A Place They Call Home

Small fish die
But don’t you cry
They leave behind their bones
To make a brand new home
Called a Coral Reef

Beautiful bright colors to behold
Such as pink, yellow, orange and gold
A place where many fish live except for the whales
Such as anemones, sponges and snails
Where they hide from the shark with great relief
A place they call home, Coral Reef

Sc Home

A beautiful attraction
Like the coral reef
A beautiful fall
Like the autumn leaf

Beautiful words
A beautiful sound
A great experience
All around

A palm tree
An ocean crashing
The hot summer sun
Summer bashing

Or what about winter
Snow upon the ground
There is only one place
All of this can be found

Rivers flowing
Across the rocks it streams
A wish upon a star
Palmetto dreams

Mountains in the distance
A scene of a sight
The sun in the trees
A beautiful light

All four seasons
Can be found here
South Carolina
A place I hold dear

I Was the One

There was a time when I was the one standing in that green grass
I was the little one running the bases, running fast

There was a time when I was the one fielding that ground ball, making the play
I was the one listening to every word that the coach would say

There was a time when I was the one standing on third, listening to the coach in the coach’s box
I was the one that had on that uniform wearing my ball pants high at the top of my socks

There was a time when I was in that dugout yelling those cheers
I was the one, when got hurt, would hold back those tears

There was a time when I was the one, playing the game, having fun
But now the roles are reversed and my new role has just begun

Now I’m the one wearing this coach’s shirt
I’m the one that must take care of you when you get hurt

Now I’m the one teaching and showing you
You’re the one listening like I used to do

Now I’m the one who watches the game from the other side of that chalk line
I can’t go in, I just have to watch it from the other side

Now I’m the one giving signals, telling you what to do
I’m the one, when you get down, that must encourage you

Now I’m one that must push you a little more
Making you play hard, giving you something to work for

Now I’m the one who must try to make this game fun
But remember I’m new at this, this coaching experience has just begun

And you’re so young, it’s important you get the right fundamentals now
It’s funny that’s it my job to show you how

But I guess I can do it, I do know the game
I just want you to love it as much as I did, just the same

It’s a passion that I have that I am now passing to you
And I hope that you put this information into great use

It’s something that I’ve worked for; put in a lot of time
But now I’m watching it from the other side

Wasted Tears

If no one can see
These tears one cries
Then they don’t matter
Yourself you told this lie

The day passes
Your painful emotions you hold in
Until darkness sets
And they resurface again

Your heart falls heavy
Like the branches of a weeping willow
As tears stream down your face
And softly land on your pillow

That empty feeling
At that point seems to grow and grow
As others sleep soundly
Your pain they’ll never know

You’re lonely and tired
You grow weary and weak
But the next day comes
And of your sorrow, you’ll never speak

That laugh in your soul
And the song in your heart
Has faded away
And from you it does part

That light in your eyes
No longer gleam
And the night grows colder
So it does seem

But for those that you cry for
And they do not know
Is it worth all the agony
If to them emotions you’ll never show

So if a tear falls
And no one can see
Does it have any importance
Or should you just let it be

I’m not really sure
But I have cried for many years
And nothing seems to change
All I’m left with are wasted tears

Monster's Path

For all the children who cross monster’s path
Beware of his cold-heart and his great wrath

Don’t look into his eyes; they’ll draw you in
And once you’re there, you can’t get out, you can’t win

It’ll be a long journey; a rough ride
No matter where you turn, there will be no where to hide

The storm clouds will rush over and cover your head
Thunder bolt memories shall haunt you ‘till your dead

This monster will be your friend to begin with, but his ways will turn
He will take your dreams, and up in smoke they’ll burn

All you can hope for is the safety of others who follow behind
You hope you can get your message out just in time

Tell them to look the other way; don’t step on his playing field
Don’t be a target, keep up your shield

Don’t let it be the monster’s fangs that haunt you in your sleep
Don’t let it be an untrustworthy heart that you will forever keep

Don’t let it be you who sits in his dungeon and waits to be released
Because all you are to him is a monstrous feast

Those tears you cry don’t matter, except to maybe you
And you’ll keep crying them because there is nothing else you can do

In the end it’s bloody; you’ll pay the ultimate sacrifice
Maybe he’ll be satisfied and let others live their lives

A Christian and a Solider

A Christian and a solider, they both seem the same to me
Fighting for Jesus Christ, just trying to get others to see

A battle that we just can’t let the Devil win
We must stand on the front line and fight off all the sin

Just because an army of darkness is coming our way
We must hold up our shields of faith, plant our feet and stay

For the Lord is on our side, fighting with us too
And with His help, there is nothing in this world that we can’t do

But are you a solider out on that battlefield today
When you see a fellow Christian down, do you help him up or walk away

Are you fighting for everyone’s life; their salvation
We don’t have much time, it says so in Revelation

Is your armor nice and shiny, or is it tarnished and gray
Do you stand beside others no matter come what may

Do you flinch at gunpoint, or do you stay tall
Do you have a firm foundation, or do you fall

As Christians we have this privilege of going through this battle together
Drawing others to Him; getting to live forever

Just remember one day we’ll stand in front or our Master, our Lord
How many times did you draw YOUR sword

Christmas Time

Greeting cards and gifts
Candy canes galore
Lights and stockings
The beautiful Christmas decor

A roaring fireplace
Families coming together as one
Children laughing
Taking in the holiday fun

Decorating the tree
And Christmas cookies baking
Times like these
Are memories in the making

The Christmas story read
Silent Night playing slow
And the quiet whisper
Of the falling snow

The hint of Christmas pine
And Christmas carolers singing
And the musical chime
Of Christmas bells ringing

A cop of hot coco
Mistletoe, poinsettias and holly
And also St. Nick
Makes this holiday season jolly

But it’s not about the gifts
Or the accessories that complete this season
It’s about our family and Lord
That gives Christmas a reason

Battered

Time and time again
We fall back to where we start
And time and time again
We pick up the pieces of our heart

Broken dreams
Trust at stake
Lies and misfortune
Vulnerability to take

The boat does sink
The plane goes down
The steel will bend
Your life flips upside down

Tosses and turns
The waves will crash
Thunder and lightening
The wind will bash

Worn the limbs
Battered the sail
This path I'm on
I've managed to fail

Rising up
Then back down again
Needle in hand
With a heart to mend

Battle after battle
Loss after loss
Why bother to fight
Does it matter the cost

The storm will come
Tormenting at its will
Maybe this battered soul will be here
Once the storm comes to a still

My Light

Once again
Here I lay
A state of loneliness
Shadows stay

How can one be so loved
Yet felt to be at arms distance
Then when tries to reach out
Feels nothing but strain and resistance

Can’t anyone see this heart I have
The feelings I long to share
Holding them all in
Just doesn’t seem quite fair

I try to stay calm
I take the time and try to see
But at the end of each day
There only lies me

But the sun will come up
Tomorrow we’ll be fine
Throughout the day
Until the sun no longer shines

I can’t help but this be the way that I feel
Embedded deep in my heart
Are just meaningful feelings
That tonight, from them, I can’t depart

All I want is for the moon to be a little closer
The stars to be near
If not so far away
Night wouldn’t be my worst fear

But the further they go
The smaller I feel
And the reality of it all unfolds
And the pain is very real

I close my eyes
Lying to my right an empty hole
And so far away once more
Waiting for the sunlight to reveal my soul

The rain starts to fall
Pounding on the window’s face
As if the clouds are crying tears
As if were landing softly on a pillowcase

But through the storm
Though battered and torn
A night sky clears
Though heavy and worn

But the stars still sparkle
The moon will still shine
Until the break of day
And my light is once again mine

Untitled

The rhythm of our heart
Is something that lies within
A rhythm that is placed there
From the moment life begins

Through the treacherous storm
The heart will carry on its way
And through the darkest night
Or the brightest day

Fighting, trembling
On the rugged path
Through mountains and valleys
Through demons wrath

Callous and scared
My words do come
Hated my many
And only loved by some

Yet the heart still beats
Through thick and thin
Guarded by a rib cage
Embedded within

Everyday it pumps
No matter the cost
Every year it goes
Every time, pieces lost

No matter the life
It beats on a different will
And one shall endure
Until the beats are still
