Please Don'T Lend Me Your Dream

Life is not an alibi, it wasn’t built for practicality
You cheer the crowd and succumb to formality
A tragic event will not stop the planet turning
In me is the spirit inexorable, avid - burning
Marching curators performing mandatory tests
The sheath plunging you deep inside the crust.
Will the world supply me with a new identity?
When the choices rise to countless infinity
People watch over see want they desire to see,
They wonder what I may turn out to be,
A flamboyant umbrella or a borrowed ladder
The missing profile, afraid to cross the border
Yesterdays shimmering light blinding your eyes
Friendly faces moving ahead bidding goodbye
Life is an occasion, but how far is the shore?
The rhythm of existence is an engulfing lore
Shaking of the nausea is a common mission
Will it regenerate to capsize my vibrant vision?
Survivors are far too many; aspire to be a savior,
You rise to it - the one dreamt of being a redeemer!

To My Lost Cat - From a Bereaving Friend

The gloomy day extended into two
Still I am wondering where you are.
Am I the lonely one, a fish out of water
If only you had stayed a little longer
Me thought we were meant to be together
Sweet nymph, you were more like a brother

While my mind thinks of the worst
The anguished heart hopes for the best
Still holding on to the cherished memories
Have you taken abode with the good fairies?
A feeling of loss – will you ever come back?
Hassle yet tender, you have left behind a mark.

I bid thee well noble comrade, farewell
With a hope that the other home is swell
May be on someday we shall meet
In the new world that is calm and neat
Holding you tight I smooch your fur
Safe in my arms, you will gently purr.

[This poem is dedicated to my lost cat, named Pinky]

'lines From the Heart'

There are certain things which one could never express
Like the cold shiver running through your veins
life’s like a dream, you can never guess - what’s gonna
happen next; don’t expect me to be your little miss
sunshine, - I’m nothing but an ugly plain jane.

a wandering singer among the swampy bushes in a
Crusoe’s Island, standing on the cliff like Shikhandi
in penance. You may not appreciate my deeds
which I do or pay any of attention to my words,
you call me as an untamed animal of the woods.

From no where I hear my mother crying aloud
‘get down this instant, you clumsy fool’ – thoughts died out
in the air. I overheard my old man whispering, “futile
being … no man would want to marry a crippled girl.”
What is the line that divides the sane and the insane?

How far is the paradise? How many steps to climb?
Time grips over the soul and rips it apart!
There are certain things that make you a dreamer,
While the others make you grapple in the dust.
I am an old Jew, for Christ’s sake redeem me.

Reading a Book

We held hands together, you and me
Gliding through a words of Sea
Slipping and soaring,
Lying beneath the metaphors of life.

A rhythmic cry of pain and bliss;
Entangled hearts, eternal pulsating love
A surreal moment signifies rejuvenation
Gentle transformation churning my soul

Living in a dream, gliding like a stream
Do we part? Nah good fellah
In me is you!

Rainbow People Let the Gods Fight Their Own War

(To My Proud Daughters of a Man-made World)
We shift shapes and shades all day long
Happy or sad we cleanse our souls with a song.
Together we sat giving company, counting crows,
The rhythm of our lives echoed in the shore.
We are the rainbow people known to all;
We answered the world to its beck and call.
Then came the fateful day, mighty and dark
We set out on a mission - a journey to embark.
We dreamt of a butterfly dream, soulful and bright
But the passage to heaven was out of sight.
Our glorious land was ravaged by the gods,
We lost our sight and calculated the odds.
Hunger and stupor became our hosts
We were defeated, but all is not lost.
The wind fails to favor our sail, our spirits encumber
In the land of lost we were outnumbered.
The soul shifts in the endless tyranny of life
Wicked wisdom cuts us through like a knife.
The golden gate was rusty, the eyes wander for shade
We marked the silver lining with our rotten blade.
So long my sweet angels I bid thee well
We spread to prosper but I cannot tell.
We are the sisters of a mother’s womb
Until the day we rest on a solitary tomb.
We burned the sacred books to get rid of the cold,
To the world that is yet to come – We are the mold.

She River

There is a River flowing down the hill
Dump your waste on her and make the kill
For there was no one to question the maker
The lifeless River stinks of human squander,
She was cursed and rotting all the way
Carcasses, feces, condoms – they stay.
We were repulsed by her sight
For we have to clear the den fortnight.
She was our most preferable Bin
A place where we cleanse our sin.
Little did we know that she was our daughter
But there is no time to spare, she had to be slaughtered.
We ripped her to pieces and danced on our tears,
Together we rejoiced celebrating it with cheers.

I am the proud River once known to all!
Then came the day I met my downfall.
If you think I’m sad you’re mistaken
I’ll strike with vengeance and leave your world shaken.
Restore me back to the days of glory - or else
Count the days and be prepared to be sorry.
You thought I was powerless and preferably dead
I will claim what’s mine, that’s enough to be said.
Where thou art mighty god, ye hath forsaken me
But I don’t procrastinate ‘to be is what to be.’
On the Day of Judgment don’t expect me to have a heart
For it was decades since you ripped it apart.

Time That Heals

Cold numb sensation running through the veins,
Piercing tender touch of nomadic winds
Felling-less pulsating rhythm,
Cunning pain creeping in my soul
You think there are hands to catch you
When you fall into the pinnacle of abyss,
No-one, no-more, exalting tantrums - please
Gaiety of foolishness, caught in the sea of dust.
Slow synchronic passage of time,
Gather me in your arms, take me away
Far away from the reach of science.
Hold me, tenderly and I shut my eyes
To see the world devoid of stinging hurt.
Did I disappoint you daddy?
Was I not good enough the way I’m?
Why do you have to leave so soon?
So here I stand the shallow embodiment,
Shattered mirror, wet with tears,
Do you hate so much me daddy?
Time, take me away, far far away,
To a land where I slumber in peace,
To a land that is free of disease,
To a land where tears taste sweet.
