Sherwin Balbuena Poem
When everything around seems wrong,
You feel there's no one to belong,
You must not fear.
When doubts begin to reign your mind,
A truth will save you, and you'll find --
I am sincere.
When distance appears to part us,
And there's no bridge for words to pass,
I am still here,
Speaking the language of the heart.
The wind tells you, though we're apart
That I am near.
When time appears to move slowly
And waiting makes you feel weary,
Don't surrender.
As I have promised you before --
Bringing with me my soul and more --
I will be there.

Sherwin Balbuena Poem
'Tis intangible
Unlike the spears and the guns
Of the daughters and the sons
Unconquerable
But partly they symbolize
Its abstraction ere our eyes
The time has passed by
And the world has also turned
From chaos into concord
Now we say goodbye
To old discrimination
Racism and commotion
There's a new picture
That appropriately depicts
Our genuine love and respect
For our own culture --
Raising our right hand to pledge
And doing our job with badge

Sherwin Balbuena Poem
As the sun shines over us
Let it warm our hearts and remind us
That DEBESMSCAT
Is once again on its flight
Students:
We are DEBESMSCAT's wings
Spread against the wind of change
We will be strong and striving
Wise, virtuous, and obedient
Teaching Staff:
We are DEBESMSCAT's head
Directed towards its flight's goal
We will teach its wings and lead
And steer them to the right course
Non-teaching staff:
We are DEBESMSCAT's torso
Attached to its wings and head
We will provide enough power
Support and attend to their needs
We will toil hand in hand!
Fly, DEBESMSCAT, higher!
And you will surely land
On your goal which is greener!
DEBESMSCAT (Dr. Emilo B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology) is a state college located at Cabitan, Mandaon, Masbate, Philippines.

Sherwin Balbuena Poem
Usad na libot
San bituon sa langit;
Pitbong nagputok
(Minasbate)
Isang pag-ikot
Ng talang nasa langit;
Kanyo'y sumabog
(Filipino)
One revolution
Of a star in the night sky;
Bamboo cannon bursts
(English)

Sherwin Balbuena Poem
Different seasons
In different nations,
Different flavors
By different colors;
Different races
In different places,
Different tongues
And different songs;
But we are living
In only one world,
And we are speaking
The very same word.
Different actions
For different intentions,
Different values
For different issues;
Different icons
For different religions,
Different faiths
With different fates;
But we are doing
The same act of love,
And we are pleasing
The only one God.
Different leads
For different needs,
Different balls
For different goals;
Different dogmas
And different schemas,
Different dreams
And different means;
But we are playing
To stay in the game,
And we are praying
That peace be the same.

Sherwin Balbuena Poem
The law requires each one to seed
A small device inside our head
To solve a case without much aid,
To count the things: who's there, who's dead?
It links with me without my Yes,
And reads my brain without permit,
And finds me in my secret place,
And scans my flesh for cold or heat,
And spots my stares and line of sight,
And determines my hormone saps,
And spans my heart and pressure's height,
And notices my walks, my naps,
Then processes the data got
Again without my own decree.
And on their screen a message popp'd,
"This man we found wants to be free."

Kun mag-ági ka
Saní na dálan
Warâ na'n balíkan
Saní na dálan
May púnò san mángga
Na punô sin búnga
An úna nag-agi
An puno ginyugyog
Takdag pati putot
Panduha nag-agi
Kay wara na'n bunga
Dahon an ginpa-pa
Pantulo nag-agi
Kay wara na'n dahon
Panit an ginkaon
Pang-upat nag-agi
Kay wara na'n panit
Gamot an ginkitkit
An ulhi nag-agi
Kay wara na'n gamot
Nagsupa sin lapok

Sherwin Balbuena Poem
The sky is blue, so please do not lie.
If it is not, then we shall all die
Like Sampaguita when it is burned:
Its white petal is life; ash is death.
Stay thin, O cloud above the Earth,
So seeing the color is not hard.
Being low is not humility
When other lower eyes cannot see
The real colors of the ones that fly.
It is a wall of divisiveness.
Stay thin, O cloud below the sky,
So that the Earth can see real blueness.
But you are made of the way you are.
You could not hear the voice from afar.
The science of skepticism
Runs through your veins like the human blood,
Develops objectivism
Of how sky's hue may be understood.
As knowledge thickens, so does your doubt.
You hide the blue sky at day, O cloud.
You pretend to be stronger than wind.
But you fall down in the form of rain.
Many lower eyes you made blind
Now see that the sky is blue again.
