I Am No One

I Am No One

I am no one
I don’t say this because I feel invisible,
But because I cannot show,
 Who I am deep below.
An identity is something hidden,
Almost like a super hero or villain.
But although I can show my face,
My soul is still erased.
I am not saying erased forever,
Only erased till my heart is unlaced.
A human’s identity is determined in the end,
The good deeds he did,
The hearts he did mend.
But is it up to me to say what makes a man?
No, I am describing me, a nice boy,
My Identity waiting to be discovered,
buried in the sand.

The Rwandan Genoside

I look back at Rwanda.
Ruin upon ruin forever lying so powerless,
That even Lucifer cried out in pain.

Piles of bones of remembrance.
Their machetes are forever cumbersome from the
Weight of their scars of sorrow.
And for the people, this land is frowned upon.

But the bloodshed still lingers, for many lives were lost.
For they were truly left alone to bask at deaths door,
Because many were too timid to penetrate that door.

But because of this imprudent mistake,
The Rwandans are now a victim to memory.
But these memories were too stained by the crimson tide,
That washed away the ability to forget,
The ability..... To forgive.

But above these graves of regret,
Grows flowers of hope for a recovered future.

Melancholy Train

Melancholy Train By: Dylan Steefel Tribute to Samantha Steefel I am alone… There is no one here to stop me, Know one to guide me to the other side of a never-ending train. To me, The destination is nowhere. To a place with no emotion, and in a never ending sleep, I will be at peace... basking in an ocean of serenity. But this is an unknown train, With inexplicable reasons of how and why I feel this way. But to end the pain, all it takes a swift motion. As my mind races towards ending my desolation, The conductor speeds up the train. I pass by memories of a life... a world...that was once my own. But now I am distant from that world, Stuck on a train of a never-ending epiphany of sorrow. But as the train continues to speed up, We pass by another train, A train of eternal memory of what could be. I then ask myself, “Should I take a leap of faith?” A leap into a world I can call my own once more, A bound into the warmth and comfort of my family, A jump into life. It is this thought that guides me from my mind to reality. And with this, I take a chance, A chance to a normal life. As I enter my world, I see my brother crying silently over me. His gentle tears hovering, dropping down to my face, Landing so gently, yet with such force, my burden is lifted . But for me, It was this commiseration that is hardly shown from my brother, That sealed the gateway to the melancholy train.

Fear

Fear…
Fear is a shudder,
It is trepidation,
It is danger,
But most of all,
It is a never-ending feeling of evil and desolation

Fear…
Fear is blind,
Fear is disparaged by a mans actions,
It is a beacon of despair through the eyes of mankind.

But in my eyes…
Fear is how we see… how we feel, how we act,
Fear is a guide through a world of uncertainty,
 a guide, through life itself.

Fear…
Fear is will,
It is hope,
It is benevolent.
fear is how we eat, how we breathe, and how we live,
it is all this, masked by an optical illusion of
evil and despair that has blinded man.

Many great men deny fear,
But I believe it is how we continue to live.
Fear gives us worry,
It gives us the dread of death…

Fear is inevitable; one cannot get rid of it,
One can only overcome it with courage.

So fear must be embraced by courage
to propel a man forward in life.

A fearless man has nothing to live for,
While a fearing man has much to die for.

Just a Soldier

A civilian on the battlefield,
A soldier among his people,
He is even a child of two parents.

He is still but a soldier,
nothing more, nothing less.

A warrior in life,
A citizen on the frontlines.

We are all soldiers for our countries,
nothing more, nothing less.

Humans are all fighting for the sake of returning home,
To be a soldier, not for war, but for peace.

For each person is but a soldier,
Nothing more, nothing less.

Night

Night…
Something not to be feared but to be loved…
With shining stars observing from above
A darkness protecting us like a shield…
As we sleep with our eyes sealed.

Night helps us seal our eyes…
To let us dream away from all our lies.
Distant in a world I can understand…
Even basking in the sun on the summer sand.

But when our eyes become restless and they slowly expand,
We gradually drift away from our intangible sand.
We rise and shine to this brand new light,
And whisper our last words to a place we call night.
