Joy of the Lord

Oh to experience the joy of the Lord, it is an indescribable feeling
That precious touch of His presence that lingers in good times and bad
He gives me beauty for ashes and strength where my human efforts fail
I confidently testify that the blood of Christ prevails.

He lavishes me with good gifts, and with talents to bring him glory
Joy in Him allows me to truly love my neighbours as I love myself
His joy brings peace and deliverance and His love is new every morning
I live to proclaim His name and represent Him in every way.

Oh to experience the joy of the Lord; It is a personal encounter
For God delights in the way I praise and adore Him
His glory envelopes me and fills my heart with gladness
I bask in His grace, love and His mercy towards me

What an awesome blessing to be a child of a King; I am royalty.
When I am weak and feeble, He makes me strong
True strength comes only from Jesus Christ who gives joy and makes everything alright.

The Day I Met You

The day I met you as a friend,
I knew my sorrows would end.
We walked and laughed together...
That day I knew our friendship was forever.

For better or worse,
You’re always there.
In sickness and health my pains you bear.
I’m so glad I met someone like you
I never thought my dream would come true!

Santa's Surprise

Christmas is my favorite time of year,
Filled with fun, laughter, and good cheer.
Friends and family gather together,
But it wouldn’t be the same without Mr. Claus affectionately called Santa.

I decided to write Santa a letter,
As he makes the Christmas season much better.
What do I want from Santa this year?
I wrote… “A Barbie doll, a blue bike, or a cushiony teddy bear…”

On Christmas Day, I looked under my tree,
To see what Santa left for me.
To my surprise, my gift was heaven-sent;
On the floor lay a golden ornament.

It shone so brightly like a star,
I dared not go too close, so I stood afar.
But I had to know more about this gift,
Which gave my heart a shimmering lift.

As I walked slowly to the tree,
The precious light grew dim, so I could see.
I took up the ornament which opened in my hands,
And five priceless gems were seen which I could see at a glance.
I stood in awe at such a sight,
I wasn’t panicked, I was alright.
I saw a note within the shell,
And read it aloud very well.

It read, “My dear friend Reneice,
In whom I’m well pleased,
I’ve received your letter of request.
However, I think these gems are the best.”

I looked at the gems carefully, every last one…
And thought, “These must be sent from Jesus the Son.
For each gem was quite unique
Reflecting love, faith, hope, joy, and eternal peace.

No cry,
joy.
Your joy…
Now…
Brook flown now,
No cry, only joy.
Flow now brook; flow now by joy.

My Career Chose Me

As a girl growing up, I always wanted to be,
The finest Teacher, anyone could ever see.

I buckled down to studies and kept the focus on my goal,
And often caught my practice in the noble Teacher role.

I would beat the plants silly when they were late for my class,
I would teach enthusiastically using rhymes, music, and dance.

My dolls would do their homework and actively participate,
But the chairs would get in trouble when they teased their classmates.

I was also, Lawyer, Doctor, and Cook for the children I held dear,
Somehow, I knew that I would be expected to extend a duty of care.

When school was over and the bells began to ring,
The class would say their prayers and the school song they would sing.

I would pretend to watch the children walk home hurriedly through the lane,
And anticipate the next day to play school once again.

I grew up to be that teacher I have aspired to be,
I have served well but became tired and am now a retiree.

I See Beyond

I see beyond your faults and just love you for who you are.
The little things you do when we are near or far...
I see beyond the tussle of our everyday strife,
And I thank God each day that you are a part of my life.

I see beyond the frustrations that linger each day,
And all the pain and heartache that have come our way.
I see beyond the dark clouds on a cold winter's night,
When it seems like hope is lost and nothing seems to be right.

I see beyond the troubles that rumble and roar...
For you the hidden depths of my love will soar.
I see beyond all the cares of life that exist;
I chose you and we will be together in an eternal bliss.

Ease My Pain

I smile, but my heart cries…
No one really knows what I feel inside.
Wish I could turn back the hands of time
Then I’d choose someone who’d still be by my side.

The hurt is still so fresh year after year;
And at times it seems so hard to bear
I often think a replacement will do,
But that scar remains with every thought of you.

I really need to get past the past…
And rid myself of the hurt at last.
But how can I accomplish this?
Jesus please grant me this one wish.

Let me abide in only in thee,
And be consumed by your precious love for me.
Help me to be able to love again.
Please ease my mind of this overwhelming pain.

Never Lose Hope

I know it has been hard, and you feel like you cannot cope; weep if you must but never lose hope.
You cry until you feel like your throat is tied with a rope; get that grief out but never lose hope.
The emptiness may seem very hard to bear but at some point, I encourage you to be of good cheer.
Death can be likened to that of a slippery slope, but remember there is life after death so never lose hope.
The pain you feel engulfs your being like an envelope, but stay strong and never lose hope.
The sting of death is appointed to the common man and even a pope, however, it will be defeated just never lose hope.
Rise up in victory and you will see that a day is coming which will bring the great jubilee.
I will encourage you to view death in a positive scope, remember God is with you through it all so never lose hope.

Soul Slipper

How could it be!? I was sinking deep in sin, choosing a life that was never made for me.
I grew up in a Christian family, in a household filled with morals, values and we lived happily.
Many of you know bits and pieces of my story. I want you to know that my soul slipping behaviours brought me no glory.
It all started when I was neglected and abandoned by the one I loved the most.
I couldn’t understand why and I still don’t know, but it is no fun when your best friend becomes a ghost.
Consequently, I grew cold, bitter, devastated, and torn with each passing day. I was hurt to the core and I could feel my soul slowly slip away.
When I tried to make sense of what was happening then, I thought to myself, “I’ll quit being the good guy. Let me get even!”
After a while I was determined to ‘live it up “not knowing that I was only hurting myself. My life started to spiral out of control and it seemed like there was no defense.
Why did I search for love in all of the wrong places? Why did I break the hearts of innocent faces!?
I thought all men were evil because I thought I didn’t deserve what had happened to me. I cried many nights, threw many pity parties.
I am happy I survived in this period of time because I would have died and not see my Saviour divine.
But I thank God for praying parents who gave me a good Godly heritage. My slippery soul reflected on each and every positive message that I have heard throughout the years. I could no longer act as though I didn’t care.
A caring network of friends offered valuable support. I was not alone. I pledged to share my story as a praise report!
I became determined, this time, to stay grounded in my faith. I bumped up my prayer life and saturated my life with the Word of God; I had to rid myself of hate.
I recommitted my life to Jesus Christ who cleansed and made me whole.
Sometimes God allows the heart to break in order to heal the soul.
I never doubted that He would help me to let go of all the hurt and pain. More importantly, I learned to forgive myself and the offender because there was more to gain.
I am who I am because of what I’ve been through. He delivered this soul slipper and He can do the same for you!
