Please, Go Away

Many, many years ago,
I was told and taught
That helping people is a considerate thought.
But there is something else to know.

Ungrateful people are of a sort
Rewarding generosity with a shattering blow,
And quite happily taking a friend for a foe.
But who would have thought?

It won’t worry them to get me caught
In trouble or fraught
And they are not slow
To show how ignorant they grow.

Now, I really wish to say to this lot
That my opinion of them is very low.
But words keep sticking in my throat.
And I just let things go.

May be one day
Shyness will wear away
And I’ll be able to say
To these people: “Please, go away!”

Sensation

I felt something strange tickling my ear.
I shrugged; then thought it was just the effect of beer.
No, the tickling went on and a white figure did appear.
I shrieked: "Who are you? And why are you here?"
I'm your caring angel. I came to wipe your tear.
Stay away! Don't come so near!
Don't you see me shaking with fear?
Relax! I just want to see you happy in this sphere.
Trust me. I won't be long. I'll soon disappear.
Things have to be set right and made clear.
Bringing your smile back is my reason to interfere.
I looked away wondering: "Isn't this what I want to hear?"
My heart leapt and started to cheer
When a piercing voice crossed my ear:
"Come on, get up! You'll be late, dear!"

A Firm Decision

Haste and haste and haste! What's all this for?
Why don't I slow down to contemplate this shore?
It looks nice and safe. I wonder if it is more.
May be I should stop to discover and explore.
"No, not now," a voice would say to me.
"Never stop, nor slow down to look and see.
Keep going! Time is gold, believe me.
Rush, and keep rushing that's how life should be."
But I'm tired. I can't just go on doing things I abhor.
Life is much more than school, work, and store.
I've missed many treasures in my rush; which I can't ignore.
So, now, no way am I going to miss more!

What's Happened To the Stars

She stood by the window, staring at the sky.
It was pitch black, yet she couldn't understand why.
"What's happened to the stars?" she wondered with a sigh.
No light, no brightness whether far or nearby.
"Oh, God!" she murmured "What does this signify?"
Then realizing the bitter truth, she began to cry.
She'd lost her sight; a fact she couldn't deny.
Now, she had some hardships to defy.
Would she manage? Perhaps. At least she would try.
She looked meditative and her face was wry.
Upon her memories she decided to rely.
Thus, she'd keep the twinkling of the stars in her mind's eye.
