The Reconciliation

The reason we must find ourselves
Is because somewhere along the way it was lost
Misplaced on childhood’s dusty shelves
Heedlessly forgotten, carelessly tossed

Countless discarded costumes and masks
Obscure our mind’s authentic hemisphere
Trying on different people is such a task
Never fitting, incessantly sheer

Soon we realize we never changed, we just grew
And we see that all along
We always knew
That our true essence was never too far gone

Summer Affair

First love
Innocent, pure
No holding back, let go
The freedom breeze, the memories
Live on.

Overcome

When you've fallen down and times are rough,
struggling in the depths of sin;
can't do this alone, you've had enough,
too ashamed to face the situation.
Don't worry, it's not the end,
and even though you feel so small;
everyone loses faith now and then,
you'll be welcomed back because He's already forgiven you.

Climb on out of your sinful slough,
feel the release of all chagrin;
no more need to pretend you’re tough,
you're in a place where we've all been.
But on your own you'll never win,
salvation comes to those who call;
look up to the sky, lift up your chin,
Never ending love and abounding grace are free for you too.

Brand new spirit without a scuff,
though at times you may feel defeated again;
when others gibe, mock, and act guff,
resist the fighting back temptation.
Spread God's love across the nation,
His justifications to them befall;
yet you'll remain in His constant protection,
the fights already over, there's no need to feud.

Satan will menace but it's all a bluff,
thinks he has a chance at the brawl;
but in reality he's been shackled and cuffed,
for the world's already overcome if you have the right view.

You'Re My Kansas

Finally caught a glimpse of what was over that rainbow; but love lost has left me whirling around in a tornado. Maybe my new red heels will turn your head? Or maybe I'll follow this brick road instead. Wish you were still my knight in shining armor, not just another tin man lacking a heart. I click my heels One-Two-Three! Just hoping maybe you'll come back to me.

The Least We Can Do

Why do we suffer? So often we forget that Christ suffered too without blemish, without sin He can relate and guide us through sometimes we just have to suffer for Him.

Breaking Wheel

Faultfinding words—the sticks; reproachful glances—the stones, each one flung through visors of human blinders. Every emotional prick they create shatters the bones as one more revolution of the breaking wheel is entire. Seeing all and sundry as a personal jester, hunting down their weaknesses for personal entertainment; but to poach each and every one you see is a pester that will ultimately land you in social containment. At long last your emotional torture mars no one but you— holding you captive in your limited thought. Following the judging and bludgeoning you will come to rue that your shallow heart merely led you to naught.

Without Love

As faith and hope and love all bless
The greatest of the three we know
For without love, how can faith express?
What would help hope anchor the soul?

One way to best evince our love
Forgive all others and ask the same from above
And when your love starts wearing thin
Remember it can cover a volume of sin

The Boy Who Cried Love

It’s something you’ll learn to regret
Crying wolf to shield your secret
No truth behind the words you said
Come on, lie down, you’ve made your bed

Made me act a fool, worry, fret
It’s something you’ll learn to regret
Maybe veracity you’ll find
‘Til then love will resume to blind

I pity who’s next on your list
You’ll grow on their heart like a cyst
It’s something you’ll learn to regret
Your lies that they misinterpret

When you do mean the words you say
No one will trust you anyway
Stuck in the past, you can’t forget
It’s something you’ll learn to regret

Dreams Know the Truth

I have spent my days building walls.
Reassuring myself no cracks were showing.
Living with this constant knowing:
Eventually everything must fall.

So when the darkness of the days comes,
So useless it is for me to run.
The images come, I just give in.
If only it were real again.

This routine I do not desire;
Picturing you only causes pain.
I realize with you there is nothing to gain.
Ending this is dire.

But once more I lie down to rest.
My feelings no longer repressed.
Seemingly so real, yet so uncouth,
My dreams always know the truth.
