The Term of Love

The Terms of Love

WHen
we finally
turned to
each othrer
after the chase
every part
of my being
cried out,
"Surrender"

So Much For Chores

The kitchen radio rumbles heavy drumbeat,

outside, rain pecks out its staccato

on the porch.

Stirring fragrant coffee,

I ponder doing dishes, starting laundry,

pause to glance at him.

Across from me,

his eye-crinkling smile

liquefies all my resolve.

Oh, listen

to that insistent rain

ans heartbeats drumming.

Lessons

It is in the very act, of loving each other,
Day by day,
With patience,
With humor,
With doubts,
With passion,
And much forgiveness,
All without losing ourselves, that we learn to love.

Our Lives

You sleep, I dream,
imagining tomorrow
and all the tomorrows,
of our life.

Will we have children,
change jobs,
buy a house in the suburbs,
have outdoor barbeques?

Perhaps we'll stay in the city,
live in a loft.
decorate in bold colors
and ride our bikes to work.

You sleep, I dream,
imagining tomorrows,
and all the tomorrow
of our love.

Modern-Day

A wicked heart blinds the eyes and steals the soul's redemptive growth
A corrupted mind is never forgiving and hates a tender smile
But because there is an abundance of joy built in strength
I see my fellowmen as humanitarians and as friends

I am the modern-day Bob Marley chanting my redemption song
I am today's preacher giving thanksgiving and praise
I march like Martin Luther for I have a dream
I sing like the angles in a humble refrain

Unity solidifies the heart
Eternal love prides the eyes
A rolling dice have many outcomes
Chose the possibilities of your successes

So I dance like Fred Astaire as I glide through out life
I will box like Mohammed Ali and sting like a bee
I want to be the modern-day sunshine casting my light upon the world
Just a natural woman roaming and visualizing my plan

There are so many things to be thankful for
There are so many good silenced by loud noise
Like Whitney Houston I have nothing without you
At the end of the day I will always love and treasure my miracle.

You Arre Mine, I Am Yours

Your are mine
I am yours
Not a possessive noun
that expresses property,
but a meaningful word
declaring our decision
to share the best we have--
to listen, to honor,
to understand,
to cheer each other,
being who we are,

You are mine
I am yours.
Together life is lovelier.

I Wanted To Tell You

I wanted to tell you how,
early this morning

 lying against you.
 a great wave of gentleness

swept all my old wars
clean, leaving me here with

your body washed up in sleep
on the pillow beside me.

I'm here, home,
and empty of all but your deep

silence humming within me
I wanted to tell you

I love you.

I Promise

I promise that I won't get distracted by the noise around me
I will avoid delaying the process to make haste my budding successes
I promise to forgive myself of my mistakes and endeavor to merit me in private
Astonishing as life can truly be I'd rather fight for integrity within my hand

The heart of conflict kills an open pride
I'll take of this blindfold to read my lines
But am getting too close to this daunting cliff
I promise to remain stable as the evening grows

Don't try solving today's homicide
The altercation of this dilemma is at its deadline
I promise to send out my lifeboat for you
Hang in there do you understand my formal affair?

When Love Is Painful

Holy mystery of love,
as we give thanks for your presence
when love flows like a river,
so we are grateful for Your presence
when love refuses to flow,
when love is slogging work,
and even when love is painful.

It is still love, and it is still charged with Your energies.

You inspire us to make our love even wider,
to open its door even to the woundedness
of those we love,
to admit honestly to our wounds
and defective hearts,
to patiently allow time to pass: for healing.

Love can be lost we know, Holy One,
and we ask Your blessing on what love we have.

Even though it be imperfect,
still it towers over everything else in our life.

Amen

Mockin Moon

The moon seeks to mock me tonight,
Its glow reflecting past times so right.
When love embraced me so tenderly,
When all was never this disorderly.
A time when love was in full blossom,
When my lover leaned against my bosom.
Ohhhh, how I miss him so yearningly,
The touch of his lips on mine so softly.
Love that was with us for but a season,
Ran off love did, left us dry, such treason.
Never again to know his delicate touch,
My desires were stoked, it was indeed such.
I will miss his lips, nibbling on my ear,
Enough reminiscing, for now I feel a tear.
