Dance Into the Storm

You walk upon life's glass filled path,
feet ragged and bleeding.
You scream into a ferocious wind,
not knowing where your journey is leading.

The horizon you seek seems always beyond your view.
No sign of light to herald dawn's breaking.
No shelter from the cruel hail and rain,
it is no easy path that you are taking.

Be joyous in your pain.
Be thankful for your sorrow.
Your heart though crushed will beat on still
and learn to love again tomorrow.

Dance into the storm and let your song drowned it's thunder.
You are as radiant as a star,
transient as a sigh.
Celebrate your life, you are as beautiful
as the sky!

I Met a Mad Man On the Road One Day

I met a mad man
on the road
one day

I knew he was mad
I'd heard people
say

Do your warders know
that you are out here
all alone?

I asked him most politely
in my very best sarcastic
tone

"You think that I am mad!"
He replied in a voice most
amused

"Well that may be the case
but it is you who is confused
for you are out here on your own
you see
I am not really here!
Do you not realize that
you are talking to yourself
my dear?"

There Is a Magical Land Not Far Away

There is a magical land not so far away
Where all is colour no shades of grey
Where unicorns joust
and centaurs play

Hush now, listen to the fairies song
Their golden harps sound all day long
The wondrous elves weave a flaxen thread
into a silken sheet for a young princess's bed

The Queen of dreams waves her amber wand
and stardust scatters over a crystal pond
High above where the winged horses fly
a multi-hued bow frames an electric
blue sky

Where is this mysterious realm?
I hear you say
Where could it be, if not far away?
It is real enough is my reply!
It is in my daughter's smile and in
the twinkle of her
eye.

Strange Lands

I have walked with strangers in strange lands
I have seen those lands through their eyes of madness
and not been afraid to keep looking

I have sat with them and shared their songs of insanity
and not been too frightened to listen

But the land that you live in is far too strange for me to understand
and your song is too discordant for my ears
I never want to walk with you in your land
or hear your song again.

Sweet Sad Poet

Sweet sad poet
In your lonely room,
Did you think that your life
Would be easy?
Do words ease your
Gloom?

Do you think that only
You bleed?
Is your life more
Bleak than mine?
Can you heal a thousand sorrows
With only
Metre, rhythm and rhyme?

Write, write on my friend,
With all your heart!
Bleed, bleed on dear friend,
For only you know where your poem will end
and how your poem will start,

There I Will Wait For You

My
journey
to the stars
is hindered by the weight
of the not so light years.
Filled with fortunate tragedies,
met with
peevish and sullen
greetings
in a wasteland of my own making.
Spiraling self-inflected
torment
lifts me up through
the universal darkness
to an uncertain end.
There I will wait for you,
kept company
by many
a good
friend.

Such Dreams

Such dreams come and go
that
life in comparison seems
dull
waking hours
only intervals between them
in that land
that far off place
I again see you smile
your distant face
but self delusion
brings his friend
illusion to outnumber
reality
and
replace
it.

Chaos

If there was a past life
We
Where together then
If there is a life after death
We
Will be together again
But for now
We
Only have the present
And every second that
We
Are apart
A million stars
Die
And chaos rules
supreme

Sunday Morning Lament

Sunday morning was always my favorite time of the week
Lying silently next to you
Listening to you breath as you sleep

Outside the world was slowly coming to life
While here safe in our sanctuary I lay contented beside you
My lover, my best friend, my soul mate, my wife

The whole day before us to bask in the warmth of our love
These rooms were our country , our Elysium
We had no need for any heaven above

But since you left Sundays are hell
24 empty hours in which to lament my empty life without you
In this cold and empty apartment

The Heart of a Poet

I have the heart of a poet
I keep it in a box near my front door
If you visit my home you are welcome to stamp on it
That is what I keep it there for
