Tammy Theriot Poem
I love a fresh cup of coffee on a cold winter’s day,
And the smile of a child with a new toy.
I love the look my husband gives me when he has nothing to say.
I love the sound of laughter and the feeling of joy.
I love the smell of wood burning,
And the gift of living.
I love the knowledge of learning,
And the act of giving.
I love spending time alone.
And seeing new places.
I love doing things on my own.
And meeting new faces.
I love the person I am today.
I love to read and to write.
I love that I have something to say.
I love putting up a fight.
I love hearing good news.
And the sound of silence and of rain.
I love having so much to lose.
Yet, so much to gain.
I love waking up to a new day,
And knowing God has given me another chance.
I wouldn’t want it any other way
Not even by circumstance.

Tammy Theriot Poem
I will take your bitterness and I will rise above
From you, I do not feel the love
I cannot fight you
but, that does not mean I cannot win
I simply will not allow you to break me down, again
You want me to fall
Now I am taking a stand
For your words and your weakness
Go hand in hand
I will no longer live my life for you or anyone else
It is time that I start living for myself
It is your turn to listen to what I have to say
I will no longer let you stand in my way
You are a part of my life I must let go
You are someone I wish I did not know
I must follow the path ahead of me
Courage and strength will see me through
For, I am finally done with you
So take these words as my final cry
For this is the day that I say goodbye

Tammy Theriot Poem
I remember all the hateful acts
The times you made me cry
How did you expect me to react?
When you left me high and dry.
In my life, I have reached a point
Where I care no longer
All the times you upset and abused me
Has made me stronger.
I would like to thank you all
For all that you have done
I will hold my head up high and stand tall
So, do not think for a second, that you have won.
I am stronger than any of you will ever know
It is the reason I am the person I am today
Because of this, I was able to grow
And your actions paved the way.

Tammy Theriot Poem
Three loads of clothes
Some towels to fold
A sink full of dishes
A mind full of wishes
A bathroom to sanitize
A job I most despise
Floors to mop
When does it stop?
And when I am through
There is cooking to do
Cleaning once more
Then off to the store
Just when I think, my job is done
I forget, I have errands to run
When does it end?
Then I remember
That tomorrow
I get to do it all over again.

Tammy Theriot Poem
Heart racing
Palms sweaty
Worry defeats me
As I Stare at the ceiling
Normality, a distant dream
Feel as if I am losing my mind
I am not exactly sure why
Questions begin to haunt my brain
Is it my heart?
Is it all in my head?
Why do I feel this way?
Why am I scared?
Panic takes over
I am alone
Powerless to struggle
Heart racing
Palms Sweaty
Worry defeats me
As I stare at the ceiling
Normality, a distant dream

Tammy Theriot Poem
It’s not about a flag,
Or even about race.
It’s not about being offended
Or being slapped in the face.
It’s not about a gun
Or a symbol we should ban.
It’s not about who won
Or even the opinions of man.
It’s about hate and it’s about greed.
It’s about corruption and lies.
It’s about want in spite of need.
It’s about control instead of compromise.
It’s about hiding the facts.
It’s about blinding distractions.
It’s about covering their tracks.
It’s about concealing our reactions.
It’s about feelings we can’t show.
It’s about being one-sided.
It’s about things we don’t know.
And it’s keeping us divided.

Tammy Theriot Poem
The beauty of a tree
As it sways with the wind
Tall, flowing, and free
Too strong to bend
The beauty of a tree
As it blooms in spring
It is a sight to see
It is a glorious thing
The beauty of a tree
I wish to know
But, the beauty of a tree,
Is not mine to grow.

Tammy Theriot Poem
I wear my heart on my shoulder for the world to see
I am not afraid to share my feelings emotionally
I am an open book, nothing to hide
I am a truthful being, in which to confide
I show compassion in the broadest of ways
This, I want to be known for, for the rest of my days
I live each day as if it were the last
For the moments of our lives, go by much too fast
I follow my heart and for that, I am not blind
I have faith in my talent, as well as, my mind
Integrity is my middle name
I hope others would say the same
I am real and will always be me
I see nothing wrong with living free
I give it my all
In everything I do
There is nothing too big or small
That I would not see through
I am determined right down to my core
I am someone for which you cannot ignore

Tammy Theriot Poem
You cannot accept me because you believe I am different from you,
You cannot look at me because you think I feel that way too.
What you do not see, are the things that we share,
If only you would take the time to notice, or to even care.
I do not want to be feared or pushed to the side.
I am proud of who I am, I have no reason to hide.
I want to be loved and accepted just like you do,
If you would give me half the chance, I would prove it to you.
God has made me special for a reason you may not comprehend,
All I want is acceptance, and to maybe be your friend.
I am only human, just like you,
Look inside your heart, and you may see it too.
Do not be afraid to believe or to understand,
That, I too, am a part of God's plan.

Tammy Theriot Poem
I am so done with the DRAMA
I am so done with the PAIN
I give and you take
There is nothing left to gain
My strength is weak
My heart is bruised
I cannot take anymore
I feel so used.
I accept you
Why can't you accept me?
One day you will regret what you have done
Then finally, you will see.
I refuse to let you win
I refuse to let it be
If I am only an option to you
Then you will not be a priority, to me.
