My Only Hope

I fell asleep one dreary day
I lost my will, I lost my way
I ran from all I ever knew
And feared the call I was supposed to pursue.
I drank from wells set on fire
And filled my voids with unholy desires.
I dressed the part to play the role
And slowly began to lose my soul.
But, when your down and
Shadows grow
And you finally have nowhere else to go
The only way to rise again
Is from the power of an eternal friend.
Many leave when you’re at your worst
When your hearts so heavy, it’s about to burst
Many claim so many titles
Their efforts are futile and their time is idle
Their promises bleed through the incisions
For they can’t possibly understand the mission.
Battles have been the hardest at times
And memories have played with my mind
But, I keep marching like any good solider would
Even though most of the time I am misunderstood.
I keep on fighting the forces and the fears,
Knowing one day he will wipe away every tear.
I keep on giving it my best even when it’s not enough
For only one holds my heart when the waves get too rough.
I keep on believing that one magnificent day
I will see true glory wash away my yesterdays
I keep on believing that one marvelous day,
I will see the gates of my destiny enrapture my today.

Reality

My mind is like a dangerous neighborhood
I try to never go there alone.
I thought that after all this time Id finally grown.
I met a spark that kindled my fire
How quickly it expired.
Enrapturing me in my sleep.
It burned so deep
It burned so deep.
Whispers of wonders invading my perception
Turns out it was self-deception.
I longed to continue in this delusion
But in the end it would be spiritual pollution.
How do I mend what I have done?
The separation has begun,
But the face of an angel lingers in my brain
I never meant to cause any pain.
If I could jump out of my skin and start again
Wisdom would have kept him like ink in a pen.
If only he could have come to myside
Happily we would forever abide.
But reality is a dark hole
And a bleeding soul
A vacant hole
Where many travelers never go.
Once again its chill creeps down my spine
And I release the one I had to leave behind.

This Laundry Never Ends

Oh laundry, how relentless you are in this house,
It’s as if I were a polygamist’s spouse.

The Catterfairy Contest

Have you ever seen a catterfairy?
Many found her to be quite scary,

She came out of her cocoon others said to soon
And only part of her had seemed to bloom.

Her green body dragged on the cold wet ground
Yet her face was like an angel and her wings were profound.

She had passed many animals, insects and fish
Though she was rejected by them all...she still held on to one special wish.

That someday she would gracefully fly
Far past all their critical eyes.

Show the world who she was inside
Never again feel the need to isolate and hide.

One day a mouse with two pointy green tails
Scuttled by her sobbing with a horrendous wail.

The catterfairy filled with compassion asked him what was wrong
The mouse pointed to his two tails and said “I’m not special or strong”

No one paid him any mind too
For his difference made others constantly ridicule.

The catterfairy said, "My dream is to fly"
"I am different too and can’t understand why"

At that moment they became the best of friends,
Their uniqueness became a treasure that helped them make amends

With whom they really were
Instantly feelings of loneliness became a blur.

The mouse one day had a marvelous idea
It would help his dear friend overcome a deep fear.

If he held up the catterfairys body while she attempted to fly
It would make her light enough so she could soar through the sky

Then, they both would graciously shine
Linked together till the end of time.

At once the mouse lifted the beautiful catterfairy's body high,
Holding on intensely, she got her wish and they both kissed the cold ground goodbye.

The catterfairy has human emotions and shows us how hard it can be when your different in our society. people judge others so often by how they look or if they have a disability. we all need love and friends and we have too look deeper than the outside. Someone will always come and lift that person up who feels rejected or different. Thank God we are all different. how boring this earth would be if we were all the same. Never try to be like anyone else for there is only one YOU and you are needed.

Spirit and Soul and Body Oh My

How I would love to tell you this life is fair
That the burdens you carry are temporary and rare
But the truth be told that until our glorified shell
Each soul will battle heaven and hell
How I would love to tell you that your spirit always wins
That if you just feed that part you will never sin
But that would be a lie too
For the war in our minds constantly brews
And our flesh wants to act when our hearts plead for peace
Because while in our skin, it will demand false releases
But the battle gets less and less, my darling, my friend,
When you reach out and grab the one with his extended hand
And the monsters, copied vampires, slip on crooked streets
When your love rests in the eternal heart beat
What I can tell you is that all you need to do is believe
Open your world, just embrace and you will surly receive
And the cares of this life will seize to remain
Like the nights, in your window, when you watch summer rain
Just hold on and stay true for he’s coming for you
Laugh and sing while you await your new set of wings.

The Graveyard of My Mind

I walked the graveyard of my mind last night,
I saw many people sleeping tight,

I saw the ones that made me smile,
I saw the ones, who were part of my biggest trials,

I saw the failures of my past,
I saw the sorrow of a childhood gone to fast,

I saw the liars, who stole from me,
I saw the heathens, who would never be free,

I saw the chameleons trying to blend in with the bareness
And vulnerability of winter trees,

I saw all those who listened
Yet silenced my innocent pleas,

But then I saw amazing grace,
Shimmering under a mercy tree,

I realized that all of those stones
Had made me what I was called to be,

Each plot was responsible for a certain quality in me,
Allowing me to be able to identify
With others drastically,

I saw the days of evil tightly bolted down,
I saw clarity, which was once lost
Now completely found,

I saw the pages turn
As the past had been burned,

I saw God's presence filling up
Every area where I yearned,

I saw a radiant light pointing far ahead,
Directing me out of my mind
Resurrecting all that was dead,

I saw those doors to that cemetery close tight,
As I continued towards what was bright,

I felt an unusual grin,
Overwhelm me from within
I saw an extraordinary flower,
Come forth with might and power.

Angels In Cemeteries Contest

I heard an angel speak last night and he said "write”
I had been going through a personal plight,

I ventured off into a place,
Where all I saw was love and grace,

The season was the beginning of spring,
When life can be heard, and the air starts to sing,

But the place I was in was an endless row of rest,
Yet I was able to admire how well it was dressed,

Glory symbols stationed all around,
One stood tall far off the ground,

Wings wide- ranging, angelic that gleamed,
Surrounded by flowers whose colors were sheen,

Blues of the ocean, reds of the evening sky,
I reflected on greatness, as the time passed by,

I came upon a sculpture, a cherub, with a face,
A tear in his right eye, looking down at this place,

A letter to God leaned against this particular one,
It read clearly on top, “Please Lord, hold my son”

I continued on, walking down this strip,
When suddenly, I slipped and had a hard trip,

I fell by a giant weeping willow tree,
Then looked up at the fixture right in front of me,

Out of all the others, this monument was painted the best,
Its beauty surpassed all of the rest,

I marveled at his golden strands,
His skin looked like the color of sand,

Looking up from off the ground,
It looked as though he wore a crown,

His creamy gown was long and still,
My eyes felt like they had started to spill,

His mere presence seemed to fill me with humility,
My legs were limp, I felt a lack of mobility,

What was this kind, who had made him?
Then, he spoke “You were never forsaken”

Chills overwhelmed my body quite fast,
I had no idea, I was his task,

I said, "what is your name,"
And He gently sighed,
“Your never alone, just enjoy your life’s ride”

I had been in a struggle, for quite some time,
He spoke once more, “You will be Fine”

His glimmering light calmed my inner plight,
His afterglow, made my heart know,

That sometimes in life we go through a trial,
And even when it seems like it’s lasted awhile,

God sends his messengers right on time,
He is never late, and His words are like wind chimes,

Soothing the mountains, calming the inner storms,
Restoring us back to our proper forms,

I looked up once more, but He had disappeared,
My faith had grown deeper, and I knew God was near,

I rested a while, under that old willow tree,
I felt compelled to write what had happened to me,

It was now the early part of night, I began with,
"I heard an angel speak last night and he said to write.”

Sweet Enough To Eat Contest

Her angelic smile and darling face,
Melted away a bitter place,
Her graceful presence, genuine and sincere,
Helped my purpose to become exceptionally clear,
For pleasing sounds ran through her hands,
On zebra keys they seemed to stand,
Her unfermented, pure, natural sweet
Performed notes that danced to noble beats,
A delightful fragrance of sheer perfection,
Gave way to an emotional resurrection,
Beloved friend with a cinnamon heart,
Words cannot express where I yearn to start,
When describing a bud that has blossomed into a rose,
Pleasing to the eyes and delightful to one’s nose,
Careful selections of words must be conveyed
For her exquisiteness dries up all weeds that once laid,
In her garden of rejuvenation
Nectars only inspiration,
Not one part of her is stale, dull or stifling to ones appetite,
She is simply beautiful throughout the day and beyond the night.

Speechless

I usually have words,
Words to say.
I usually can get things out when I pray.
I usually can make a joke and light up a room
But all I can say right now is that you left this world to soon.

You lit up my life in ways only God can understand
You were an angel, not mere human.
You always helped others when no one else cared
You always made yourself available when no one else was there.
When you sang and played guitar with me,
You looked so happy and free.
When I was scared and needed an ear,
You went out of your way to truly hear.
Many listen but most don’t hear
That was a gift, my dear.

I am thankful and honored you shared things with me
I got to hear what kept you in captivity.
Losing you is like losing a piece of my heart
I don’t even know where to start.
I wish I could have taken all your pain away
I am thankful that you let me lead when life was gray.
I miss you so much and it’s an ache in my soul
I just need you to know, I loved you so
Thank you for all you did for me
All the nights you listened to me go on endlessly
Thank you for the kindness you bestowed on me
You helped me see a lot of things that I had to learn to let be
I wish I could go back in time
I keep playing every conversation in my mind
I wish I could have done more
But for now I have to close that door
Rest in peace my precious friend
I believe in my heart we will meet again
Things will not be the same
And I am sure many want to take the blame
But you touched more people than you know
And I pray God told you that at heaven’s door
You were one of my best friends
And I will cherish you until the end
You were one of my best friends
And I will cherish you until the end.
