The Toll of Aid's

Eighteen years ago,
I was sent home to die.
No tears or laughter,
not even a sigh.
I looked within,
to find a tarnished soul.
So I began my journey,
a high price was the toll.
As the weight fell from my body,
left with little skin & bones.
The pain I've endured,
I claim as my own.
Threw smile's & laughter,
I've hid my tears.
Never letting anyone,
see my fear.
This terrible virus we know as AID's,
has tried so hard to show me my grave.
The hell I have lived,
has brought joy to my soul.
Paying the price has helped me grow old.
For threw the hurt and the sorrow I have seen.
New life was born,
for my eyes they have seen.
Some days I forget just how sick I have been,
then the daily rituals of pills I begin.
Feel sorry for me not,
because I don't for myself.
Life is a journey, full of much wealth.
Paid not in coin or dollars you see,
but how gracious you walk it with bended knee.
My journey not over,
not knowing where I'll go.
I continue to live,
and pay the toll.
No wealth I have, just a smile I give.
This is what helps me, from day to day live.
Be happy in life,
no matter your fate.
Live life to the fullest,
before it's to late.
