A Moment's Learning

Squirming and gliding I went through life,
But happiness eluded me at every moment,
Not knowing what it was that I wanted,
I just kept hopping from torment to torment.

A snail caught my eye one of these moments,
Squirming and gliding with some resemblance to my mind,
I had thought of going past it for a second,
But it looked like its life was going to unwind

Slowly and slowly life kept reducing its pace,
And its course started making me a bit crazed,
Realizing there was nothing for me to do for the creature,
I just let the nature leave me amazed

I hadn’t been free from my pains till yet,
But there was some learning in that moment still,
Like that snail my mind might slowly unwind,
But that shouldn’t stop me from smiling still

For Those Who Have

Burning through quite some oil of life
I remembered over what all had been,
There were some moments highlighted in my mind
Where loss and pain filled up the entire screen

Even though the present was wonderful not fine
I gave into my mind’s simple little tricks,
Thoughts jumped back to time when there was little money and
I remembered the car that wasn’t gifted when I turned six

This made me sad and I just sat thinking over
Why for small little things god made my mind wrestle,
I had forgotten that I drove my own car now
And lived with my family in a sweet little castle

Refusing to lament the things that were not
I remembered all the treasures with me that remain,
Wondering if I really enjoyed them all this time
Would there have had been any stings or pain

This glorified my journey of what it was till now
And that moment decided what I was going to be,
My life might take me through some unplanned waters
But I must thank god for whatever I see
