept our promise.
Tell my son that I liked his milk teeth and bold baby steps.
Tell my daughter that she will always be my princess.
Tell my little brother that he can have my hunting grounds.
Tell my sister that there is a prince who will treat her like I did.
Tell my boys that I made it and will now hunt with our fore fathers.
Tell my country that it cost me to have the victory,
And I did it with pride and modesty
Tell the next generation that I was a soldier, a father, a child, a brother, a friend and countryman.
I was born to do this; I do it with inner peace
Let the writer do his job.
Rest in Power

Confessions

Confessions

The deepest of all, I write in my heart, as the fondest of all I keep in my memories. The weakness of all I fortify within my palm as I let the pain dive with the wind. I rekindle the good deeds as I strangle shortcomings. I fight my worst self as I embrace the best of me. It's not all about how fast I can go, not even how far I can go but how I feel when I get there.
