One World

Love is not a color,
No hue, neither a race.
All of our blood is the same,
That runs deep within our veins.

If we could lift up each other,
And know that we all care.
If we help our sisters and brothers,
There's a bond that we'll share.

Promise the Moon

When I say "I love you",
Should it come with a price?
To say I'm thinking of you,
                                         Are these words still unwise?

I could fall for you a dozen times,
And have the wrong words to say.
Just tell me that I'm on your mind,
At least I hope and pray.

                                       I've seen sunsets and sunrises
And have spent so much time alone
                                        Should love wear no disguises
That I may call you my own.

If I could have one chance,
One moment to be with you,
In love's fell clutch of gripping hands
I wish to promise the moon.

Contradictionary

I feel that I've not done,
Everything that I should do.
I've not found the sun,
Nor what rain,
May have to prove.
Every word is dry,
With a fighting attitude,
Trying to deny,
What I'd truly say to you.
I've tried to be the kind,
To write,
And please your very eyes.
Yet there comes a time,
When my muse,
Runs and hides.
Nay! This game of pain,
Is not what I ordain.
Peace will be sustained,
On the day,
I write again.

Only Because I Love You

Every night, before I close my eyes,
I have this aching in my ear.
Something else bothers me tonight,
Your title of wife is drawing near.

That's what your mother is or was,
And she still has a crush on me.
Just be sure you don't rush,
Know that you love him honestly.

I want you to know I loved you,
Though we didn't do right sometimes.
I could not stop thinking of you,
I think the choice you've made is right.

I could hate it again and again,
Yet out of love I'd let you go.
I believe that's the right decision,
Now I kiss goodbye with this poem.

Read Me With Your Eyes

The world makes more sense,
When I tend to write it down.
I'd rather use my pen,
Instead of speaking loud.
Does conversation win,
In the place of falling rain?
Where do I begin?
The heart may explain.

A Poet's Words

Build a pulpit on my heart,
So I may preach again,
A word of loving art,
With a stroke,
Of my own pen.

It's just a heart that beats,
Everything from deep within,
Bleeding into ink,
A voice that carries,
Through a pen.

Might they realize,
Understand,
Just what this is,
Given from on high,
A gift with a pen.

The Tongue of Men and Angels

Did Heaven show me confidence,
The words to quench my thirst?
Did I reject what could've been,
Another written verse?

If everything around,
Is a noise that's way too loud,
To hear my vocal sound,
Make the world quiet down.

Lewis and Clark

They were Meriwether Lewis and William Clark,
Her name was Sacagawea.
On an expedition they did embark
Finding the passage to the sea.

Down the Missouri they traveled,
Then slithered 'round the Snake River bend.
Rocky Mountain weather and sickness battled;
At the Columbia River they'd end.

2009: My Senior Year

The first day of school I had not yet come to grips with what being a senior was. To me, this was just another year and another grade level. One day, when I was on my way to school, it hit me that this was my last August and my last September not only in this academy, but in high school. This was my last leg of the race and my last time making memories here. A new beginning of my life is waiting for me not in years, but in just a few months.

Note: My English teacher gave us an assignment to start writing about our life experiences so that one day we could possibly have autobiographies of our own.

Angels and Demons

God
                                              Beautiful, merciful
                                     Listening, loving, all-knowing
                                    Heaven, earth, stars, universe
                                             Lying, Dying, Trying
                                                 Dark, deceitful
                                                        Satan
