Your Pain

Your pain Why do I feel your pain still When I left of my own free will My mind is heavy with the burdens you build Yet my heart is still tender And vulnerable to your every will When you’re hurting and making bad choices Your voice still touches my every emotion How is it that I still feel your pain Even when I have nothing left to gain Yes, I love you still But be with you, I never, ever will. You had my heart from the very start And slowly our love began to part Two became one, until one was none Off in separate ways for more than 365 days So how is it that to this day Your pain still finds its way Into my life and in my heart where it stays Lay

Pay Attention

Pay attention
~~~~~~~~~~
Just when she thinks the coast is clear
In walks the ghost with a smile and a can of beer
“Come over here - let me tell you a story”
“Sit on my lap - you don’t have to worry”
“Do as I say and it won’t be gory”
Pay attention
~~~~~~~~~~
As the ghost tells his bed time story
Strokes her hair and tells her not to worry
Listening to this ghost and his horrific sounds
Her body is stiff, her heart pounds
She tries not to cry as his pants begin to round

Pay attention
~~~~~~~~~~
“You know I love you” the story begins
“Don’t tell mommy” the story ends
Back in bed alone in the dark
The ghost and his beer have left their mark
An innocent “bedtime story” is how it all starts
Irritated
Help me smother this irritation ~ with lines and punctuations ~ Feed me pronouns ~ to drown incompetent sounds ~ Nouns to block inevitable frowns ~ verbs to calm nerves ~ Synonyms to perpetuate and penetrate minds ~ antonyms to reiterate in rhyme~ Give me a vocabulary of words to express my perturb ~ why must people be so absurd Lay
My Parent
My Parent
The rules said “one parent not two”
Good for me as I only had you
No selection; no one to choose
Who is this parent; just follow the clues
Next rule; write something “profound”
Something good or something that makes you frown
This one was easy
Considering all you ever said was greasy
“You stupid _____”
This one was rich
“Go get the belt”
Not satisfied till there was a welt
The pain is still felt
How about “you swine”
Became a preference in time
Not “go to bed”
Followed by a blow to the head
So hard could have become brain dead
Your scars are still here
Your pain I still wear
Your mistakes I still bare
Your voice I still hear
Your secrets I now declare
Your presence I no longer fear
Your wrong doings I am aware
Your hate is replaced with tender loving care
Did you follow the clues
Who's this in reference to
Someone you want to be related to
Perhaps it’s someone you already do
This is my parent… I wish it were untrue!
Lost In Ink Stains
My words are lost in ink stains
Verses smudged in prints of you
Illegible scribbles soon fill in lines
Once paved with love anew
Now only paperless pain ensues
An unnatural sequence of thoughts
Scribed in distressed hues of blue
Will re-actively release your grip
But the pain it can’t undo
Now only agony grew
My heart hands weep writes of tomorrow
My paper and pen are tempered in sorrow
My emotions bellow wallows
Of a mournful mind
I pray
This too
Shall pass
In time…
Baby - Love Is At the Door
Baby, it’s you I adore
With you… I want to explore
With you… I want so much more
My heart is knocking at your door
Night after night
My emotions you ignite
My chest is tight
No longer can I fight
You feel so right
With you… I reach new heights
Tonight’s the night
My destinations in sight
My heart… the guiding light
My love… I will recite
When we unite… Tonight…
Walking Away From Someone You Love
Walking away from someone you love Trotting the path of friend if I had to do it all over I’m certain I’d do it again Walking away from someone you love not something I wanted to do but something I knew I must my hearts still in love but it’s my mind I had to trust Walking away from someone you love the memories…laughter… and tears letting these things go is what I most feared oh, how I pray my heart will heal Walking away from someone you love looking forward to a future unsure of what will be there I opened the door of uncertainty stepped onto roads unclear my destination’s still unknown only hope to land in love and care Lay
My Precious Child
My Precious Child
I am so very proud of you
Your life was my dream
One surrendered long ago
I am so very proud of you
You are my hope realized
One surrendered long ago
You are my answered prayer
You are my hope realized
Your life was my dream
You are my answered prayer
My Precious Child
