Broken Tree

A dysfunctional child covered in mud
If her mamma didn't clean her do you think a stranger would?
dirty looks and filthy nails
gossips, rumours and funny tales
labels that stick and wont wash off
she is a tree with a damaged root
she grows no flowers
she grows no fruit
Broken trees can’t grow wings
This little girl resorted to other things

Grief

Grief
a state with no expiration
it will come, stay until it goes
how long, we don't know
Grief has no sell by date

Tsunami Terror

In Batticaloa, I lay asleep wide awake
In fear,
the sea sings
Alarmed by every movement, rustle shake.
On the bed, under my pillow
On the edge, edge of the aggressor
The violent waves
A paradise by day
But at night captivating me, capsizing me to the screams of the grave
I lay asleep wide awake
Echoes of the children’s screams
Been swallowed whole by the wave
Praying at with all my might, who will God save?
I lay asleep wide awake, in fear of the tsunami
Wondering my fate
Nature has an army no man can ever make
I lay asleep in Batticaloa wide awake

Stumbling

She has never stumbled on her words did you say?
never got a word wrong and I right?
She says shes never stumbled to this night
She says she avoids those stumbly words everyday ?

Alchemy From Scribbles

My scribbles scrammbled on a tatty bit of paper
I vomit ideas
           Before they vapour
They appear inedible mountains of mess
I churn and turn the illegible scribbles to words that truly bless

Choking Dreams

I choke in my dreams
I’m struggling so it seams
A conflict with me and the inner me
Unblock this plague and let my words free

Tennis Court

looking out the window from floor five
I see that boy
giving it large, playing his field, having a laugh
full of youth and joy
but when the whistle blows I see him turn
back into his shell
a different world

Spell It Out

Dark blue
Echoes
Persistently
Repeatedly and
Encroach m
Sadly and
Sordidly
Inside the forbidden
Only to make me
Never what to return again

Homeless Man

The smile of time is all I have to give,
exchanging and sharing
no matter where we live,

Day by day you grow stronger and thicker skin,
you brave it all
the strength from within

It’s not in my hands to rescue you,
Though I wish it could be,
Remember I’m the one who is trapped,
And you are the one who is free.

This catch 22 has to end
I hope you find peace,
to a dear friend
