Curt Klinghoffer Poem
One morning arising
and cursed with the burden
of thinking
My jackhammer brain’s
ceaseless pounding
the surface of concrete
I came on a leaf
dancing dangerously close
to my window
Chlorophyll stolen its
blood intermingled
with rain
Speckled and auburn
and falling and
grasping at nothing
Jesus with all of his
lilies could not have
designed this
I gazed at the leaf until
I and the leaf
were the same

Curt Klinghoffer Poem
God on a cold night
Hears my frozen fears
The numbness of my solitude
The wind around my ears
God on a cold night
Crackles in the trees
Dances on the clouded moon
Whistles through the leaves
God on a cold night
Guards the warming fire
Waits in silence whispering
To angels on the wire
God on a cold night
Knows my loneliness
Holds the hope of harboring
My soul come home to rest
I live on the edge of permanence
I yearn to know the light
I speak in hushed vibrations to
God on a cold night.

Curt Klinghoffer Poem
No elegance ever there was
Like sorrow
Balances the world upon each shoulder
Justified and dignified
With sorrow
Holds me as an arrow
Flying upstream through the marrow
But hold on to tomorrow
You will be there
With sorrow
Sweet of sound and pure of taste
Perfume of life and afterlife
That is the truth,
The certainty
Of sorrow
